I'm not in Pike County any more but I would think that Coach Salyer should get an interview. To be honest I'm not sold on internet postings about the aire apparent by the former HC. Some things are left better off the internet JMO. Pikeville is and always has been a proud and classy program. At this point the school needs to hire man willing to stay for the long haul. Agian JMO. Matt Thomas is a special young man and is the epitome that any parent, coach, teammate, fan, or educator would want. Ashland has had a few others that fit this mold in the past 10 years, and with that being said, Matt shines just as brite on and off the court/field as any! I can assure you that Ashland is proud to call Matt Thomas a TOMCAT:ylsuper:

I thought I was giving Elliott an obvious plug to keep it in focus? Those teams are not here to beat Elliot THIS year. I hope a 64th team will go to the Sweet 16 but our chances look remote right now. Maybe if posting wrong. Is Elliott the best team ever in the 16th.......That's out to debate;)

Having officiated Softball/Baseball 10+ years ago, I feel the need to give these basketball officials some love. Basketball referees are the most scrutinized officials in high school sports period! They are under a microscope from tipoff to final buzzer. Its not an easy job. The pay doesn't take into consideration the travel, meals between jobs, and then the bashing they can take sometimes from fans and others in the gymnasium. Yet, they will return to the court at your school to do the best job they can. Bad/missed calls happen just like bad things happen in your life or at work. Successful teams and people overcome these setbacks and get better for them. I understand that some people think that certain referees make calls bad because????? But if you can't produce the proof let the official do his/her job, and if you can contact the KHSAA. Yes, good officials are consistent, and I'm pretty sure that the official's organization in your area does what it can with the funds it has to make each and every official as consistent as possible. With that being said maybe the fans should shift focus to supporting your local organization of officials to help recurit and train qualified individuals? Just a thought?

Elliott County has the "best" team in the Region this year IMO and that is worthy of a big :thumb: As far as best ever? They'll have to win a State Championship before we even start speaking in those terms. I agree with other posters that several past teams from different schools might give Elliott fits, but on the other hand they aren't playing this year:sssh: Good luck to all 16th Region Teams:thumb:

Man a lot of Ashland haters on here? Both teams played last on December 29th so they should know their game plans and be well rested. Good luck to both teams but I've got to go with the Tomcats.

Or maybe the Big East:sssh: As far as the Big 10 - SEC debate.......The Big Ten needs to be the Big Eleven..... The Big Eleven has 2 very strong traditional powers in Ohio State and Michigian. The SEC can field several contenders in any given year. Does that make one conference better than the other? I'm not sold on either one but as an SEC fan I would like to see the BS I mean the BCS go to a playoff format. I don't want to hear you can't do it because some BCS teams have been off for 30+ days and I'm sure that someone smarter than me can figure out a playoff number of teams, schedule dates that allow exposure, and keep a bowl format for the teams not in the playoffs. This can be done and shame about it all is "WE" crown a National Champion on one game after their regular season is done. I would venture to guess that no less than 6 of the 10 National Champions in I-A (or whatever they call it now, bowl eligable???) would have lost in a playoff system and thus were not the best college football team in the land that year.
