Did you see what happen to Taft last year? They had 85 at half and he still played the starters. With that said did you expect something different? I wouldn't have because that's his MO. I however, do agree with you on getting the younger/JV players in some minutes, especially because the opportunity may not present itself to often.

When this thread started I thought it was about the top returning kids coming back. How did it turn in a bash HC? IJS, this year hopefully we can keep the comments pertaining to the subject at hand. With that said.....I am looking forward to good b-ball this fall. As there are some talented girls out there and it will be very competitive.

To put things in proper perspective, 3 in state was only at the end of the season or maybe at the beginning of this tournament but E-Town was a top of the list the entire year.

Congratulations Lady Indians! I think there may be some people eating their words about now. See folks that is why we play the game because anything can happen on any given day. It happens every year in the NCAA and it happen today. So all of you who counted our 9th region girls out because of EB (who is one heck of a player) and the other D1 signees on the E-Town team, I say so sad and I'm sorry but tell me how those words taste.

One can agree that McClendon could be interchangeable but didn't get the node. There probably could be argument for others as well. I think the ones that got it were deserving as well. However, IMO I am glad to see that some blue collar workers were recognized like Hassert and C. Mayhaus. Not higher scores but got the grunt work taken care in good fashion.

No I'm not saying they didn't miss open shots but hc did also. Heck during the course of any game teams miss a number of open shots it's part of the game. As for turnovers force or unforced it's still a missed opportunity. hhc had their share of unforced turnovers as well. I think you would agree the first quarter was riddled with turnover after turnover by both teams. Very sloppy start to the game. To be out right Ms. Leigh was a bright spot as she found a way to score on several occasions around the rim. No one else seem to find any rythm as they rushed shots because the defense was closing out. I don't think we are disagreeing but seen the game through different set of lenses. Now HHS had a great season and I look forward to them making a loud noise next year!

Let's not forgot all of the unforced turnovers by HC. I think the turnovers were just about even so let's not use turnovers as a reason. I see where you say HC defense if legit and really that's where the credit goes to for this game. 1. They rebounded well and defended the perimeter good especially limiting Adler (who is laser with her shot and definitely can fill the basket with the best of them) to VERY few open looks. That was key. Again defense won this game for HC not HHS shooting because the off night shooting was no fluke, it was defense. I go on to say HC didn't look any better on offense missed point blanks, over shooting the basketball and that too was a tribute to the defense that HHS was playing. This was no doubt a game where the offenses struggled and defense prevailed.

I think you meant McClendon. Engelmon was on the "All Tourney" team and well deserved. Saying that, I too was surprised that D. McClendon wasn't selected to the "All Tourney" team.

Quite interesting. If he earned his 1000th in December of Jr. year, which I venture to say that from Dec to Feb he scored another 250, which means he had to score about 750 this year which is possible but since he had several down games, then the suspension and has shared the ball much more this year. Either way a REMARKABLE feat. Hope he has a chance to make it.

I am not sure who, but someone in the thread made a good point about what a person means to their team and about them winning without their best player. Just a comment and observation from watching a lot of girls' ball this year. D. McClendon may not be considered the best player on the team as those honors are bestowed (and rightfully so) to D. Turner, but if HC doesn't have McClendon, they are not as successful of a team this year. It was evident in several games that when she leaves the court, generalship drops for them. I like all of the players because they play hard and leave it all on the court, but she is the catalyst that calms them amongst the storm. Ask the teammates.

I agree with what you have said. You won't have any more than two. It's like the bell curve.

These are the top 3 teams in the 9th and 1 of them will make it out no doubt. However my dime on HC. You say why? Well they have definitely played a much tougher schedule. They have been battled tested in close games. Now they are just about healthy coming onto the season close. if I am wrong it will be HHS or Holmes.

HC playing bad all around? 19-2 run doesn't sound all bad. ijs

Panther15 Turner had a great stretch in the 3rd and had a solid 2nd half. Just o e correction it was McClendon and Tucker sinking the free throws down the stretch.

You say hhs played a quarter or two without your 2 best rebounders but you failed to mention Holmes played 4 quartera without their leading score who also rebounds pretty well and have a penchant for getting to lose balls.

I will just say Congratulations to the lady Indians on a good week. They played and beat NCC, St.Henry, Holmes and Highlands. These are the considered the top teams I. The area. I say it's the good ball this year.

I see what you are saying about Holy Cross weaknesses but what was Highlands weaknesses that cost them the game?

This game is going to be close. I say single digit win for either team. I pick HC because Holmes has a tendency to have a let down (I would say primarily because of the margin of victory they have been able to sustain). If that happens Holmes may not respond like the team they are in a close contest. I like both teams and wish all safety during this much aligned and awaited contest.

I beg to differ because a cancel is a cancel.call bad scheduling or what you will but I prefer to protect kids than to exploit for the sake of money. To that was not a legitimate excuse to cancel. Also the hc and hhs game was rescheduled as well so there is no difference.
