Steve Lovelace named new Head Coach at Christian Co.
Maybe so or maybe not. One particular Coach they really wanted wasn't going to leave where he is now because of the program he built. John Adams made a strong push for the job and had strong support from some of the notables in the program/school. In the end though the Principal had to keep her word as she talked Lovelace out of resigning in January for several reasons.

Steve Lovelace named new Head Coach at Christian Co.
Christian Co. has named Defensive Coordinator Steve Lovelace Head Coach. Christian Co. opened up the search for a new football coach after Mike Whitaker resigned. They contacted other coaches about the position but suprisingly got no interest in return.

Shannon Burcham new Trigg County coach
It was well known that when the Trigg job became available Jaggers would apply. It's in his nature. But in the end interview or not Trigg didn't have the money to get him away from Mercer. It was Burchams job the day he applied and sent in his resume and Letter of Interest. I know one Coach that was contacted and asked of his interest but later withdrew his name from consideration. Burcham is an intelligent individual and a young defensive coach on the rise. Last year at Madisonville their offense was the weak link. Getting 0 offensive points in 3 games.

Different staff at Hoptown in 96 to the one that's there now.

Christian Co. now Open
Steve Lovelace (Defensive Coordinator) John Adams (O-Line Coach) Those are only 2 that have officially applied according to Christian Co. There seems to be some push for John Adams by a lot of people in the Colonel camp.

Shannon Burcham new Trigg County coach
Trigg wasted no time. Friday was the last day they accepted applications. Monday they interviewed another canidate and Burcham on Tuesday and he was offered the job on the spot. Madisonville has always had good athletes but not the consistent game breakers like a Haney, Waddle, Johnson, or Boyd. 99, 2000, & 2004 they made it to the Region Championship before losing to Hopkinsville. Their 2000 senior class was real good with some good athletes. Next year Madisonville should be good up front with just about everybody returning and some quality experience with the skill kids.

Highlands Bold Prediction Thread (Take #2)
Hoptown is looking forward to coming up and playing you guys. One of their coaches told me last night he has wanted to play highlands since 1982!

Christian Co. now Open
Christian Co. has contacted a couple of Coaches but those guys told them no thanks. It's going around over there that Lovelace is the only one that has applied thus far. According to some of the Christian Co. faithful he's on the list but not the top of the list. Pat Gates is a name getting tossed around and John Adams (O-Line Coach) is getting some mention as a strong possibility.

Curtis Higgins takes Fern Creek job
Is it that easy to get students to tansfer to Trinty or ST.X?:irked: Would he or his family have to pay like regular students? Don't sound fair to have you guys trying to get birds singing in this kids ear. If the kid is good as some tend to think, Higgins system will be very good for him. He will spread the field and have him throwing the ball all over the field.

Curtis Higgins takes Fern Creek job
He's coming back for more reasons then the athletes. That's obvious by the other openings he's applied for. He's had a good run of athletes at Trigg but considered by some that he can't win the big game.

Curtis Higgins takes Fern Creek job
The type of ahletes will not be that much different. Higgins has had several kids sign D.1 and several others sign to play for WKY and so forth. Trigg would give Fern Creek all they wanted if they played the last several year or so. Higgins will have Fern Creek back where they belong very soon.

Curtis Higgins takes Fern Creek job
Can't say I'm shocked Higgins has been linked to a couple of other jobs (South Oldham & Marshall Co. are 2 others he applied for). He'll get the kids out with his preferred open offense and pressure "Confusion/Junkyard" defense that Male runs.

2007 Marshall County
It was a case of me still having flash backs of his performance against Hopkinsville. (LOL)

2007 Marshall County
SCOTT SHELTON is the apparent new man at Marshall. I originally said Adam Shelton but he's the QB at Mayfield.

2007 Marshall County
Looks like those details couldn't get worked out and it's opened up the door for Adam Shelton to get his chance.

Christian County 92 University Heights Academy 57
UHA's two start decided not to come to practice the last two day. Imagine that you are about to play one of the best teams in the state and you don't come to practice! They were even telling teammates that coach would do nothing about it because they were the team. He should not have played them at all!! If anybody put Hopson on the all-state team they need their head look at. But don't worry they will get all the glory this summer with the AAU setups. I would get rid of them and start over from scratch.

Hopson and Edmondson didn't play in the 1st quarter. UHA turned the ball time after time to start the game. They went through a stretch in the opening quarter where they didn't get the ball passed mid court 4 consecutive times. By the time the 2nd quarters arrived it was over!

Hopkinsville 84 Fort Campbell 76 OT
FC has better athletes and more quickness than Hopkinsville. They utilized that on offense by spreading and driving. On defense they played zone on the poor shooting Tigers. FC had no answer for Antwain Loving and freshmen standout Darnell Davis. Rogers for FC did a good job at creating his own shot and finding others when the trap came. Neither Coach was pleased with the mediocre officiating in the 2nd half. Twice even the refs were confused. In the end Hopkinsville found a way to survive and that's what the post season is all about.

Christian Co. now Open
There's some reasonS why Lovelace didn't get the Hopkinsville job. Lovelace has a interview coming up for the Louisville Central job. The people in the "Know" at Christian Co. say they are putting together a list of possible canidates. Lovelace has a chance and now that he is certified it helps. He's had is issues over there and may not be the top choice by some.

8th District draw
The draw took place at the 8th district breakfast as it always does. It does seem the top 2 teams draw each other most often. 07) UHA vs CCHS 06) UHA vs CCHS 95) UHA vs CCHS(Hoptown & CCHS split the regular season) 96) UHA vs CCHS 87) UHA vs Hopkinsville 85) Hopkinsville vs Fort Campbel (Been called one of FC's best teams & they beat Hoptown in the regular season that year) That's going back as far as I can remember. In 03, 04, & 05 the seeding was in place. The rest of the years not mentioned the draw method come out the same way the seeding process would have or close to it.

8th District draw
Christian Co. isn't at full speed going into the post season. Keith Tandy has missed the last 2 games but is expected back for the district. They did get Cortez Ivory back for the regular season finale but can he give them meaningful minutes? They will be without starting 2G Shaquille Wilson and he could miss the district tournament all together. Cory Wilford is also questionable. UHA has struggled in the "W' column but seem to be playing their best "team" ball right now. Said to have been having some of their best practices the last 2 weeks. Lack of depth has caused them to ware down in the final minutes. Hopkinsville has been playing .500 ball since the hot start. A young team that has shown their youth in close losses to Christian Co. and Owensboro. The good news for them is 6'7 junior Karlos Thompson is giving them 5-6 ppg. but pulling down 12 rebounds a game in the last 2 weeks. They've also gotten their depth back up since the dismissal of some starters and rotation players. Fort Campbell is quicker than Hopkinsville and will out athlete them at certain positions. They don't lack confidence.

Caldwell County 79 University Heights 69
I know, I know this is OLD but I'm moving slow these days. When UHA looked at the 06-07 season they had 2 players penciled in as starters or exleast quick ones off the bench. 6'3 (F) Chris Evans who transferred to Hopkins Central last year. Keller has said if he was still there he would give them that true inside presence that their lacking. 6'3 (G) Shaquille Wilson who was dismissed from UHA last year. He's been the starting SG for Christian Co. the entire season. Good size and potential and a true 3-point shooter. Keller said it best the other night I thought. He said certain kids on this team is starting to figure out for them to be successful their offense has to go through Tyshaun and Scottie. Their UHA's only proven playmakers who can create their own shots. Been a lot of times this year when others have forced the issue and not made the extra pass or correct read.

Who is the new head coach at Powell?
Christian Co. expected him to be gone after this year. Whitaker made that obvious with his lack of interest in their weight program this year and with his comments.

KY/TN Allstar game (Friday June 15th, 7pm, at Commonwealth)
Hibbit over Taylor -yea right.

Who is the new head coach at Powell?
What's the latest on this situation? Whitaker has been a no show at the Christian Co. weightroom workouts since December. There's been little to no contact with him and any of his assistants. A few of the assistants could possibly be leaving for other schools.
