  1. I remember when he used to referee our games down Covington Turners on Saturday mornings when there was still a White Castle next to Turners. He would stop the games to teach the kids what they were doing wrong and then continue on. Great coach.
  2. This is what i was looking for and after seeing the difference in money they make now I see why they have it there. For the schools and the KHSAA it's a good thing. Just not for me. Sorry to get everyone all riled up. now back to our regularly scheduled programming.
  3. This is where I would love to see the actual numbers that attend these games over the tournament. Were the schools turning away people back in the day when it was at the HS gyms and missing out on money? I don't know how the money works but I bet the schools probably don't get any money from parking or concessions at BB&T. I'm sure someone in the know could comment on that. With that said if they charged the same $8 dollars a ticket to get in and they never went over 3000 and not turn people away would they not make the same amount of money if not more if they split the concessions? Just asking because all the times I went maybe except for the final game there didn't seem like 3000 people in the stands but then again I didn't count them all.
  4. The problem with these forums and the main reason I don't post that often is because the threads get out of control. When I posted the money thing i never once said it's everyone's opinion or did i say the athletes didn't like it. I was just following up on someone asking if it should be held back at the high school gyms. I added the price as factor for me. I know the arena is there to make money and I know people work there just like all the volunteers at the high schools but I think if you keep it at a bigger arena the attendance will drop especially for the girls game. No i don't have facts to back that up but just my thought. I will still go to my teams games no matter what. I may not go to others. I'm not from Ft. Thomas so if someone could draw me a map of all the free parking I will know for the next time.. From my personal experience no game at BB&T will ever get anywhere near the 9th final in 1989 Scott Vs Holy Cross down at Holmes. The atmosphere and noise was ridiculous. AS A FAN not a player you will never get BB&T like that in my opinion.
  5. As long as he treats the girls with respect and doesn't push the club attitude I will be fine. I don't' prejudge. :whistling:
  6. Any details on him? Where did he coach before?
  7. Looks like the BGP click has rallied the troops to stamp out other options.:jump: Just curious does anyone know of the last few years that it was held at the HS gyms were they sold out? Were people just to lazy to stand in line to get a ticket or whine because it was hot or you had to sit to close to someone? Are those kind of stats on the KHSAA site?
  8. What an intelligent response. WOW!!!
  9. Call me cheap but I took my son to the first round of the girls Monday and cost me $21 just to get in the door which includes parking. $8 for a 10 year old is ridiculous. 1 large drink and regular popcorn another $9.We won't be going to anymore unless it's our schools team. Those prices will keep me away from other games in the tournament. I'm all for bringing it back to the high school gym where it belongs in my IMO.
  10. I didn't mean to come across like i was judging these particular parents or kids but in general. See i think part of the problem today is kids are treated like babies most of their younger lives and parents are afraid of hurting their feelings as they get older so they don't put their foot down when needed. I was taught different from my parents and I turned out fine so I will do the same to my kids and teach them to respect everyone. Sorry got off the original topic of thread. I'm off my box now.
  11. I agree to a point about the 2 on the court that can stop it but the issue should be corrected at home before it even gets to a coach or official. I have found that if you have a kid acting that way the parents aren't doing a lot to correct it. Maybe those kids that are acting like that belong to the parents in the crowd doing the same thing. it's about teaching a kid the right way to compete and it starts at home plan and simple. To many parents today depend on and expect other people to teach their kids how to behave. I guess it's this generation of parents and kids. if did that stuff when i played my father would take care of it and set me straight or i wouldn't be playing no matter how good i was.
  12. I have no dog in this fight either way but I think there is a problem with the parents if they send a kid to a school because they want to play a particular sport. For those that say HC or any other private school is better when it comes to academics then they need to do some research on that information. This recruiting or whatever you want to call it is what's wrong with kids sports today and it's caused by the parents and honestly the when at all cost attitude needs to change because it's not healthy for kids. This is high school not college.
  13. Not correct BS and St P are feeder schools for NDA and IHM is St Henry. They are not feeder schools for HC.
  14. I have a little one ready to start school. I haven't decided yet if i will hold him back now just in case he wants to play basketball. :ylsuper:
  15. I trust the goalie who is on the field and can see what she needs. From where the kick was there was no doubt she was going for the goal and not putting in the box for a set play. In my option dropping the extra player from the wall did nothing but give the kicker a better view and more goal to shoot at. Just my opinion.
  16. If she was allowed to have the third person that goal would have been a little more difficult. Can't believe the coach over ruled here decision on having 3.
  17. I agree about more of a crowd. I agree it's all about the kids but because of the coming back the next day and starting at 5:00 I won't be able to watch the end of my seniors last district game. Never had this issue the last 3 years. Well done KHSAA.
  18. I myself don't blame Villa for the issues with this tournament. I blame the AD's who allowed it. I have nothing against the school or it's teams. Like an early post said if your facilities aren't capable of handling it just accept it or make changes so it can. I know what KHSAA says but just because it says you don't need lights doesn't make it right for the girls. We do care about the teams and that's why we are discussing it. To say we don't think the teams are playing great and we don't care is wrong.
  19. A district tournament shouldn't have to end this way. Props to both goalies for stopping PK's in the dark. it's a shame you work all year and play games at a field with no lights. Next time they are up to host the other 3 schools should pay Villa the cut they would get from the door and hold it at other another school.
  20. Didn't mean to offend but just speaking the truth. By the way my girls go to a private school so all those taxpayer facilities you talk about aren't at our school. I along with the other parents have to pay for everything we get. I sure there is plenty of money to go around at Villa if they wanted to support the soccer program. I don't know from personal experience but just from what I've heard.
  21. This is why they should never host the districts. I would think Villa would have the advantage today. They can get there right after school and start practicing PK's if they want and the goalie will have plenty of time to see some PK's. Bad decision to let them host.
  22. I agree. Our program don't have this issue. I guess my post was for those coaches who need to contact someone to get kids to run the balls down. I know head coaches have a lot on their plate but do at the beginning of the season.
  23. I'm a really bad just of distance because when we played there earlier this year it didn't look like 100 yards. Maybe someone from Villa or in the know can comment on the size.
  24. I'm guessing field size isn't one of them.:jump:
  25. How are the brackets determined? I know a winner plays a runner up but what determines the districts who play each other?
