I know the SK and Dixie games are good for our rpi but they sure aren't accomplishing much towards making our team any better.

For Dixie their changes need to start at the middle school level. Idk if they have any control over that unfortunately. But when the middle school coach and his staff have an adversarial relationship with your freshman jv and varsity coaches, that's bad news bears.

Can we talk about how scared EE has been to pass the ball with Cash at QB? Felt like the whole night was Cash left, Cash right, Gaiser left, Gaiser right, screen pass to Gaiser. Let's talk about the fact that Owen Pitzer (he's the one with D1 offers, Eddie) only had 2 freakin offensive touches. How about our 6-6 wideout Donovan Bradshaw who's taller than every player on Ryle's roster? We passed to him 3 times for 3 catches and 3 first downs but then just reverted for the rest of the game to running Cash and Gaiser and not even thinking about Pitzer. I know I know, last year it went pretty good doing that. But really can we talk about how uninspired EE's offensive plan is? And can we talk about the fact that we insist on having our starting qb play both ways and how EE forces him to run over to the sideline to personally get the playcall and then run back with it to the huddle every damn play? 35 or 40 plays offensive plays a game, Cash is easily running an extra 1000 or more yards each game just to get the stupid playcall. How about sending your play in with a different wr or rb like basically every other coach does instead of wearing out your qb with completely unnecessary running, Eddie? Instead we were down 2 scores with 9 mins left and EE is running down the play clock having Cash run back and forth from the sideline to get the play. Do we even have a hurry up offense at all? Like seriously do we? I don't think I've ever seen us run a 2 minute offense under EE. We needed scores and last night we were completely incapable of getting any plays off until the back judge had counted down to 5 or less seconds every play.

Don't you think that's St. Henry's goal too? And basically every other team out there?

So is your implication that a bad loss to a team one year means you shouldn't probably project a win over that same team the following year? Because if so imma need to remember that for the SK threads.

I'd swear I felt a slight breeze pick up in Park Hills around 2pm as the communal sigh of relief was let out by all the CCH faithful upon the arrival of the news that Greg Pass would not be the new ballcoach. Seriously though, glad to see it's Johnboy.

Totally right. Absolutely was a list of candidates and anybody who is telling people otherwise is just stirring pots and dumping wheat into the rumor mill.

That's the guy. The small handful of baseball guys from around town that I've talked to all seem to concur that he's not the greatest coach out there. Hearing there's an assistant or two from Moe now who've made their way in the discussion. I also hear there are some 1990's era CCH grads who think they need to try to lure Todd Etler back from his job in Texas LOL.

Hadn't heard Pass or Wermeling mentioned. Pretty sure the pipedream hire is Gray. It sounded like they were gonna take a flyer and pitch the job to him but I think the assumption was that he'd say no. Same thing with Ayler. There's also an assistant over at X that's being talked about. He's married into a CCH family but having GCL South pedigree has to look good to Bob & Tony. I'm assuming Michels has applied. He's worked with Coach Krump for years, spent time as head freshman and jv coach, both. Michels has been the forward face of CCH baseball to player parents for quite a while. Dunno if the admins would worry about him being more of the same as a head coach, but I think most everyone knows that Michels was so faithful as an assistant because he knew the wheels would completely fall off if Krump was left entirely to his own devices.

Wasn't told from any horses' mouths but I've heard from a couple of very reliable 2nd-hand sources now that Coach Krump was told he was retiring. Honestly he did hang on too long and it did do some damage his legacy. Bobby Bowden is still as an all-time great but there are still alot of FSU fans who still remember that he hung on too long. I think the same will go for Coach Krump.

I don't really feel like I said anything regarding acting untruthful, but I'm not shocked you're trying to grasp at that straw. I said the actions of some of the people at the Diocese made zero sense to me, but I didn't say they were being untruthful. You know its a sign of a poor argument when someone starts trying to put words into the other person's mouth, right? But yes I think the people at the Diocese are absolutely capable of making wrong choices about things. I think everyone is capable of making wrong choices. For example, I also think people who carte blanche believe everything that Joe Fredrick, Scott Ruthsatz, and Nick Ruthsatz say is overcompetently capable of making wrong choices. I'm yet to meet a person who hasn't made wrong choices. So yeah, the Diocese is also capable of making wrong choices. I think they have made wrong choices before. I just think personally that they made the right choice when they ushered Scott Ruthsatz out the door.

Correct. Fredrick was removed as assistant coach at CCH in the fallout following his text exchange with Logan Wermuth. Then Fredrick immediately contacted Deacon Jim Fortner, chief operating officer of the Diocese, and met with him to discuss. It is important to point out that Jim Fortner had not been involved in the decision making process to remove Fredrick from his coaching position at CCH. Also important to point out that Fredrick and Fortner had a relationship dating back 15 years prior to a handful of years that Fredrick spent coaching his and Fortner's sons. In fact the two may have even coached the team together at one point. Anyway, Fredrick pressured Fortner about his status with the Diocese since he felt it may reflect poorly on him in his professional career. Fortner backed off on the stance taken by the parties who released Fredrick from his coaching job and he told Fredrick all was good. Fredrick asked for that in writing and Fortner capitulated, getting him a letter from the Diocese stating that he was in good standing to volunteer and work within the Diocese. That would be the letter that was being mentioned and was attached in the posts above. It makes zero sense to me why the Diocese would do that but the Diocese oftentimes does things that make zero sense to me. Connections will get you places though. Fact remains that Fredrick was let go as a CCH assistant coach for texting Logan Wermuth and essentially telling him to transfer out of CCH, and then he was also given a letter by the Diocese that he was in good standing.

Not reaching. The texting flap occurred between Joe Fredrick and Logan Wermuth. Screenshots of the texts were sent to the diocese and that situation directly contributed to Joe's dismissal as assistant coach. My info about kids being pressured by basketball coaches not to play other sports aka football came directly from players in 3 of the 5 cases I mentioned. It isn't exactly news headline of the year when a parent isn't getting a complete story from their teenage son. You can say I'm drinking CCH good ole boy KoolAid. Feel that way if you want but I think I've got a pretty long track record on here of openly criticizing CCH shortcomings when I've seen them. Its clear that you drink all the Scott Ruthsatz is a saint has never done wrong KoolAid that he and Nick have offered you. We clearly see situation this from opposite sides.

I totally expected you to defend that question being asked. The problem wasn't the fact that Ruthsatz and staff were playing the better players. It was that they were completely casting aside the players who those better players were replacing. The problem was the fact that instead of coaching kids to get better there were coaches on staff texting players and telling them things like 'you best just transfer to another school if you ever want a chance at getting quality playing time on a varsity basketball team.' And its the fact that their entire defense of the way their system worked was to just restate that bolded question.

Chandler Starks, and his name should be bolded and underlined 3 or 4 times. Jake Walter. Noah Johnson. Donovan Bradshaw. Luke Lenihan.

Luke was one of 3 guys on the team to play in all 35 varsity games in his JR year but then he only saw the court once as a SR. Ruthsatz and Fredrick didn't like it when their players were on the football team and that was never any secret. Sure they played some guys where were undeniably talented by they still discouraged their kids from playing football. They were also always on the lookout for the next greatest player to replace the ones they already had. Lenihan got to his SR year and between continuing to play football and the coaching staff's unending mission to end up with bigger and better players, Luke was persona non grata to the coaching staff once football season ended. Coach Ruthsatz made that loud and clear to Luke around Christmas tourney time and Lenihan was off the roster not long after. Yes, Ruthsatz and Fredrick led the team to win a state championship that year too but it's very safe to say there are alot of people at CCH who don't like the method they used to do it. Ruthsatz and certain members of his coaching staff were great for the CCH basketball program but absolutely terrible for the CCH community. Families that were involved at CCH for generations moved on to other schools after seeing how Ruthsatz gave zero craps about their kids if they didn't ball out well enough. Ruthsatz and his staff chose to remain completely blind to that being any kind of issue. Many of their starting players chose to remain completely blind to that being any kind of issue. They just respond with "What are we not supposed to start a kid that's better than all the others just because he's new?" I didn't make it to a home game this past season until the Highlands game in January. After the game I was standing around talking with a group of boosters who are on the event staff for games and I asked them how they felt about the coaching change at CCH after a month of watching Thelen. One guy immediately said "Thelen is a huge personality upgrade." One of the others said "Ruthsatz really moved the program forward but I think there are a whole lot of us relieved he's moved on" and another laughed and said "relieved he's moved on without causing the entire school to implode."

I've been consistently surprised in the last 3 or 4 years talking to Blessed Sacrament and Pius parents who've said their sons are going or want to go to St. Henry. A bunch were basketball parents. They all said their sons knew full well that they'd never play over the newest and greatest that Ruthsatz had coming in from elsewhere. Nick Ruthsatz illustrated that perfectly with his comments belittling Jack Lenihan's son's playing ability. The irony there is that the Ruthsatzes were Pius parishioners and the wife taught at Pius, and I'm pretty sure Joe Fredrick is in the Blessed Sacrament parish.

I can think of more than a few families that've traditionally been "CCH families" that have virtually washed their hands of the school thanks to Ruthsatz and company who would be more than happy to have their sons settle into playing for a quality basketball coach elsewhere in the diocese.

Racist? Lol well now I'm completely and utterly confused. Ya know what, I don't really care to hear whatever explanation anyone tries to make for that though. Some people have made it clear that they are taking one side here and some people have made it clear that they are taking the other. And that's cool. That's one of the neat parts of being American. We can all have differing opinions on things and it's okay. And it's okay when one person gets on Facebook and rants like a lunatic, and it's okay when he gets himself all pumped up by counting page clicks because "he's just made different". It's all okay. Well, his ability to pose a logical string of thoughts on social media isn't exactly okay, but oh well. And well, his grasp of English grammatical syntax isn't okay either. It frankly seems about equivalent to a chimpanzee with a traumatic brain injury, but again, oh well. Anyway, I think I'm out on this one. Looking forward to the HOF banquet being a thing of the past.

There are some people at CCH who would argue that Scott's legacy doesn't exactly uphold the values you rattled off. Particularly fairness. And if you're saying "we" so as to imply that you're part of the CCH community, and then in the same breath you're going to say that no one can argue that Scott deserves to be honored in the hall of fame more than any other coach in Cov Cath's basketball history, then clearly you haven't ever met Bob Naber, George Schneider, or Dan Tieman. All three of those men put multiple decades into CCH and into its basketball program. Two of them played in the program and graduated from the school. All of them worked primarily with the kids who came through the diocesan feeder schools instead of casting aside the feeder school kids in favor of junior and senior transfer students who happened to show up on their doorstep. If you want to talk about fairness and integrity, let's talk about that. If you think deservedness is nothing but a matter of regional titles and state championships then sure, Ruthsatz has it in spades. But don't come here and try to tell us that Scott Ruthsatz has ever operated with more faith, fairness and integrity than Bob Naber, George Scheider and Dan Tieman.

Is Ruthsatz being the bigger man if he didn't even inform his own family that he had been fired from the job, and opted to embrace the "decided it was time to step away from coaching and get back into the family company" story line instead? Is Ruthsatz being the bigger man by allowing his son Nick to post these rants of incorrect and half-true information because he incorrectly believes that his dad wasn't fired?

The principal and AD are basketball guys before anything else. They knew Ruthsatz was gonna get in at some point so they went ahead and made it happen this year since his son Nick was voted in. That way they could go in at the same time. Correct.
