Cooper 42 Dixie 13

Final per the update thread.

Dixie committed an absolute ton of penalties tonight.  Had to be a dozen or more.  Twice, they went 3 straight plays getting penalties.

And they also did my absolute favorite thing.....spread 4 receivers out, run a 1 man go route while the other 3 just stand there like bad peewee football.

I keep saying it, but this team is out disciplined almost every week under Burke.  His teams have no toughness or grit.  They cannot overcome adversity.  They are disorganized. It really is that bad right now on Dixie Highway.

My question is, what has improved under Burke?  I know many Dixie fans didn't like Brossart for whatever reason, but my goodness look at what you have now.

They'll beat Boone and then roll into playoffs with 3 whole wins.

Cooper is a solid team, but in my 1 game observation of them, nowhere near the caliber they were last year.

Dixie had goal to go on Cooper 2 and called a timeout.  Had a touchdown called back for holding, then false start before the next play.  Had an incompletion and another false start ending with 4th and goal at 22.  Tough sequence to come back from with those types of mistakes.

Cooper also not the same team as years past.  But they are improving weekly.  They are finding new ways to move the ball on offense.  Tonight they gave up two potential touchdown drives from fumbles in Dixie territory.  But they brushed it off, fought back on defense and handled business in the end.

Keagan Maher had 170ish yard and 3 touchdowns tonight.  Maher's performance put him atop the leaderboard of All-Time rushing yards in Randall K. Cooper's 18 year history.  Ryker Campbell also had 3 touchdowns tonight.  Cameron O'Hara becomes the 12th player (based on KHSAA's outdated records) to pass for more than 10,000 yards in a career.  O'Hara had one passing touchdown tonight and sits at 129 Career Passing Touchdowns, #4 All-Time.  Jaguars are heating up at the right time.

I hear you on the discipline issue but even when Spritzky was the HC and Sorrell was his right hand man, they still had huge discipline issues. That’s 30 years ago, and it’s still happening. Is it a culture thing? I’m sorry but the HC has to be the  person to shut it down ( this applies to schools all over not just Dixie).

Correct!  Culture starts with the head coach.   Even though I agree Spritzky teams were undisciplined, the few times I saw them, they were physical and had a scheme that fit their personel.

O'Hara has passed over 10000 yards now I believe.

That might be because they had several really good players graduate lol. Very seldom do you get players like Alexander and Johnson as well as several really solid performers.

Congrats to Cooper on the win and winning the district. (I realize they have to win one more but they are playing Scott and Boone to finish it out, no disrespect to either of those schools)

Really interested for to see the Dixie/Conner game next week in what should be the battle for 2nd place in the district. That seems like a toss up game to me.
