Well, so much for getting literally anything out of your scrimmages. Why on God's green earth would you scrimmage two teams that are really, really bad?

It's been a while since there's been any activity on this thread. Any idea when the scrimmages are for Varsity? Are they the same day as the Freshman schedule posted above?

Question for the NCC fans. A buddy of mine teaches in CPS and said Coach Lickert is an assistant principal in Cincinnati Public. What time does NCC practice? I have a hard time seeing how a coach can make it to a traditional practice time right after school, given most administrators that I know personally are at their respective schools until 4 at the earliest, most are there until 5 or later.

There's no pending lawsuit. I'm saying I won't be surprised if one day there is. It's harder than old AstroTurf. I have no idea how the idea of their turf fill got approved for football.

I agree, don't follow scores or what even went well. When I was coaching high school, I would use 7 on 7s to really experiment on both sides of the ball. Defensively, I would purposely put my guys into bad situations to make them more aware of the strengths and weaknesses of our scheme....to make them much better players on Friday nights. There are coaches that want to win 7 on 7 and do whatever it takes to win it. Use it to build up your guys and really get some guys in different positions and and backups lots of reps.

Now that's an original and cool idea!

I've actually proposed in NKYFL meetings to shorten the season, outlaw these tournaments and punish organizations who have "optional" practices before the July start date. You would have thought I threatened their everyone's wives and families with the uproar that happened. These are kids. Safety is supposed to be the forefront of the league according to them, but will do nothing to actually promote safety among the players.

New to this and currently going thru having my second kid go through NKYFL. To put it bluntly the league is an absolute trainwreck and doesn't care about kids. All teams push these post season tournaments, which I won't let my own sons play in. Many teams have been "conditioning" aka practicing for a month now. Practicing is supposed to start Monday. The season is entirely too long. 2 weeks of practice before scrimmages. The first weekend of scrimmages typically involves most teams playing a scrimmage both Saturday and Sunday. Then the second weekend some teams still participate in 2 scrimmages. Starting the weekend of August 10, there is 9 regular season games. Yes, 9. Then 3 possible weeks of post season. Then many teams do these ridiculous tournaments until December. So there are kids involved for 6 months. And parents, NKYFL officials, etc are all perfectly fine with it. The one year I was coaching starters and refused to let our team play in River City Classic (tournament during week where games often get over after 9pm for 6-7 year olds). The NKYFL said the next season it was mandatory that our team participated to be part of the league. Player safety is a complete joke for 95% of the people involved. I continue to coach my youngest son's team because that way I can guarantee his and the rest of his team's safety, because it actually matters to me. Youth sports overall need a complete overhaul IMO. Every sport at the youth level is beyond terribly run, and it makes it extremely difficult to keep kids active and engaged in the current cesspool that is youth sports.

GCL pays their coaches, that's how they keep them from bailing to other schools. Money won't be a consideration for him if GCL schools come calling.

Ludlow's field is a lawsuit waiting to happen with how insanely hard the playing surface is. It's definitely going to cause tons of concussions.

I do not unless Beechwood is willing to open their checkbooks to compete with the type of money he'll command across the river. I still think he is the front runner if and when Elder opens up.

The point I'm trying to make is Beechwood has nothing in terms of facilities, academic or athletic, that most other schools don't have. Turkey Foot has green roof and tons of solar panels for energy efficiency. Cov Cath has pretty high tech Stem labs. Most high schools in the area have two gyms. Simon Kenton and Campbell County have greenhouses for agricultural type classes. I also suggest you check out IGNITE Institute which has an incredible academic campus completely different than any other school in NKY. Scott IMO has the best athletic facilities overall in NKY. Boone County and Ryle have facilities for academics and athletics that Beechwood could only dream of simply because Beechwood doesn't have room. Beechwood is a wonderful place with wonderful people, but to claim their facilities are second to none is being disingenuous at best, they don't even provide bussing for their elementary students, which is a basic universal right IMHO. And I definitely agree that Volker makes the move back across the river, especially if Beechwood wins state this year. He would make 100k+ at the larger Cincy public schools.

This right here. It's the staff and supporting community at schools that make them special.

What is the current project at Beechwood? Rebuilding of classrooms in the front? And those saying Beechwood has academic campus/facilities second to none really need to get to more schools in the area to see what they offer.

Has Beechwood made any scheme adjustments year 2 under Volker? I strongly feel that making their scheme more streamlined last season would've taken them further in the post season.

How does KHSAA account for NIL with this then since that's allowed and it's happening? I'm not being accusatory in any way, I want to know how it's scrutinized is all. It seems like a private school could have someone or some business give an athlete an NIL deal instead of aid directly from the school itself.

If accurate, you are right that the GCL schools in Cincy have been doing this for decades. LaSalle did it so much that they actually got into deep financial issues because there were too few kids actually paying tuition.
