Had my days wrong - the men will play at 11:30 tonight on NBC Sports Network.

Both USA teams have completed group play. USA Men go 4-1 (only loss was 1-point loss to 2018 world champs Great Britain) and finish 2nd place in their group. Will play Turkey in quarterfinals at 11:30 PM Wednesday night. USA women go 3-2 and finish 3rd place in their group. Will play Canada in quarterfinals at 11:30 PM Wednesday night. Check it out if you get a chance it's a great sport and this is your chance to watch it played at the highest level!

Emmy Kaiser from Fort Mitchell will be competing in the Paralympics in wheelchair tennis.

You need to come out and watch us play in person some time. Hopefully we'll be hosting a tournament in the fall.

So in able-bodied basketball once I take 1 step I have to dribble. In wheelchair basketball every time I touch my wheels twice (whether to push forward or just to turn/readjust) I have to dribble or else it's traveling. So if I push really hard when it's possible to go maybe 30-40 feet without having to dribble again. But in wheelchair basketball you can dribble, pick the ball up and then start dribbling again - there is no such thing as double-dribbling in wheelchair basketball. GAME RECAP The Dragons started the game on a 12-0 run but Atlanta quickly answered back with 8 straight points. Dragons held onto a 6 point lead at halftime. Dragons scored 6 straight points to start the 2nd half but Atlanta goes on a run and eventually takes their first lead with about 10 minutes left. Back and forth the last few minutes. Both teams have unsuccessful opportunities to take the lead in the last minute. Dragons win the tip in overtime and hit a 3-pointer on first possession, start overtime with a 7-0 run and hold on to the 55-50 victory. The Dragons finish the season with an undefeated 28-0 record and win their first national championship. Congrats to Alex Hilgeford (Beavercreek OH) for winning tournament MVP, Gabe Taylor (Augusta KY) for winning championship game MVP and making 1st team all-tournament and Kerwin Haake (Lexington KY) for being named 2nd team all-tournament. Super proud of this group! Their national tournament was canceled last year and we weren't sure if we would have a season this year. But these kids went to work. We started conditioning last June pushing 5-6 miles in 95 degree heat on outdoor trails, practiced on outdoor courts until we could get back in the gym and followed every Covid protocol/guideline without any complaining. Now they are national champions!!

The Dragons are the 2021 Varsity Wheelchair Basketball National Champions!! I will post more about the game tomorrow after we drive home from Kansas.

Back and forth game before Dragons close it out in the last 5 minutes. We had beat Charlotte handily twice earlier this season but today was a battle. Dragons advance to national championship game tomorrow against #2 seed Atlanta at 1:00 Eastern time. We have beat Atlanta 3 times this year but all 3 were close games.

Dragons open game on a 15-0 run and play some suffocating defense to hold Racers to 28 points. Dragons advance to national semifinals against the #4 seed Charlotte Hornets tomorrow at 11:00 Eastern time.

Dragons open up a 27 point halftime lead and cruise to victory. Next up is quarterfinals against Indianapolis tonight at 7:00 PM Eastern time.

The Cincinnati Dragons Wheelchair Basketball Team has arrived in Wichita for the national tournament! The #1 ranked Dragons' first round game will be against the the winner of #16 Baltimore/#17 OKC at 1:00 PM Friday 6/25. It's official - the Cincinnati Dragons (with players from both OH and KY) finish the regular season with a 24-0 record and ranked the #1 team in the nation! We will be heading to the national tournament in Wichita next weekend where our first game will be Friday 6/25 at 1:00 Eastern Time against the winner of #16 Baltimore Blazers vs. #17 OKC Thunder. Not sure if it's still the same policy but as of a few years ago LCA never challenged transfers so anyone that transferred out of LCA was always eligible at their new school.

The Cincinnati Dragons Wheelchair Basketball Team won their first ever Midwest Conference Championship this weekend at St Xavier HS in Cincinnati. The Dragons finished the weekend 5-0 to cap off an undefeated 24-0 regular season. We were really happy for our 3 seniors to get to play 1 last home tournament. Next up is the national tournament in Wichita on June 25-27. With a hard-fought 68-57 victory over a very good Atlanta Hawks team, the Dragons win the Big Peach Slam Jam Tournament!!

Dragons varsity team goes 3-0 in pool play today and advances to play Atlanta Red in the Peach Jam Championship tomorrow at 12:30. Varsity record now stands at 18-0 for the season. Our high school wheelchair basketball league plays with a shot clock. We bought one for $700 last year. I don’t see the huge financial burdens that a lot of people claim it will cost.

68 runs scored in 3 innings!

According to the Herald Leader 523 out of 40000 students in Fayette County requested an extra year. 242 of those were high school students. Courier Journal says 770 of 96000 students in Jefferson County requested an extra year. One other interesting thing I was not aware of is that students can’t retake classes from previous years or take new classes. So basically you have to take the exact same schedule you had this year.

There haven’t been any rankings yet. But I would expect us to be #1 nationally as we are the only undefeated team left and have played against good competition.

Dragons win the KC Crossroads Tournament with victories in the semifinals over Milwaukee (50-21) and finals over Kansas City (64-31). The Dragons are now 15-0 on the season!! Next tournament will be in Atlanta on May 15.
