Within the next 24 hrs Boone will have their next head coach I’m told an offer has been made

From what I've been told Boone hosted second round interviews with several candidates yesterday and possibly 1 more to come this afternoon. This source is very reliable and told he wouldn't be shocked if something was announced as early as the beginning of Next week.

It would seem from the outside looking in that someone or somebody's over valued their programs worth ! can't see how this hire makes them better today than a few days ago under Wiggins.

No longer a top 5 team in A? You clearly are still not paying attention. Final four 2 out of the last 4 years. Lost to campbellsville by 5 who I believe who lost to pikeville by 7. One year they were tied with paintsville in the 4th quarter who went on to state. They have clearly been a top 5 team the last few years. Sorry to hijack the thread. But a guy with new cath in his logo is not paying attention.

If in fact Coach Court did apply at Scott, Than without a doubt that would be a slam dunk hire. Early 30’s passionate energetic with a high Football IQ and had previously been DC at Scott so he knows the kids and the community already. Not to mention the previous history he’s had as an assistant coach and player. I believe 2 titles as a player at Highlands and was a part of a staff that had some recent success at Newcath under coach Lickert.

Newcath is 100% a program that expects to play for championships every year. One would consider that playing in 2 state semifinals in the past 3 season as competing to win championships. Clearly Newcath felt the need to move on from the previous coaching staff for one reason or another. The two years prior to his arrival, Newcath went 7-6 and 6-6. Before he was named HC at Newcath they hadn't won a title game since the 2012-2013 season, I believe that was Caldwell County. In the past 5 years they've been to 4 regional finals, and 2 state semifinals, where they lost to eventual state champs Paintsville and Pikeville. If I'm not mistaken both those state games ended in double digit blow outs. And for what its worth, the Pikeville team from last year may have beaten several other teams playing for titles that day. But this is about St. Henry, and their opportunity to build a great program. Not about coaches that are being unrealistically named potential candidates for the job.

I was really confused by this entire coaching situation all season. After coach Owens left, I was told several coaches already on staff voiced their interest in the Head Coaching job. Yet, they went outside and hired a friend of the AD who had not had any contact with the players or coaches before the day he was brought in to take over. And from what I understand, it was made clear this was just a one year thing for Hensley from the start. So the question has to be asked, why would anyone want to walk into that kind of environment, unless they are already invest in those kids and community. The school and Athletic Department would seem to have really put these athletes behind the 8 ball already by the choices made in the hiring process this past summer. So IMO, I would think it'd be in the best interest to see if they can't retain one of those coaches previously interested in the HC position.

Dan Court would be a great starting point, if I were looking for a young motivated and enthusiastic coach to start my program. Last I heard Logan Neff was the strength coach up at Indian hill, and seemed to be enjoying that job and their successes. So that might be a tough sale to make. Not sure about the other two fellas but I have always admired the energy Coach Court brings to the sidelines, even this past season with Scott's Struggles.

Unless Kenny Collopy, up on the hill, decided he wanted the football program to go in a different direction than it currently has been going, I would find it extremely hard to believe that Coach Lickert would leave what he has built at Newcath on his own accord. This season has definitely not been without its challenges, but here we are again, looking at a newcath team primed to prove they can make another deep run in the playoffs.

You are correct. When it comes to district play I agree. I mistakenly was thinking of his season in general last year.

That's a lot of information that the casual follower wouldn't have known. Great insight!

100% a fair assessment, but there is no guarantee that even a coach with head coach experience would be better off in this situation over a younger coach with long term ambitions. But also understand why that would be the thought process, I just like the idea of seeing young energetic coaches coming in and building something special at a small school team in class A, I enjoy rooting for those teams and coaches.

How many football games have they played on that field? A year old turf field that's never had a football game played on it would still be pretty brand new to those coaches that don't have that luxury right now. I have NO knowledge of the stadium or weight room & locker rooms but I'd guess those things would see some sort of improvement over the next two years. After all, SHDHS will be the only private school in Boone County with football and that would lead one to think they might be making improvements sooner rather than later.

St. Henry has already blessed whomever gets this job with a brand new facility. One would hope that with the birth of a young program those in charge would go after a young hungry coaching staff with something to prove! Starting with a middle school and JV season in 2024, it gives a staff a buffer to get things up and running. Nothing wrong with hiring an experienced head coach who's been in that role before of course, however there are so many experienced young coaches in NKY already that you just hope one of those guys gets the opportunity to build something similar to a Bishop Brossart. Off the top my head I can think a few young coordinators with plenty of successful experiences in coaching.

Not sure of the results. But I believe they dress close to 20 freshman. And they have played some froshmore and freshman games.

New Cath is a freshman only game. They have played several freshman games this year.
