  1. The academic enhancement program that helps struggling students is THE BEST program in the greater Cincinnati area. Do your research.
  2. That is correct. But Holy Cross has many kids that come from these schools. Just because you "feed" to a school, doesn't make it the best fit for every kid. Covington Catholic and NDA are fantastic schools! However, they are not a fit for every student and families at St. Pius and BSS have chosen HC.
  3. Derrick Barnes - Holy Cross 125 tackles last year as LB, big contributor on defense in basketball, big contributor for track & field
  4. The Alliance for Catholic Urban Education (ACUE) provides an opportunity to financially assist parents so they can choose a Catholic education for their child. Many families benefit from this great program, some of those kids just happen to play basketball. The majority of families that benefit, do not play basketball. Is that what you are referring to? If yes, I have no problem with families applying for assistance so they can choose a great school like Holy Cross.
  5. If you have concerns. Take it through the appropriate channels. There is an avenue to do that.
  6. I didn't say anything about jealousy. I simply was reminding everyone that there are transfers happening all over the school, not just girls basketball. It is not unusual to see transfers at Holy Cross. My kids transfered to HC at the middle school level. One, in the middle of the year. It may appear on the surface to the girls basketball community that these transfers have to do with playing basketball. All I'm saying is that basketball may be one factor out of many. Please, stop with accusations. Again, if you have concerns, take it through the appropriate channels.

  8. It is disturbing to read accusations about Holy Cross and ethics. Holy Cross High School is amazing. We have students from Kenton County, Campbell County, Boone County, Grant County and Hamilton County. I understand this thread is about the girls basketball team but kids transfer in all of the time for different reasons. Many of those kids are NOT on the basketball team. Do you know about all of the transfers on the tennis team, track team, football team, cheerleading team or those involved in the school play? Nope, because they didn't just recently win a state championship. To hear that someone comes from a school nearby like Holmes, St. Pius, Blessed Sacrament or St. Agnes (right up the street from NDA) is not uncommon. Parents and students choose Holy Cross for a variety of reasons. You do not know what that student athlete is going through to prompt a parent to choose a transfer. Holy Cross offers an amazing academic support for struggling students. That program is superior to anything offered in the greater Cincinnati area. It could be that a kid was bullied, has friends from church, etc. (even friends from an AAU team) Or... maybe the parent feels that a small school gives their student athlete an opportunity to compete... so what?? We are lucky in Northern Kentucky that we have options for kids. Last year, a Senior transfered to HC April. Graduation was in May. No one talked about this kid, because he wasn't involved with the girls basketball program. Those involved with our school know how great of an environment it is for kids. Stop trashing the school and coaches. If you are that concerned, contact the KHSAA and log a formal complaint. I'm sure any investigation will conclude no wrong doing.
  9. How 'bout those Indians? I can't wait to see what the season holds.
  10. Owen Finke with Covington Holy Cross. Varsity football middle linebacker and big contributor for the defense. Top 15 in the state for Diving Freshman year, 13th Sophmore year. Center fielder in baseball with a great swing.

  12. Yep. I saw that. What do you want me to say? I guess the website needs to get updated.
  13. I usually work the fish fry as well... come through the line and ask who's giving away hush puppies... I might even give you TWO!
  14. This is my first post on BGP. I stumbled on this forum while searching the web for something else and created an account specifically to respond. Holy Cross ticket prices are $6 adult and $4 Senior Citizen/Student. HC students get in free. The prices went up by $1 this year. Everyone was charged the same amount on Friday regardless of what team you support. I know this because I worked the gate. Some of the confusion may come from the Holmes sign outside the gate that lists the $5 price. In hindsight, after reading these posts, we should have made a poster to cover that. This is only the 2nd home game we've had this year. The first home game was against Taft and we didn't have any questions. All adults were $6. We did ask some people who were buying student tickets if they were HC students. We did this because last week we had quite a few HC freshman buy tickets not realizing they get in free. It was a mess when they came back to get a refund. The ticket stubs much match the gate money at the end of the night to confirm what I'm saying. I also want to respond to the claim that people wouldn't allow Scott fans to sit where they want. Holmes is gracious to allow us to utilize their facilities. We choose the far right of the stands for our home fan section. Holmes uses the closest section to the door. We choose the far right because we can stay in the same place when we play Holmes. Sometimes the opposing team fans will come over the far right to sit because that is where they sit when they play Holmes. We do usually direct the fans to their section. People can sit wherever they want but most people choose to sit with their fans. I witnessed this encounter as well and no one was rude. It was simply "Hey did you know". I'm confused on the hostility of the fans on this post. Scott and Holy Cross usually have a great relationship. Many of the students live in the same neighborhood, have played youth sports on the same team, some have been classmates and others are relatives. The boys on the field were very friendly with one another and you could see that from the stands. It was an AMAZING and fun game to watch. I personally feel that they gave me $6 worth.
