  1. Great OffSeason thread Coach. As the original president and current board member of BCYF, (Boyle County Youth Football), I can safely say your are spot on with your vision of successful youth football programs. I think we have a great youth program at Boyle and I will get a couple of calls a year from other groups who want to model what we do. For starters, you need money. Before you ever touch a football or a helmet, get your organization setup as a non profit. You need a CPA, an attorney, and an insurance agent. Get your High School and Middle School coaches involved. Both are board member with BCYF. Establish a board. Good people who care about kids, who care about football, and who care about the school you represent. BCYF is advertised as an introduction to the Boyle County Football program. Not only for our players, but for our parents as well. My preseason speech always includes a phrase stating successful programs are based on thirds, 1/3 players, 1/3 coaches, and 1/3 community support. If any 1 of the 3 are missing, your program will not be successful. Our 3 main goals: Work hard Have fun Learn the game of football The end goal is to give 6th graders the necessary skill set to be prepared for middle school football. BCYF is purely a developmental league, we care more about fundamentals and technique than wins or losses. There is so much more I can offer but will leave it at that for now
  2. That, in addition to all the intangibles: Leadership, sportsmanship, High Level of Character
  3. If that shot is no good, then I know Noah Young's 75ft line drive vs Boyle didn't go in either.:ylsuper:
  4. Point taken. However, I think if you lose to the 11th ranked team in the region, it should affect your standings
  5. So Boyle goes 0-3 for the week, loses two 12th Region matchups, and doesn't drop in rankings? What is the thinking there?
  6. :idunno::scared: I know the Rebels are quite capable, but not sure they will win another game.
  7. Boyle has won 1 game since Jan 12. If Boyle cant knockdown 3's they are very easy to defend. If Boyle cant hit points in the paint they are very beatable. I am glad the district is finished and we can work on some things and hopefully find a little mojo headed into post season. Garrard has to be feeling good after beating the #1 and #2 seeds in the 45th. Congrats.
  8. worst, most underpaid job ever.....they all suck....and they are all great. I wont judge individually, they do a job I would never attempt. I like referees that do not take away from the game. I do not like referees that want the game to be about them. And now I would like some of Wireman's popcorn
  9. If there was ever a night to beat SW, last night was the night. Boyle controlled the tempo and made the Warriors play "ugly ball". Boyle had great looks all night from in the paint and beyond the arc.....they just couldn't buy a bucket. Boyle is clearly a mediocre 12th Region team, which means they can beat anyone or be beaten by any one on any given night. My fear is dropping the first round of the district, my hope is the planets all align and Boyle goes deep into the region.
  10. I believe the loss could be good for Mercer. Takes off the pressure of being undefeated and the emotional baggage that goes with that. Look at UK last year. Look at UK in 2012. I think losing to Vandy in the SEC tourney final is why they won the NCAA tourney. Look at Boyle last year. Nearly beaten by Danville in the first round of the district, then blown away by Lincoln in the district finals. Only to win the next 5 and make it to the semis state. I think the district tourney games were the wake up calls to make the run. Mercer should be proud of the 24 straight wins, put it on the shelf, and get back to work for a deep run in March. They have all the necessary tools to do so, including now the knowledge they can be beaten by any one on any night.
  11. Can anyone at the game explain the 6pt play late in the game. I watched on prepspin and never got much of an explanation on the additional ft's and possession. Kid from Lafayette hits the 3 and is fouled......then what?
  12. Rebels needed a win and got one. 45th Dist. Tourney is gonna be wild.
  13. Boyle continues to struggle to seal the deal. I think Boyle is a pretty solid team for 3 1/2 quarters but simply cannot close out opponents. Looking as far back as the Clay County game, Boyle has lost double digit, 4th quarter leads, 5 times this year. They better find and keep that killer instinct if they want any success in the post season.
  14. 4 overtimes and 5 points seperate these teams in the regular season. I think if they meet in the tourney we should just flip a coin and avoid the anxiety!
  15. Having asked my 8 ball, the answer is: Elkins hits a running 35 footer to win the game in double overtime. Rebels win!!:dancingpa Boyle 67 Lincoln 64
  16. I'm just gonna put it out there. If you are a referee and have to break-up a "skirmish" on the floor, you should at least blow your whistle and stop the game. That was a poorly handled situation by the ref. Hope he learns from it.
  17. Absolute beat down. Congrats to Mercer. That is an outstanding basketball team.
  18. I think Boyle plays their game and hopes for the best...no gimmicks. If Boyle can control the tempo I think they can be in the game in the 4th quarter. If Mercer controls the tempo, it could be an absolute beat-down for the Rebels. Hopefully, Boyle can force Mercer into perimeter shooting and catch the Titans on an off night. Mercer 69 Boyle 57
  19. This one stings as a Rebel fan. Boyle must learn to seal the deal. Boyle does not handle prosperity at all. Lincoln scores the last 10 points to go to OT. In addition to the 2 previous mentioned buzzer beaters, Noah Young throws a line drive in from 75ft to close out the half and put Lincoln up 25-19. All in all, Lincoln outplayed Boyle, especially in the first half, winning most all of the 50/50 balls. Boyle did come out in the second half and controlled the game, with the exception of the last minute. Congrats to Lincoln for a hard fought win.
  20. Nice win for the Rebels. Boyle is doing more things right than wrong at a good time of the season. But man do we need to learn how to finish. Up 13 points in the 4th quarter, you gotta take of the ball and work your half court game for easy baskets. Lincoln comes to Boyle Friday night. Should be another good one.
  21. I have watched everyone in the 45th play at least once. Watched Lincoln vs Danville and Garrard vs Boyle. Based on those game alone I rank the 45th as follows: #1 Boyle. The most talented team in the district. #2 Garrard. Solid starting 5, no bench. #3 Lincoln. Young and small, very well coached. #4 Danville. Very athletic, must force up tempo game to be effective. I will also say you could completely flip my order and make a strong case for each team. This is just my assessment having watched Garrard, Lincoln, and Danville once. I think an energetic, yet patient Boyle County beats Danville. Boyle 53 Danville 44
  22. Boyle's on ball defense was outstanding tonight. Bryce Slone did an outstanding job defending Crutchfield. When Boyle 'brings it' defensively, baskets are very hard to come by for the opposition. Nice district win for the Rebels.
