Blind taste test. Would you take a SG 25 ppg who shoots 54% from 3pt range and 58% from the field or PG 17ppg 33% from 3pt range and 50% from the field? Positional need I guess?

Talented yes, great for them that they are going to college to play. Not disparaging the kids at all. They can play. I hope all KY kids do great things.

Rankings schmankings. What are they based on? Certainly not statistics. Summer AAU circuit?

And while I am at it. Give me Conley or Morrison for player of the year against the field.

For what it is worth, personal opinion only. It will be a four team race in the 8th. No particular order. Spencer, Collins, South Oldham, North Oldham. (Forgive me if this has already been said, have not read entire thread)

I have not seen many teams from out in the state but do not sleep on South Oldham.

I think along with having talented kids that are able to compete, the parents of those talented kids need to be "on the team" as well. If the coach can get the kids AND parents to buy in you stand a great chance of success. Players and parents need to "pull in the same direction".

Going to the region is one thing. Having the talent to compete and win the region is different.

My opinion is this would be a good job for a new varsity coach to get some experience at the varsity level before moving on. The talent that was at Walton the last 3 to 4 years was once in a generation for that school.

I have no inside information. Just going on initial, pessimistic gut feeling. Not going to have the talent to compete in the top level in the 8th again for a while. Sounds like he is getting out on top.

Strictly my opinion, the NBA is purely entertainment and they use 6 personal fouls to keep the stars from fouling out. Nobody is paying $150 per seat to see Lebron or Steph Curry sit out with foul trouble. It would hurt the brand. High school basketball is the purest form of the game. Leave it alone.

I feel the shot clock would be a mistake. I loved it the last 3 seasons when Walton and South Oldham got together. On one hand you have South Oldham who wants to shoot about every 7 seconds and score in the 70's and 80's, and on the other Walton who wants to grind you down and would be perfectly happy playing a game in the 40's. Watching one team try to speed the other up and watching the other try to slow them down is fun to watch. Plus what has already been said about the lesser teams getting drilled by even more of a spread. This would only benefit the teams that shoot well and have the ability to play up tempo. But what do i know...

If we are talking about who gets the most out of the talent they have to play with. Steve Simpson gets a vote. Especially over the last 10 seasons or so. Talk about a team that never looks the part but then can go out and hang 80 points.

I couldn't agree more. You have to have the horses to win. Not a knock on any coach. If you have great talent you will win a bunch of games. I for one do not understand how coaches are held up on a pedestal.

My call is 54-50. 54 wins.
