You heard right.

I am going to say he is gone. I think maybe the word got out faster then he wanted it to. Duffer IMO did the best coaching job in the state last year. He and his Father have gotten their share of criticism. Some on reputation and some warranted. I have great respect Duff and how he has handled every situation thrown in his face.

One thing is for sure you can use Hoptown as a good measuring stick in 5A this year, they play Highlands, Warren Central, Mercer, and Lincoln County this season.

Is this the school in Alabama where one of Coach Duffys' college buddies is currently coaching at? I know he has good contacts across the South. I may be wrong but I'm thinking he is going to a program where he has some contacts/friends at. Good Luck Duff!

Going to be an Offensive Coordinator. Been hearing this for 2-3 weeks.

There's been a lot of Fathers to coach their sons and not allow conflicts to rise. During a 2 hour practice maybe Hayes should have made the ENTIRE TEAM run the stairs and upper level of the gym. Instead he made alll run except 1 certain player. That player got to shoot free throws and 3-pointers for 2 hours.

I like Duffer and hope he stays at Henderson for several years. But could he be on his way out sooner rather than later?

Could Mike Wright make a return to the Trigg sidelines?

Hopson gets a lot of criticism for taking plays off and Keller let him know it and would bench him. But Keller turned his head with other kids and that was brought to the publics attention by some of the UHA administration. You could see this developing in 05-06 season. It suprised some when Keller got the job. He was on Clines staff but was his 2nd or 3rd assistant. Mike Artis is a name getting mentioned (AAU Coach) but I don't think either want anything to do with the other. When you say outside influence people automaticly assume it has something to do with Hopson. But there was another set of Parents that stuck their nose in the coaching business and Keller didn't ignore them. Tommy Wade is a name you will hear. Wade is currently Ray Harpers top assistant. Wade has told the local media he someday could see himself coaching at HOPKINSVILLE HIGH SCHOOL. But he withdrew his name for that position a year ago. He was on Roy Woolum's staff at UHA in the 80's. Since then one of Wade's best friends and local business owner has decreased his ties to the UHA program.

1st year Head Coach Phil Keller has called it quits at UHA. Keller who was a longtime assistant at UHA under Marty Cline and Jeff Jackson was hired last year as the Head Coach. Keller was also an Assistant at Hopkinsville in 80's in Darryl Hallmark and was on the Hopkinsville staff the year they won the State Championship. Who will UHA look to now? Terry Hayes?? Former Hopkinsville Coach who still teaches at Hoptown but assisted UHA last summer. Kelly Carwile??? Current Hopkinsville Assistant with head coaching experience. Some over at UHA want another of their own. Last years UHA team underachieved in a lot of eyes. Had the great tallent with no depth. Had some on the COURT discipline issues but not the off the court problems that had been there in the past. This is probably a good move for all involved. Keller was losing the players and there was talk at the end of the season from some of the UHA true faithful that Keller was in over his head and confused some by how he handled certain situations.

Has Jeff Embrey resigned from Trigg Co. to become the Head Coach at Lyon Co. An Assistant Coach in the 2nd region informed me of this rumor/fact. Wasn't Embrey already living in Lyon Co. to begin with?

Madisonville hired Will Weaver (Fort Campbell Defensive Coordinator) to take over as the new Head Coach for the Maroons.

Interesting... I was thinking of a Defensive Coordinator out of the Paducah area.

Make it a 3some. Hopkinsville TE/FB Chad Brown (6'4 255) has also signed with Dodge city. Brown just played 1 year of football. He struggled early with the speed of the game. As the year went on he got some confidence and made some plays to help the Hopkinsville offense. He really played well in the playoffs after he was moved to FB. Looking at these 3 (E.T., Antwain, & Chad) all 3 have their best football ahead of them. Taylor with just 2 years of organized football under his belt. Antwain Loving has yet to play a full year. He came out as a Junior and showed signs of being special but was dismissed from the team after the 3rd game of the year This year he missed the 1st 4 games of the season. Chad Brown always had a football body and size but was basketball 1st. This year he decided to play football and as the season went on he progressed into a nice player. Getting these 3 into a college program will help them physically & mentally. Help them mature as "Mama" won't be there to hold their hands.

Not yet. The talk on the coaching circuit says they made a push for Rick Snodgrass (Hopkins Co. Central). But he isn't going anywhere right now. He returns a lot next year and says he has his best freshmen and sophomore classes coming up. He thinks the best team he's had there will take the field in the very near future.

Diogenes I believe it was Jerry Reese who gave Southern fits. Reese played for UK and 5 years with the Steelers. Nobody scored in the first quarter that season against the colonels. One of the best defenses in state history!

1982 Christian County won the 4A Title beating #1 ranked Mark Higg's Owensbore by 30 points and then beat undefeated Bryan Station team 28-0 that had three players who played in the NFL one who is in the Hall of Fame. Both of these games were on the road. They also spanked Oldham County on the road and then easily defeated Lou.Southern in the finials. Has another 4A team won the title winning every playoff game on the road?

Hopkinsville has a good one again Trigg: One of the favorites to win 2A this year. Marshall: Solid team who should be the favorite in wky 6A @ Highlands: Enough said. Mercer: 2006 2A Champs!! Lincoln: Seem to always field a good team. Warren Central: Very solid. Christian County: No Tandy but athletic as it gets. Owensbore: Early favorite in our district.

No program/kids should have to go through 4 new Coaches in 4 years like they're going through. The players and fans really got close and behind Dixie Jones in 04 and Shannon Burcham last year.

Could be one of the better jobs in the area. Always had issues with administration along with other issues. A program that has had recent success with trips to the region title game in 99, 2000, & 04.

We'll be there our history shows we don't dodge nobody in the regular season. It's the only way you get better for the playoff season.

Breakdown the Hopkinsville 1st team & 1st rotation defense from a year ago and they gave up 16PPG a year ago. Now when you breakdown the special team TD's and Offensive turnovers that were returned for points then it's obvious higher. Last years defense wasn't steller but it wasn't as bad as people wanna make it out to be. The 1st 2 games they were lit up but you can also throw in the fact that in those games they was without 3 defensive starters. That portion of my statement is just for those Coaches scouting Hoptown the night they played Calloway Co. Something the defense did not do a year ago was score points. They set up 7 TD's and 4 FG's but did not get a defensive score. Offensively they won't replace E.T. at RB but will have 3 above average running backs and all 3 have their qualites. Cardell McGregor started last year at FB and this year will move to RB. Good between the tackles runner and can bounce it to the outside. Joe Harris came on strong last year at FB. Good lead blocker and learned not to always go for the kill shot. He will give them a yard gainer and bruiser in the middle. DeShawn Johnson is the smallest of the bunch but probably has the strongest lower body of the three. Gets to the corner will quickness and speed. More of a shaker & baker in the open field. All 3 have good hands and you might see more motion out of the backs then you have see the last 2 years. Who knows maybe we can get lucky and get a transfer to emerge at the RB position. I personally am high on the WR position. Darrick Dillard (Transfer from Atlanta) and Victor Moulden a Ft. Campbell transfer are good athletes with speed. Last year as sophomores they came on towards the end on both sides of the ball. Kyle Graham & Logan Adams give the offense possession WR's but not great speed. Graham is a 4.8 guy and Adams a 4.9 kid on a good day. Sophomore to be Darnell Davis 6'3 180 has all the potential to be the next stud in the program. Athletic & physically he is there and the mental aspect is starting to show. The TE position will be faster with Antwon Crayton 6'2 185. Not a great blocker but gives a pass catching threat they will have 2 other TE's that will be the blockers. The O-Line will be experienced unlike last year. I was high on the O-Line going into last year because they was going to be big & athletic. But prior to the season Coach Jones dismissed 2 starters which was the right thing to do. Last year they had 2 starters weighing 170 or less. Your going to struggle up front when you face the size and skill they saw up front early on. Hopkinsville recently completed their spring practice with 55 players. That's not including the kids that were out for baseball and track (The track kids did participate on certain days during the spring). Coach Jones has taken his share of jab remarks from the local media and others but he has the numbers up and has the kids support. In 2007 the offense will be more ballanced. It's gonna have to be IMO and this WR core could be as skilled as the 05 group so their gonna have to be involved. Stuart may struggle early on but he got some valuable experience last year inluding 1 game where he started so the staff already has a full varsity game film on him. A true consistent running game will be his best friend the 3-4 weeks of the season. Defensively I am confident they will be fine. More experience from last year. Hoptown had 8 sophomores either start or was part of the 1st rotation defense. Need to continue the momentum in the weightroom as I expect they will.

Don't overlook Hoptown this year in 5A. They have 8 back on defense and 8 back on offense. They only lost 1 linemen on both sides of the ball. Their JV team won the wky conference title with no losses and the freshmen team only lost one game last year. QB Marshall Stuwart looked good during spring paractice and many fans are buzzing how well he throws the ball down the field.

Emanuel Taylor (RB) & Antwain Loving (WR) of Hopkinsville will play next year at Dodge City Junior College in Kansas. Taylor became Hoptown's all-time leader rusher in just two years of organize football. He averaged around 200 yards a game his senior season. Loving is a big receiver with good speed with his best days ahead of him. There is a chance he can also play basketball. Both are expected to see significant playing time next season. Madisonville: Looking for a new Coach for the 4 consecutive year. Return one of the bigger Lines in Western, Ky next year with experience.
