  1. I would love to know who the selection committee is.
  2. Clemson is completely out if they lose to ND. No way they should be in. 2 loss team should be out in general unless there’s nothing but 2 loss teams. And I am a Clemson fan. I hope that fact is in their heads this week.
  3. I heard Homer Rice is coming back to do it.
  4. Logic would say that yes. If OSU looses to Clemson again in football though it is officially a voodoo cosmic thing going back to the punch.
  5. Its going to be OSU's worst nightmare. Clemson wins, Notre Dame drops to 4 and the Woody Hays punch curse continues in the semi finals. And honestly I predict a ND and Clemson final. ND can beat Bama, SEC is the weakest its been in 40 years. I love how everyone hates Dabo by the way. If your head coach is not hated by other fan bases it means your trophy case is dusty. Bama Clemson (beats ND by a TD) OSU Notre Dame (still gets in)
  6. This is a fun state championship match up. Two old school staples of the second biggest classification. But they were usually on the same side of the bracket. BG seems to be a very good, balanced, disciplined football team. Owensboro just kind of has that spark though. Coin flip, whoever has the ball last. BG. 35 O. 34
  7. Ha, no there really is. I wasn't joking about Eddie is coming to Highlands. That is just the only farm I know of in Fort Thomas, Crowell Ave. Not a real farm, more of a big yard with farm animals.
  8. I know Trinity is filled with talent this year. It's just seems like it's been 20 years since X beat T in the playoffs. T is a heavy favorite, but it just feels so "for sure" and already written in the books.... it has to happen some year. There has to be a time T comes out flat and X plays their butts off? You can't tell me a school X's size doesn't have some great athletes.
  9. I think there is a small farm right by where Eddie Eviston grew up in Fort Thomas.
  10. With Brian it's kind of complicated. He did that for 20 years as an assistant and was a great #2 for the program during probably it's best years. I believe he did that as a head coach initially but I think being a head coach and the weight of the job skewed his priorities possibly? Maybe he was over cautious about making everybody happy? Maybe his strategy for delegating to assistant coaches was flawed? I have no idea, I wasn't in that locker room. I can tell you he was a great coach when I had him as a coach, I'd run through a brick wall for him. Maybe it was never being a head coach before and then having to follow legend? I wish nothing but the best for Brian, I would guess where ever he goes next he is successful.
  11. Duffy was winning state championships for Danville and took the job. Highlands was in a similar state as now. Not everyone gets it, but Highlands is rocket ship of a program with the right guy behind the wheel. You have a good point though Boyle is a really good program that has actually really elevated even further in the past 5 years.
  12. I actually think right now is the best time to come to Highlands to be head coach maybe all time best. Reasons: 1. Highlands football program is a top 10 program in high school football history. Nationally. 2nd most wins nationally. 20+ state championships. The community has supported generations and decades upon decades of winning hs football. That is still there. 2. Whoever is the new coach could be the guy to guide Highlands to most wins in national history. It might take him 12 years but it’s not that far away. 3. Don’t have to follow Coach Mueller. Coach Weinrich has taken that burden and that probably got to him at least on some level. Coach Weinrich is a great coach and a great guy. 4. Who ever steps in has a clean slate and can do things their way, without too many complaints. Yes, you have to run around the goal post and you can’t change the uniforms. But the old way is out and the program needs a fresh start. 5. Talent is there/ not there?? It might have been slightly down the past few years but there are enough athletes in those halls to get the job done. The next few years look pretty good and there is veteran QB with two years left. Plus x highlands stars from the 90s era like Phil Shearer and Scott Kuhnhein have a bunch of sons about to come up into the the program in the next 5-7 years. Lorenzen’s son is a 6th grader I think? 6. Great facilities, great town to raise a family. That isn’t unique to this exact time but it is nice. If you think Highlands fans are unrealistic you’re wrong. Look at our history, the state championships are real, really real. And they were there before Dale. There is a standard. You don’t have to win a state championship every year. You just have to do everything you can do to win a state championship every year.
  13. I know exactly what you mean but some Highlands coaches adjusted to this. Sometimes Highlands has big guys sometimes quick guys and they adjusted their game around that. Having players adjust to the system never works as well as having the system adjust to the players. When Highlands beat Cincinnati St Xavier, if you looked at the line for each team you would say Highlands had no business playing this team.
  14. I get it that Cov Cath wants to make back some money but they just priced it about $6 too much for me to do it. $9 I’d do it in a second. People can stomach paying that much if their kids are playing or it’s going into their community but that’s it. They’ll make half what they would have if they priced it reasonably. I’ll watch the updates and keep my money.
  15. I don't charter buses anywhere, I am not an entire high school and most people that would watch online are not high schools either... $15 is just not worth it for watching it on a computer when I don't have any biological kids playing. I think most people would agree that is too much. You drop it to $8 people like me would pull the trigger on it. You should pay me $2.00 for reading my post if $15 is throw away cash. I know Catholics put a lot more money into their church, but they get more out of it than a random person (in theory). It should never be more than the cost actual admission. Again, good for them for doing it for free this week.
  16. How did Lex Cath beat Cov Cath? Or did Cov Cath beat themselves in that loss? During the regular season game Highlands got dominated on both sides of the line. Is there a way they don't repeat this? Highlands needs to play their A game and for Cov Cath to play their D game (which they have stooped to this year once or twice). Highlands also needs to have the ball bounce their way a couple times and win the turnover battle. It will take all of those things for the Birds to win. It seems extremely unlikely that Highlands will win, but sometimes that's when the craziest things happen. First step for Birds is: believing in themselves.
  17. See I knew Cov Cath would take the high road. Sorry if it came off as trashing on Cov Cath, their broadcast is great. I just can't spend $15 on watching high school football on a computer screen, and my job was not effected by Covid. So good for Cov Cath, and I apologize for jumping to conclusions.
  18. You're right they should really get rid of the cheerleaders and get some adult dancers that really know what they're doing too.
  19. I guarantee you they would make more money off of it if they dropped it to like $9. Probably get over double the amount of people. And why not get Cov Cath high school kids to do it like the Highlands format? They stumble through it a little more but it's fun to see a high school kid try something and succeed.
