  1. I think both teams are better than people thought they'd be coming in to this season. I think this will be a hard fought game. Beechwood is very well coached and very tough - they are a top-notch program. That said, CCH's size and depth should wear Beechwood down, and I look for CCH to strike for some big plays in the 2nd half to pull out the win.
  2. Elder isn't very good this year - I personally feel the whole GCL is down from years past. Scott County might not get that chance again for a while.
  3. Would you PLEASE stop talking about the game? This thread is about open enrollment in Kenton County. Discuss... BTW - Conner gets Ryle at home. A little rain, a little of Conner grass(/dirt/mud) field, who knows? Conner has some speed. Webster looked great running the ball. I would get him more touches.
  4. Unlike last year, when they had exceptional senior leadership, Beechwood is a young team with room to grow (or go sideways). I've always felt they are the best coached team in NKy, and they have started fast. If they continue to grow with experience, watch out.
  5. NC State is a big-time offer - they had to see something ACC-worthy.
  6. SK is a better team than Conner. They didn't show last night to be as good as I thought they were. Conner's top-end talent is right there with SK. So much of football is line play - you want to see a bad offense, find a bad o-line. You want to find a great defense - find a great d-line. SK has a little more talent and a lot more depth across both lines than Conner - it was a huge difference as the game went on. Conner had a kid playing d-line and running back, for goodness sake. I didn't see #54, #63, or #75 for SK toting the rock.
  7. My observations: - I overestimated SK's speed. They have a couple guys who can get downfield, but they aren't as fast as I thought - I underestimated Conner's toughness. Their d-line and linebackers brought it tonight - Racke and the SK backs will be sore tomorrow - Conner is faster than last year. It will be interesting to see if they can play at this level in games against Cooper and Ryle, or whether they fall back - Racke, Kincaid, Simpson, Cain - standouts. Flat out great football players - Conner's play calling in the first half was excellent - their QB is a better distributor than last year's - and they were able to open some lanes in the running game - Beulow (sp?) threw some great passes at key times in the second half - that were dropped. Conner had no margin for error in this game and those failure to convert hurt them - SK's d-line dominated in the second half. They forced repeated 3 and outs - if Conner's D hadn't been so stout the game could have gotten away - This was not SK's best performance - but they found the will and made the plays to win. It might serve as the wake-up call to propel them to a new level - Last thought - really feel that SK's coaches made better adjustments starting in the second quarter and carrying into the second half. Defensively they did a much better job winning at the point of attack, and taking away Conner's opportunities downfield, and offensively going tempo and vertical with the back-up QB helped them regain the momentum. The dialed up a screen pass in the 4th quarter that was timed and executed to perfection. It remains to be seen whether they truly have the talent to play for a big school championship - I do believe they have excellent coaching. A great high school football game - and a beautiful night to watch football!
  8. Great game - SK D was difference in the second half. Conner really showed up - they have some players - can they sustain this intensity through the season?
  9. SK driving - first and goal - TD 39-27
  10. Conner insists on throwing at Kincaid - a losing strategy
  11. Conner fails on 3rd and 4th down- SK takes over
  12. Big 3rd down for Conner - 4:49 left and ball at Conner 47. Ball game?
  13. Dead ball personal foul on SK after 3rd down stop extends Conner drive
  14. The Kincaid/Simpson match-up is epic - both great players and competitors
  15. SK drives to Conner 4 - aided by very questionable PI call - then fumbles. Conner takes over
  16. Simpson is a threat to score every time he touches the ball - SK mistake kicking to him
  17. Simpson to the house on KO return - 2 pt try fails 32-27
  18. Racke has taken a lot of hits and keeps leading and making plays - heart and talent
  19. Racke making huge plays - TD SK 32-21
  20. 25-21 after 3 - SK 1st down at Conner 27
  21. Big play - Conner goes on 4th and 6 at midfield after running into kicker penalty - well thrown ball dropped and SK takes over on downs
  22. Conner d-line has been very stingy - SK not getting consistent push or creating lanes to run
