Sorry, I missed an entire page somehow in this thread that answered my first question.

I have a couple of questions. 1. Do host schools get to keep any or all of the gates for playoff/tournament games? In Ohio, all post season contest ticket sales goes to OHSAA. So host schools lose quite a bit in hosting playoff games. 2. You do realize that almost every high school football program loses money right? They are not the cash cows people think they are.

I'm honestly surprised there aren't way more teams that decide not to participate in the playoffs. If I am one of those 0, 1, 2, or even 3 win teams, you know your fate is getting clocked early. Why would you want to put your team through that? It doesn't help you as a program, and it certainly doesn't help the team that is beating the brakes off of you. Playoffs should be about getting the best teams into the post season, period. KY needs to cut the playoff teams drastically, probably by half for the regular season to have any semblence of being meaningful and also to make the playoffs a goal for programs to achieve.

I expect Ryle big in this one. Ryle lost a few close games in the middle of the season, but seem to be rolling heading into the playoffs. They just dismantled SK, and I expect them to name the score this week. I don't think Dixie can stop Ryle's offense, and I think Dixie will have a hard time keeping Fields upright. If they can keep Fields clean at QB, this could be a shootout.

Who wins this cross-county showdown. Dixie travels down the road to Union to take on the Raiders of Ryle. Who comes out on top?

I'm with you. I think 4 should be the limit, unless a game you played 4 quarters in goes into overtime. I also hate the idea of kids bouncing around levels of football. Develop your players. If you are a freshmen playing up with JV, then have that kid play JV. Not part JV and full time freshman, or vice versa. Develop your younger guys. Give them reps. Quit taking away opportunities from other players because you want to win a freshmen championship. That's just dumb and doesn't matter whatsoever in the grand scheme of program building.

Good for Dixie freshmen. That's an unreal amount of penalties for a how short freshmen games are.

The caveat is that's grades 9-11 numbers in Ohio. Not sure if KY counts the same way for athletic purposes.

The Colonels make a short trek to take on the Rebels. Dixie is currently 2nd in the District. Boone actually has a winning record at the moment, which is huge for them. Who comes out victorious? Give me Dixie all day in this one, as Boone has had a very weak schedule most of the year. The Colonels will keep their 2nd place standing in the District.

Nice W by the Colonels last night. I was surprised by how small Conner's roster was. There was only about 35 kids dressed last night. I thought Conner was well coached, they just don't have much size or speed. I'm assuming they are a young team. Best of luck to both teams moving forward towards the end of the season.

Dixie only has the 1 field for football. They have a small practice field of grass that is maybe 40 yards. Scott has more than 2 fields and SK has enough room for about 8 fields.

So, a few questions I have for those following Conner and even Coach Rash. What were expectations for this season over the summer for Conner? Did they graduate a lot last year? In other words, was this season expected to be a down season or is this a surprise? With Coach Rash taking over, does this season somewhat hurt his legacy? I know there was a ton of hoopla with Coach Rash taking over the Cougars program. And don't get me wrong, Coach Rash is a top notch guy and coach, but let's be honest, it's way easier coaching at a place like Beechwood where you have a ton of talent and tradition in a cupcake district than a place like Conner. Does Rash stay for a few seasons to put his stamp on things? Or is it one and done for him?

Both teams are having a rough season to put it nicely. Each comes into this game at 2-5, so someone will pick up their 3rd win on Friday night. Who will it be? I'm not sure about this one. Both teams seemingly can't stop anyone on defense, and both teams can put up big numbers offensively against bad competition. This one is a toss up and can go either direction IMO. I think this one has the potential to be a shootout, with both teams lighting up the scoreboard. Can Dixie win a game with a team that is essentially equal to them? Or will Conner come out victorious on the road due to coaching? What are everyone else's thoughts?

Correct! Culture starts with the head coach. Even though I agree Spritzky teams were undisciplined, the few times I saw them, they were physical and had a scheme that fit their personel.

Dixie committed an absolute ton of penalties tonight. Had to be a dozen or more. Twice, they went 3 straight plays getting penalties. And they also did my absolute favorite thing.....spread 4 receivers out, run a 1 man go route while the other 3 just stand there like bad peewee football. I keep saying it, but this team is out disciplined almost every week under Burke. His teams have no toughness or grit. They cannot overcome adversity. They are disorganized. It really is that bad right now on Dixie Highway. My question is, what has improved under Burke? I know many Dixie fans didn't like Brossart for whatever reason, but my goodness look at what you have now. They'll beat Boone and then roll into playoffs with 3 whole wins. Cooper is a solid team, but in my 1 game observation of them, nowhere near the caliber they were last year.

I really don't think they would. There's not too many private schools overall that would be bringing in big bucks. There's a handful, but I don't think it would kill KHSAA. But, why would they have to leave? Couldn't KHSAA just create a separate private school division/league if you will? I don't think it will happen, nor do I think it should.

Definitely not. There is almost zero scrutiny over private schools, by KHSAA or by the Commonwealth itself. They do whatever they want, whenever they want.

I don't think they can because of line play and overall lack of speed.
