Central vs Belfry tops the list, with the added intrigue of Belfry traveling to Louisville. DeSales & CAL a close 2nd. Three of the past four state championships in 2-A.

Central is one of the best atmospheres I've been around to watch a high school football game, but parking is a bit of a nightmare. Safe travels to the Belfry faithful.

The Bears made a nice run...MADE, as in past tense. A great season for a really good football team comes to an end for Butler Friday.

I watched the first game. The two players who missed the first game will have to bring A LOT to the table AND help overcome losing the starting QB. Many of you know these teams better than me, but I'll take the Ads by 2-3 scores.

Three stats to throw out there. 1. DeSales STILL has not given up 100 total points this season through 12 games. 2. The Colts have won their last seven games by a combined score of 305-9. 3. The first two rounds of the playoffs have been a combined score of 102-0. I mention that only because the Colts' starting QB missed both of those games. He will be back Friday. Barring a lopsided turnover margin, I think the Colts win Friday. Desales is firing on all cylinders. If someone beats them, hats off to those guys.

Glasgow benefited from it. They got NCC in the second round instead of either CAL or DeSales. Walton Verona got the short end and had to play CAL last night. From this point forward in the bracket, it won't change anything.

Rookie - having seen Butler in person twice, I kept thinking to myself that beating them was a HUGE win. Butler just doesn't have the name recognition to turn people's heads as a quality win. But with back-to-back victories over Ryle and Male, I think people definitely see it now. And, to be quite honest, DeSales is a MUCH better football team now than they were at that point in the season.

Valiant effort from the Panthers. I'm sure that locker room is a tough place to be tonight.

CAL, the seeming "also ran" in 2A, even though they are the defending state champions, beat Etown by two TDs earlier this year.

WOW!!! Mark Brown continues to get it done year after year.

I have seen Butler a couple of times this year. They definitely pass the eyeball test. If I'm not mistaken, their QB is just a sophomore. He has improved steadily as the season has progressed. First win over Male in 26 years for the Bears. Party in the South End!!!
