  1. Most would expected a big win, but Ryle looked really good. They moved the ball well and defended with a revived intensity. They were missing their leading scorer Abbey Holtman. But this win was needed after two really tough games to end regular season. I still think Ryle is in the mix to win the region and contend at state.
  2. JV - Notre Dame beat Bishop Brossart Frosh - Notre Dame beat Highlands List (incomplete) of awards, Please add the ones I missed: JV MVP - Megan McGraw (NDA) Maya Lawrie (NDA) Carly Tranter (NDA) Zoee Meyers (Brossart ____(Brossart) Zene Thompson(Copper) Gracie Carrigan (Ryle) Morgan Bonno (Cru) Amani Nelson (Holy Cross) Katie Bucher (HHS) Avery Jones (Boone) Ava Brown (Conner) Delaney Green (NewCath) Abby Garrett (Ludlow) Freshman Ryan Birden (NDA) Megan McGraw (NDA) Sophia Durstock (NDA) Adrienne Harris (HHS) Natalie Hynnegarter (HHS) Jalen Jones (ryle) Jane Knollman (Cru) Riley Hodge (HC) Izele Corns (Conner)
  3. More runners!!!! Easy layups. its that simple. Love the runner strategy and think it could be the next big thing.
  4. Was just total domination from the tip. ND played bigger, faster, and more creative than Ryle. Ryle has more individual talent but Notre Dame outplayed them utilizing their bench, tough defense, and efficient offense. I've seen ND be plagued with foul trouble around the rim but was very discipline tonight against the Raiders and this seemed to really frustrate Ryle that typically gets to the line a lot. This was unexpected. Both have big games coming up.
  5. Not really sure about what is meant with the "center defensively cannot shoot". Coach Arlinghaus has a good offensive scheme for their team in my opinion and proven throughout their season. The Indians scored 60 in regulation even while connecting less than normal so I don't think anyone is realistically saying the Indians are easy to defend. This game was about HC missing some key free throws, foul trouble, playing at Brossart (just leave it at that) and many odd long rebounding situations that went to Brossart giving them second chances, but it is part of the game and allowed Brossart to pick up the win. Brossart is a not a high-percentage shooting team, but the second chances were key to them scoring a high number and they picked up a nice win in between more usual performances to Highlands and Cooper.
  6. SH is a very impressive team. If ND shots the ball better they have an opportunity of beating SH if they meet at State, however that is two games against SH that ND has shot poorly. So says something about SHs defense and their 2x3 zone. ND missed a lot of good opportunities especially in the early/mid 4th q.
  7. Great list. Lots of talented players in the 9th region. Your comments about ranking players is spot-on. Top players are consistent, impact the level of their teammates, change the way the other team plays. Then the eyeball test, that varies totally with each of us keyboard warriors. With the difference of school sizes and schedules, stats can be key indicators or deceiving. Either way, the list above is all players that should be celebrated for their accomplishments and play. The players most impressive to me are: Anna Hamilton - she makes her teammates better and is a fierce competitor that can get her shot off and score. I never anticipated Conner playing as good as they are and I think that is due to Hamiltons play. Big contributions from Lauren Hawthorne as well. She would be my POY Macy Feldman - has been the key player on the best team in the region. She impacts all areas of the game and is very versatile. Abby Holtman - is the best offensive player in the region. All the players you listed are worth watching.
  8. Wasn’t the cleanest of games, foul heavy and was somewhat close until middle of the 3rd. Notre Dame really made scoring tough on Ursuline as indicated by the score which ultimately made the difference. Notre Dame pulled away in the 3rd and Ursuline scored some late points. Ursuline was led by Stuhlreyer and Van Schaik who are two nice players. Notre Dame was led by Bradshaw with 20+ and Hubert with 15. Feldman handled a lot of pressure from Ursuline and nice minutes from 9th grader Maya Lawry. Notre Dame looks like a really formidable team right now.
  9. Incredible play that is on 859 insider. Hamilton makes a great steal and goes down to hit winning 3. Wow that kid is a great competitor.
  10. Notre Dame just dominated NewCath. By the end of 1Q NCC had visibly given up. 49pts at half. By 3Q it was running clock. ND did whatever they wanted. ND looked good in all areas of the game. Their press was aggressive. Half court defense was frustrating. They pushed the ball offensively and their offensive weapons were firing. ND controlled rebounds defensively and offensively. ND bench looked really strong as well. Scoring came from all over notably Bradshaw, Hubert, Disken plus more. Maci Feldman was a noticeable leader on offense and was a pest on defense. The only negative for ND was early fouling in 1Q. Not much to say from the NCC side. Not a good showing at home. I expected ND to win but didn't see this level of domination.
  11. Good call, Catherine Buddenberg is a really good player. Hopefully she is back in the next couple weeks, she will be a player.
  12. Was a fast tempo game in which each team tried to find control during a first half that was a grind and foul fest. Cooper ultimately looks very strong with Liz Freihofer and Kay Freihofer in possession of the ball. Logan Palmer impacted the game in multiple areas of the game and Maleah Alexander is a defensive workhorse. Whitney Lind was able to pick up in other spots. Big entrance by 7th grader Haylee Noel. Coach Holthaus has a squad for sure! Dixie looked early season discombobulated, struggling to find control including an irritated coaching staff. Lawson and Berman had moments but it just wasn't flowing for them. A tough opener for a team trying to figure out a new identity. Anyone have the stats on this game?
  13. Not sure how that game got away but thought it was a decent start for an extremely young and newly acquainted SK team. SK has a beast in Webb (Sr) and it was good to see her back in action looking strong, solid play from Baker (Sr) and some great young talent that showed really well this early in the season in Pernell (7th), Slusher (So), and Kelch (8th). Interested to see how this comes together.
  14. This is spot on. Except the part about the parents being smart enough to realize the process.
  15. Webb is out due to knee injury. I believe it will be all or at least most of the season. They are very young and will be a couple years to get back to really competitive play. They have a good 7th & 6th grade class developing possibly, until then it could be some struggling times for SK.
  16. This is true. My son broke thru 4 tackles today in workouts due to the masks. Those pieces of porous fabric are game changers. Invincible!
  17. How you make those smiley faces? I need this in my posts. Some fish fries open tonight for one last Friday. Come get some good eats.
  18. Americans are incredibly confident, resilient, optimistic, and selfless. We should be. Our trophy collection is big and the ripple effect of our genorousity throughout the world is huge. Get out of whatever downer social network you belong to. Being a hater is no fun. I guess being the deuce is a lifetime of jealousy and natural issues with not being numero uno lol. Give it try though, look for better and you will find it. Cheers
  19. Scherr back on court but not starting 2nd. Looks like she is going to give it a shot.
