I would ordinarily say that also PP, but right now I don't know where these guys mind set is. If Wayne Co. plays like they did at Southwestern, I have no doubt they can win the region. If they do not than it will be one and done.

Hard to understand how good this team is and can be when they want to play as a team. what we as fans witnessed last night and again today by these same young men, its baffling. Never have I seen worst body action from Wayne Co Teams. I Love wc basketball and when we see this kind of display, it hurts. Guys you have one week to get whatever it is bothering you straitened out. I think you have a chance to go as far as you want and hope you do want it.

Yeah, we played them without Stearns the next afternoon after the 110 - 106 game with Southwestern. No way they should beat Mercer Wayne or Southwestern. Believe if they get out of the 11th, either of these 3 teams that should win the 12th would win the next contest with Lafayette.

Southwestern is almost impossible to guard when they shoot the ball the way they have in our 2 games this year. You cant help off on guarding because they can make shots all over the floor. Most times tonight we had pretty good defense on Gover and he still made 95%.

This comment by ryme32 reminds me of the posts that started last year about Coach Woods cussing the refs and opposing Coach of Taylor Co in the King of The Bluegrass. It is bogus of Coach yelling at officials. He may call them by name when they are close to the bench or stare them down across the floor, but you will not hear him yelling at them. Sometimes we as fans wish he would get vocal with them, but that is not Coach Woods.

Just a lot of Heart and shot the ball much much better than last night. Hopkinsville is a very talented and quick team.

The reason I said anything about the stiff arm was you mentioned him only getting to the foul line three times and scored 23 of hi 25 points that way. I am not blaming the refs for the loss, but I get sick and tired how Wayne gets the calls at home. If Coach Woods ranted and raved like most coaches in this region the whole game, then maybe we could win a few games. YOU RECKON

Cause if they called a foul, it would have to be on him for using that off arm getting to the rim. Mercer Co deserved the win, they were the better team tonight. I am saying if Mercer is our representative, which is very probable to get to state, they will not get away with that. If I am not mistaken every 12th region official lives north of Somerset and that's not a plus for us.

we will certainly have to shoot better to win against really good teams. When you go 3 for 26 from three point range, you are not going to win many. We played some really good teams in the Smokey Mtn Classic and have not shot the ball well since then. You will not see Blevins miss like that too many times. What looks like a bad shot for him, he usually makes those. We got very tired the last quarter, and Hager wore us out driving the ball, but if we get our shooting back, and different region referees that will call that off arm pushing, may be a tighter game in tournament.

Bounce, I guess you got to see Wayne Co the one time play at Casey Co last Tuesday night. With Stearns trying to get back in form from missing several games, there is reason to think Mercer being that much better, but I don't think there is a way in the world they come to our place and win 19 to 20 points. I may be wrong but I will have to see it first.

I have not seen Mercer play so far this year. but looking forward to seeing them when they come to Wayne Co. I know from watching Southwestern that anyone will have a tough time guarding those kids, cause everyone of them can take you off the dribble, and if you try to help out on defense, every one of them can also find the open man.

So glad to see Stearns back. His movement is good to had not played in few weeks and shooting will come with playing time.

Wayne beat three excellent teams with combined records of 25 & 4 to win their second Smokey Mountain Classic in three years. Our football guys are starting to get their basketball skills, plus another junior that had no varsity experience, so when Stearns does come back, we will compete for this region again.

He is a Southwestern fan. He mentioned in at least a couple posts about Wayne co. having 19 coaches. I believe I seen a few on SW bench. The only difference Coach Woods does the coaching, not the assistants.

You better believe kapcat I'm a booster for Woods. I never said before that anyone was close to guarding the shooter, I stated one player lost his train of thought on the play. They were instructed to either steal the pass or foul on pass and it did not happen. I don't think at this time of the season though, you might give Southwester pass to RuppArena.

This was not a coaching error. Those kids were instructed in timeout to go for the steal on the pass, if they failed to get the pass, to run into to get the foul. of them lost their train of thought. Don't go blaming coaches when you don't know what you are talking about. I agree it was terrible defense, but a kids mistake. Let me go on to say this, Southwestern is a terrific team with so many weapons that can score. Its very tuff to guard them, cause they can create and score. In my opinion, they are better by far than last year.

What does that mean PP?

Wayne was a little rusty, since it was their opening game. Whitley Co. had already played a game and seemed a little more ready out of the gate. After a low scoring first quarter wayne, the team began to find the basket and played with more intensity on offense and defense. The duo of Blevins & Stearns led the scoring with 26 & 21.

Does not surprise me the Courier Journal left Wayne Co out of top 25. I think the Journal has not figured out in all these years, we are in Kentucky and not Tennessee. I don't know how we stack up against a lot of these teams, but know we just beat the 25th team on their court last week by 18.
