Not necessarily a sleeper, but absolutely a fast riser in Highlands' program is William Herald. A 6' Frosh 2023, he can fill it up from distance, plays solid defense, can handle the ball, and has the most competitive spirit of any player in that class. Herald will likely play JV this season, but could and should see Varsity time and would most certainly be a solid contributor. Watch out for him in years to come, a prolific scorer with a strong basketball IQ and will to win. He's a great kid too; father Kenny coaches the Frosh team at Highlands.

I believe WV has a skilled Frosh Guard coming in, Carter Krohman. Played last season at SK as an 8th grader and can fill it up from deep. Nice bloodlines.

Going forward, please list the school with the player's name for those of us not completely familiar with all players / teams. It's hard to keep up. Thanks Horn is a Soph at Cov Cath.

IMO - Hard to tell. Depends on who plays. Some teams have frosh or underclassmen who play JV that they pull down for frosh tourney. If that happens, Cov Cah, Dixie and St. Henry in that order.

There are a couple very good teams playing in the 8th grade Boys Division.

Small School 7th Boys Bracken Co. over RA Jones 8th Girls Tichenor over Bracken Co. 8th Boys Beechwood over Newport

In “Small School” division, Finals at Campbell County Middle Saturday in 8th grade, Beechwood vs Newport 02/07 Semi Finals at Tichenor Beechwood over Tichenor by a lot and Newport got past RA Jones by a few.

Not sure of the name, but I think she might be dominant left handed. If not, she's as good left as she is right. She has long blonde hair and wore a pony. The other player is good, but the one I am referring to is special good.

I've heard Small School tourney has first round games at Newport, semi finals at Tichenor, and Finals are at Campbell Co. Middle.

Top 7th grade girls player I've seen is the big from Ballyshannon. She is the real deal, very quick, polished, handles well, shoots well. Dominates games by herself. She had about 27 against Turkeyfoot 7th. Another great player is Hamilton from Conner. She does it all well as a guard. She can handle, pass, and shoots very well from distance. Both seem to be nice girls too. These would be 1-2 IMO.

8th grade finals moved from Saturday to Sunday, St. Thomas had a conflict for Saturday’s original time. St. T would have to beat Beechwood back to back, first game tips at 2:15, second game would be right after that unless Beechwood wins.
