  1. What year was he the OC at Western High School and were they any good that year?
  2. This is the reason why you want to keep things as quite as possible. The fact that people are saying it has been offered and if that coach turns it down and they have to offer it to another candidate then they may not take it either because they weren't the first choice by the committee. Starts to be a trickle down effect. If I interviewed and taking the job required moving my family I wouldn't wanna find out I am the 3rd or 4th choice. Generally that means you are the guy they really didn't want so before you have even called a play the people who hired you don't believe in you.
  3. Is hiring from within not a Western KY guy? Only people on staff who you can say would be considered would be Smith or
  4. Who does McCracken try to target for this job? There are some local coaches in the area with head coaching experience and that have been successful. A few names that come to mind are Johnathan Smith, Lance Gregory, and Mike Rogers. Or do they try to land their unicorn in Joe Morris? A few years ago some people will say Coach Morris was close to taking this job before Clark was hired. Lets get the pot stirred up on this one. I believe this is an important hire for McCracken with Henderson getting stabilized under Coach Boston, Coach Edge at Apollo is turning that program around, Daviess County should regress with losing the QB but are looking like a program that is building towards consistency, and now the consolidation of Hoptown and Christian could make McCracken be the 3rd or 4th best team in the district if the right hire isn't made.
  5. Bullet Central is open as well. Could he be making the decision to take that job and not have to sell his home and move to Lexington?
  6. Maybe they aren't where you are from but they are where I live at. Heck there are county schools that border each other that have open enrollment agreements with each other. These agreements were made thinking in the best interest of kids so they could attended a school that offered the programs they wanted to be a part of without a financial burden as long as they can provide their own transportation and the school has enough room to take the student.
  7. Yes if it is a county with multiple schools it is open enrollment so you get to attend where you want as long as you have your own way of transportation with no tuition.
  8. Most schools are open enrollment so there is no tuition anymore.
  9. If this many students are choosing BE over BC and the administration is wanting the coach fired because of low numbers then shouldn't they take a good look in the mirror at firing themselves? Kids transferring for sports can be an issue but hundreds of students are not choosing BE because of football only. This seems like a shady deal from the outside looking in. When a guy has a 6 year run that's probably the best in school history and he gets canned after a 9 win, district championship, and regional appearance all I can say is good luck finding somebody to take this job unless they already have somebody and needed an excuse to get the current guy out.
  10. This one got really quite all the sudden. Anybody hearing about applicants or front runners?
  11. You always make sure the job is offered before you start making demands. This is how you determine how committed the school/boosters are to the program. You will never get more things done by the school system and boosters by making demands after accepting the job because you already said yes. I can 100% tell you that no coach who isn't desperate is not relocating their family if their wife is a teacher and she is not guaranteed a job that she is going to be happy with. The statement "Happy wife, Happy Life" applies to football coaches especially at the high school level.
  12. What I am seeing on the school report card for Douglass they are at 796 male students with the Junior and Senior classes being the smallest and the Freshman and Sophomore classes being much bigger. If the incoming Freshman class is as big as the current one they should pick up another 50 male students. Now I don't know for certain how correct these numbers are since nobody knows until the KHSAA officially gets the enrollment but this would easily place them in 6A based on the last alignment numbers.
  13. Schools are still operating off their 2019-2020 enrollment numbers for ADA money because of COVID. That is probably why the KHSAA does not have every schools current enrollment. I think we will see a lot of movement this alignment because some areas of the state are really growing and some are really shrinking.
  14. Who says you have to go get a current head coach? Most good coordinators want to be head coaches and are hungry to be successful. Yes If I'm a head coach with great facilities and in a good school system and program I'm probably not looking at Frankfort. If I'm a young coordinator who wants to be a head coach and build a program the way I want with school/community support behind me then I am absolutely looking at Frankfort.
  15. Lots of places have poor facilities but if you want to revamp a program and the school is committed to it then hire somebody who is willing to go out and get money from donors, fundraising, etc. Poor facilities for a new coach is an opportunity to build something.
  16. Then it looks like they are making the correct decisions. If you do not have a strong youth and middle school program then you cannot have a strong high school program. Getting those two areas corrected if you wanna right the ship is the correct moves. This will also open a position up on the high school staff for a new coach to bring somebody with them potentially if they can make a job in the district.
  17. Most schools that are 1A-3A share athletes. Its just how it is even your power house 1A programs have players that play everything which they should be. Key is all coaching staffs working together because you aren't helping each other out by not sharing players.
  18. Like they are trying to rebuild the program type moves?
  19. What are the in's and outs that would keep a coach from applying for this job?
  20. This job still has not been posted to the district website or on KHSAA. Are there any in house candidates that are up for this job? Has anybody thought that maybe it wasn't that Coach Foley was looking at other jobs for being let go or that he was pushing for the district to make improvements in the facilities and they wouldn't back him? A coach with his reputation would have strong community support and when the community starts putting pressure on administration we all know how that usually works. A superintendent especially a new superintendent might not want a Head Football Coach with more support and pull than they have. Just something to throw out there.
  21. Yes and I promise the entire town of Frankfort is much larger than were I am from in far Western KY and we are still able to sell naming rights to sports complexes and advertising.
  22. The school doesn't have to build them alone. Frankfort is not a small town there are local businesses that may want to get involved with naming rights and branding. Times have changed and budgets are tight so in order to get the upgrades you need you have to think outside the box.
  23. Well if they want to continue to do that then they need to get some of the facilities in place to attract more kids.
  24. Not trying to compare them as far as having equal facilities but people are acting like the facilities are so bad you cannot attract a good coach or players.
  25. I feel like this is a job that a solid young coach would be interested in taking. Somebody who can come in and energize the program and maybe get some kids out that aren't playing and possibly slow down kids leaving to go play at Franklin County. In order to do that the school system has to be willing to update the facilities in order to prove they are willing to support the program. If the facilities are as bad as people are saying it still might not be enough because from what I have seen Franklin County is doing what needs to be done to support athletics.
