That '23 Douglass team was a good as a collection of talent there has been in the state. They had guys everywhere. I think it is fair to add them to the list of teams who did not meet expectations.

Only in the case of a transfer. If you start at a school as a freshman it us up to the school in regards to allowed enrollment.

How come no one is upset about X in these threads? They all the things that are mentioned that seem to be unfair advantages.

Curious.... Do the highly competitive band programs tend to attract students that wish to be a part of a wining program or do the kids just show through feeder programs and the program develops them into winners?

There are lots of reasons being discussed here on why the system needs to be fixed. I ask this question....... IF Trinity and CAL were not as successful as they are would this be as big of an issue? Do people get upset when Boyle County wins like they do compared to when CAL and T wins? I think the main reason CAL and T draw more kids is because the JCPS system is broken. IF more kids were spread throughout that district and bringing more parity would we be having this discussion. Lots of families sacrificing to send their kids to those places rather than a JCPS school. A lot of those kids play football but most of them do not.

I look at this way..... Trinity already plays a top level team each week for the most part. There are a couple of teams that you can consider a lesser opponent. Those are usually district games. If CAL wants to step up and schedule T then why don't they pick up a quality OOS opponent? Play Moeller, Carmel, CincySTX, then MALE or X? Why does the big addition for them or their fans need to be Trinity? There are plenty of ways to step up your schedule without just adding T. Why not show some initiative and schedule the type of opponents to show they are ready for T? Why would Trinity play those teams, and let CAL sit around and wait on the big bad wolf to show up while playing lesser opponents. Show the state you are ready to play that schedule. OR you could do like MALE has done in that period they had some success and ALWAYS take their bye week prior to Trinity week. IF you are a 3A team you probably need to earn the right to fight heavy weight champ who has been doing longer than you been around. AND for the record, Manual, a second round loser for the better part of the last two decades, ain't it.

Nothing more embarrassing than watching a hall of fame football coach act ridiculous while sitting on a basketball bench. For the love of God, get over yourself.

I do think they will be more physical. I believe he will sell the vision he has, but there is also a pretty good salesman on Shelbyville Road. Right now, the real battle for him is building his freshman class. Based on the hiring timeline, I would assume he is a little behind Trinity in that area. The next challenge will be finding the right staff and the right fit. Do you keep the same guys who have fallen short when it has mattered the past couple of years, or do you try to improve by bringing in new hires? Either way, something has to change. If you had to make a decision on Wallace staying or leaving based on the last few years, what would it be? The same question has to be asked of the current coaching staff. Can he teach his system to the current staff? Are they able to learn it, and will they fully buy in? The next step is upgrading talent. These are the main questions that need to be answered. Time will tell.

I know for a fact that the in the high schoolsthe difference in in pay is not 47%. Could you find two teachers to make those numbers look right? maybe but teacher for teacher it is not that wide of a margin.

Thanks for putting info about Kenton Co info in a thread about Louisville coaching, but whatever. Nothing in Kenton Co is relative to anything about this thread. The salaries for X and T are not that far off from JCPS. The fact that you actually get to teach instead of manage behavior and deal with the other headaches that comes with public schools probably makes up for the percentage in difference which is in the single digits.

The difference in pay for teachers in negligible in the grand scheme. There some well paid teachers in the privates. There are also some well paid administrators in the privates. I think X and T are close to $16k for tuition, are donors giving that much per kid to make up the difference? I am sure there are donors who want to give to their public schools but they don't. Not all charitable people went to private school. Would you give money to an organization who has routinely demonstrated that they cannot manage it?

As a whole JCPS was 98-135 in football. That was 21 schools who competed. 4.6 wins per team. That number includes some teams that had exceptional years. I am not sure that this makes much of an impact in the coaching carousel. I will say that the lack of support from the top is a reflection of the success. IF you sit around and wait on a program to get good before you get behind it, it is too late. I saw a stat in the recent news about the budget..... It cost almost $27k per student. When I see that number, I cannot help but wonder how a private school can educated a kid in a nicer building with nicer facilities, and in most cases higher quality education. Probably a topic for a totally different discussion. I only wonder if there is this much money available for kids why aren't the given a higher quality experience?

With looming budget cuts, JCPS is nothing to get excited about. We are losing good coaches at an alarming rate. Top head coaching pay is$8749, top assistant pay is $5249. That is probably better than most private schools pay their assistants. Private HCs are probably negotiated a little different.

Much better resume than Cobb? Didn't he have one of the best defenses in the history of the state the year before he got hired? I think he was apart of 5 state championships as DC before he took the job? How many wins did he have at lesser programs? Landis is the right hire but I am not sure his resume for THIS job would be more qualified than Cobb's resume was at the time.

I am looking forward to this announcement. What are first steps he needs to do to put his stamp on the program? Can he get the caliber of kid he was able to lure to Douglass in his first couple of years? Has talent been the main issue in the recent past or is it something else?

A new coach would have to take a hard look at the last two play off losses.

That is not a number I would know. I do know that there are key positions that would be of concern for the incoming coach that work in the building.

Some of what I have heard is that some of the current assistants are part of the deal and that has turned some coaches off from the job.

Question for the STX guys on this thread.......Would you be happy if the new coach kept the same staff around?

X lost both Freshman Games, Both JV games, and got beat handily in both Varsity games. Is this the lowest point of the program in a long time?

Any team outside of the Div 1 tournament is playing for 17th-21st place. No thanks! How does this sound, "congrats we took all the good teams and put them in one tournament so you your program has a chance to play past the 3rd round." This is almost embarrassing to call your self a state champion if you dodge all the good teams that is supposed to be in you class.

not for less games. Each team that makes the playoffs will get to play on and each team that does not will get to schedule a post season game they can actually win. Those teams will most likely not play more than one game in the playoffs any way. It would actually work out to the same amount of games and be more competitive for all parties involved.

Hoe many of those team's wins are against the teams in their classification? Anybody can schedule wins. If they give out a trophy for a district championship it should mean something.

If you drop out of the playoffs then you should not be able to compete in them the following year. The easiest fix is to allow top two from each district in. That would alleviate the strain on officials and eliminate some of the major blowouts from happening. Seed the tournament by RPI 1 through 16 or 1-8 based on region and finish it on Thanksgiving weekend. If you want to keep the dates the same, do away with week zero and have an idle week before the tournament starts. This would allow every team a week to get healthy. Allow the teams that do not make it to play in one post season "scrimmage." It would be at the coach's discretion on the format. That would create a great opportunity for the young guys to get some minutes and give your seniors if they desire one last time to compete in a more competitive setting. Maybe even a Jamboree. It could turn into a nice recruiting deal for some kids at the smaller schools. I am sure that there would be a lot smaller colleges interested in coming out to see that. The kids who really being done the disservice are the one's that are getting cheated a game because their opponent is dropping out of the playoffs. Not the kid or team who is avoiding a running clock.

I'm not sure that there is enough weight put on head to head wins. Give a multiplier to district champs? I am just spit balling here to figure out a way to better reflect the competition amongst the top 5 or 6 teams in each class. X will win the district but have to go to Manual in the playoffs. That does not sit well with the purist in me. RPI would still play factor and the multiplier may not make a difference but it may offset some of the penalty of having play less than par teams in your district.
