Without a doubt! I personally am not a big Dudley fan. 9-13 in his first two years isn't looking promising. At the banquet after the season he told me that these past two years (2014-15) were supposed to be the "up" years. That doesn't bode well for next year. My beef was that the mountain guys were bashing Taylor for no other reason than their dislike for Dudley. I hated it for the kids out there working their tail off only to be disparaged because a coach they had no say in his hiring isn't well liked. Well enough about Duds, it's state tourney time!

Not hurt, but he has been sick for about a month. That is why he didn't play in the second half of the North Hardin game, he got really sick during halftime, it wasn't pretty. Talked to his dad last night at the Bardstown game and he had been to the dr. and hopefully is on the road back to 100%.

Yes there was an issue between some of the coaches after the game. It was broken up before it got too serious.

I definitely agree with Jim, Bardstown should be credited with playing a good game. I believe it was during that run in the third that Q got in a rhythm from behind the arc. That was really the difference in the game. Although Taylor won, definitely a hats off to the Tigers. They played hard and made a game of it.

Last week, Taylor played Nelson at home. They were up by like 30 in the second half and still had the starting five in. After the game, I asked one of the players why? He said Gatewood wanted to send a message to Nelson that this was only beatdown round one with round two coming in the region since there was a good chance that Nelson would be the two seed out of their district. Based on that, it appears Gatewood anticipated winning the district. I am guessing that for Gatewood, it doesn't really matter if they play North Hardin in the semis or the finals. Either way North gets a rematch with Taylor. Given that you have to win the region to make it to Rupp, semis or finals doesn't really matter, they would play each other either way. The team that should be the happiest with the draw is Central since North, Taylor, and Caverna all ended up on the other side of the bracket.

Taylor was up by 1. One of Bryan's players drove into the lane and collided with Gaines. Gaines ended up with a busted nose. The officials called a charge against Bryan, but it was a delayed call. Bryan coach stormed the court and was given a technical. The bench followed him onto the floor and was also assessed a technical. Goodin hit all 4 free throws on both technicals. TC played like they wanted to lose but managed to pull it out. It appears the game plan was to drive to the basket and draw contact. Earlier in the game, the whistles weren't blowing against Bryan. TC would drive and throw up a wild shot that wouldn't go in and no whistle. Bryan got the rebound and was shooting well most of the game. Lack of rebounding was definitely hurting TC. At one point, TC had 4 guards in the game, no one in the paint, and Gatewood was screaming about no one rebounding. At this point in the season, TC is either on its game or it is playing horribly. Not a whole lot in between. On paper they should win the fifth, but it wouldn't be surprising if they find a way to lose one at the worst possible time. If they would play together they are pretty good. When they play the way they did Friday night, they are VERY beatable.

Good win for the knights. The region appears to be wide open, as is the district. The district will clear up in a couple of weeks. Three of Taylor's next five games are two with Marion and a home game with Adair. Once the dust settles in the district, the region tournament could get interesting!

They did. Goodin was his primary defender most of the night. Kid was shooting three's from almost halfcourt like it was nobody's business. I was very impressed, he is a great player. As mentioned on another post, fouling down by 30 was starting to get out of hand. Most in the crowd were getting extremely frustrated, just wanting the game to be officially over. Fortunately the caverna coach was given a technical with about 2 minutes left. That calmed him down and the fouling decreased.

In an early game on Thursday, Taylor County travels to Nicholasville to take on East Jessamine. The Jaguars enter at 4-3 coming off a tough loss to Mercer County. The Cardinals enter the contest at 3-3 coming off an open date. Does the extra week for Taylor help in this game? On paper at least, for East Jessamine, this game is for a first round playoff home game. For Taylor, they are still in the hunt for the district title. Who wins and why?

I was kind of surprised but then again I wasn't. Green is a talented squad. I do believe that TC is finally pulling it together. The games against Adair and Cville were close through three and half quarters before the opponent pulled away at the end. They just flat out layer an egg against Barren. Against Green they played as a team. It will be interesting to see how the district games go.

Indeed it did GloryDays and thank you for the clarification. Working with those definitions we were not talking about the same things. This is, after all, a game. Regardless if a team loses by 1 or 100 the sun will rise tomorrow. The one point that I am still unable to reconcile is respect. I agree good sportsmanship involves respect for self, opponent, officials, and the fans. The issue specifically addressed in this thread is running up the score. When a game is clearly over and an opponent adds an unnecessary touchdown, some view that as classless. The game was over and cville was the better team that night. That being said why did you need to throw a pass into the end zone on 4th and goal from the 13 with 16 seconds left when already up by two touchdowns? The game was competitive until about halfway through the 4th quarter. Until that point in the game generally the team that had the ball scored. So according to your definitions, the players did feel disappointment and hurt. Not in the sense that they lost a game they should have won, rather in the sense that they played as good a game as they did. They were given no chance of it even being a competitive game. So they played as hard as they could and for three and a half quarters gave a valiant effort. There is nothing to be ashamed of there. There is a larger issue however. Some have taken my posts as sour grapes. That could not be further from the truth. I have no issue that cville won the game and that they deserved to win. They are a great team having a spectacular season. I used the term humiliation as hyperbole in the earlier post. To make sure we are all on the same page hyperbole is being used as a noun meaning obvious and intentional exaggeration. If one were to take the outcome of a game as you defined humiliation there is a significant issue somewhere. As I said earlier, it is only a game. Some of these boys will go on to play in college. Most will end their football careers at the end of high school. We as parents and coaches should use the game of football to instill values and life lessons in our boys. It sounds like that was the case for you in your post. The problem is that we are drifting away from that idea. We are creating a sense of entitlement, that everyone deserves all their wishes and desires and that they should not value and respect others. One glaring and unfortunate example of this is what happened this past Friday night in Texas. When we have two players intentionally target an official and blindside him we have significant issues. Tying all this back to Dudley. I am not sure how familiar you are with Dudley. In central Ky we didn't really know much about him when was hired as head coach. All we were told was he is a winner. That is true as he currently ranks second in the state in the number of career victories. He has also won multiple state titles. What I am learning from our friends in eastern Ky is that there seems to be a great deal of hatred for the man. Part of it is his success. The other part is the claims that he has done dubious things along the way that allowed that success to happen. I do not know the specifics of his past. All I do know is that, like it or not, he is my son's coach now. My hyperbolic point earlier was that some people take their hatred for Dudley out on the team that he coaches. Part of sportsmanship is respecting your opponent. I don't want others to let their dislike for Dudley cloud that fact. This isn't about Dudley. It is about these 43 young men that practice hard all week and play as hard as they can on Friday night.

Interesting perspective. How would you define the difference between disappointment and/or hurt and humiliation. I have a feeling we were talking about the same things. My comment was to the multitude of Dudley haters that think that any time they blow out a Dudley led team that he is the one they are disappointing/hurting/humiliating. My point is that is not the case. The players are the ones that end up on the short end of the stick. Also, please enlighten on what it means to be taught to compete by parents and/or coaches. I too have been blessed to have great parents and coaches along the way. Tacking on a touchdown with 16 seconds left when you are already up by two touchdowns was never one of those lessons in class that my coaches instilled in me. There is a difference between rubbing salt in an open wound and laying off.
