Who is Lloyd's OC these days?

I'll take Lloyd. Aiken has played nobody. While their records are identical, Lloyd hammered NCC, which is way better than anyone Aiken has played.

Thank you. While I'm a big fan of Coverdale, I personally think he wasn't quite a good fit for X for whatever reason. The offense seemed kind of "clunky" during his tenure, if that makes sense. It didn't have the smoothness or quite the explosive identity it did at Trinity. Sometimes, phenomenal coaches just don't quite fit into certain teams. Just my outsider casual observer opinion.

So I heard him say this at a clinic forever ago, probably 20 or more years ago. He said they had an absolute stud of a kid. Fast, athletic, strong as an ox. But football didn't make any sense to him at all. He couldn't line up right to formations, didn't know how to determine the strong side vs weak side, gap assignments, coverages, etc. No matter what they did, he wouldn't remember any of it, for whatever reason. But they decided he had to be on the field because of how insanely good he was. So, he created the adjuster. Essentially, stay back at safety depth, and you have zero responsibilities. Line up wherever, do whatever you want.... blitz, cover, move around, we don't care. Just wreak havoc. So he did, and it worked. He just flew around making tackles all over the place. And opposing coaches couldn't figure out how this kid would line up in or whatever his job was. Opposing coaches thought it was this crazy complex thing, and they couldn't scheme around it becasue he'd be doing different things against the same formation each time. It was brilliant. And since then, that's been the adjuster every year. He tweaks it some based on who it is, but that's how it started.

Seen tape of him doing it, and saw a couple games live. Have you ever heard the story of how Specht came up with the idea of "the adjuster?"

Steve Specht, their Head Coach, may be the absolute best defensive mind around. Their 3-3 stack is legendary, often imitated, but never replicated. Theyve been running that defense for 30 or so years. It gives everyone fits.

Pretty simple, have fewer divisions and let fewer into the playoffs. Make the regular season actually meaningful.

And that's what is wrong with Kentucky football playoffs. You could have a 4 win team hosting a playoff game. No 4 win team should make the playoffs, let alone host a playoff game.

Agreed on Beechwood's speed. I thought they'd lose some of that with graduation last year, I was wrong.

I appreciate the candidness and honesty of this post. I know the job is often a thankless one. I do think the defensive scheme is MUCH improved, and execution the past 2 weeks was the biggest issue. I still very much dislike the offense. Best of luck tonight!

Well aware Dixie is a middle of the road team. Middle of the road teams finish .500. This team will not. And yes, the scheme is indeed that bad, if it wasn't then they'd actually score meaningful points against teams equal to them or better. I've never said on here Dixie should be winning the district or anything close. But to play respectable football most weeks and win 5 games or so with the occasional 7-8 win season every 4 years is what should happen. I understand there are ebbs and flows with talent, especially in a place like Dixie where you have 2 absolute juggernaut programs just down Dixie Highway, where you inevitably lose players to. I disagree with your idea that no matter the coach, they would have lost both games. Badin, absolutely they lose. Coaching IMO cost them the SK game. Lack of discipline and execution along with play calling cost them that one.

All of the above. Guys are always well covered. Guys drop numerous balls each week. QB is overthrowing most passes because he is flat footed, not stepping forward with his throws. O-line is getting beat like drums in 2 games. But more importantly it's scheme. It's a terrible scheme. You can't run 1 man routes in high school. You can't run pass plays directly into the heart of a defense. The passing scheme mostly consists of random assembly of routes that doesn't make sense. Lastly is the stubbornness to stay with the exact same formation throughout an entire series for the sole purpose of getting plays off fast. Formations are absolutely critical in getting a defense off balance and to figure out what they are doing and how to "set them up." But when you run the same Formations 5+ plays in a row during a drive, you eliminate SO much of how you can attack the defense, and you don't get a great read of how they react to different formations that you could use to your advantage.

Who would have thought that running the football and not turning the ball over would win games? Imagine that?

Beechwood should win big. But this is kind of a rivalry, so it will be closer due to that. I expect a similar game to last year.

Which is ? on the coaching staff and has been THE pattern the past 3 seasons. Badin made halftime adjustments, and Dixie didn't. As I said, in the 4th quarter, Dixie starters couldn't move the ball on Badin JV. Please change the offense. Please. It's quite literally killing any chances Dixie has at success. Nothing like going 3 and out and running 15 or so seconds off the clock and expecting to win.

It's VERY commonplace to have phantom or sketchy calls at The Pit, especially in close games. You would be amazed how many Cincy officials are Elder Grads.

Agree with all of this. Their RB was extremely impressive. They were an extremely well coached team. Dixie couldn't even score on their backups and what looked like quite a few JV players getting first varsity reps.

Shouldn't be a problem next week from what I've seen in 2 games from Dixie.
