DeSales dominated that 2013 game. Anyone who was there, knows they were in control. Just like last year, they went vanilla in the 2nd. Not our style to run the other team in the ground. Anyone can look back, I always give NCC their props. But honestly they have the by far easiest path to the Championship game. If they were in the west, or a few of the teams in the west were put in the east, then it wouldn't be so easy. I know we are all ready for Football, and this going back and forth is in all good fun. I hope everyones teams make it through summer camps injury free, and in full strength come August.

Well, we have been to 3 out of the last 6 title games, winning our last two pretty easily. I've read on here before people complaining about our numbers, we are the largest 2A school, however those same people I would imagine never had a problem with us having to play in Jefferson County 4A for most of our history. I just hope the East can produce a team that can be somewhat competitive with the West side. However I don't see it this year.

The DeSales 2013 team was better than the 2014 team. We cruised through the playoffs that year. I really don't think Mayfield would have beaten us.

The east might be improved. But they have a long way to go, to match up with whoever comes out of the west. If you saw the 2a title game last year, it was just a mis-match. DeSales was bigger, and faster pretty much everywhere on the field over NCC. I can't even imagine how much they would have steamrolled through any team not named NCC. I 100% believe NCC will be there again. When they look across the field, they will see either a bunch of Cardinals, or Colts.

From what I know, and have seen so far this past spring. I like where DeSales is. Let's just do our thing, win our games, and let Mayfield have the spotlight. I will say this though. DeSales should be better than last year.

I live in Jeffersonville, and as a former Maroon player, I can't wait to come down to Somerset to watch this game. Jeff is the largest school in what is considered metro Louisville. They only lost twice last year. They will be very athletic, and fast. They put up a ton of points last year. They were a junior dominated squad last year, so they will have a lot of pieces back. I'm hoping Pulaski as always wins. But it would not shock me to see the Red Devils roll in, and take the win. It will be a tough opener.

We'll dress anywhere from 85-95 players this year.

I played for the Maroons back in the 80's. I now live in Jeffersonville Indiana. That should be a good game. Jeff, is the largest school in the whole Louisville metro area. They will have athletes all over the field.

I'm enjoying the NCC, and Mayfield fans going at it. lol Meanwhile we'll just continue to do what we do, and let the chips fall where they may. We did lose a lot of players last year, but we have a lot coming back . We're not flashy, we just do what we do, and we do it pretty well. Should be a fun season in 2A.

Name recognition. Probably the most football tradition in KY who has never won a state title. If Pulaski County has locked their borders down, then I'm afraid that Somerset has a long road in front of it. I think, and this is only my opinion, that you can throw, DeSales, Mayfield, NCC, CAL, Murray, into the state title talk, the rest I just don't see it. I can't imagine how bad DeSales would have beaten Shelby Valley last year, and they finished runner up in the East. NCC is king on that side, until someone can prove they can knock them off. The west is loaded again. It's a crap shoot on that side.

Bottom line. We will have holes to fill. We graduated 20+ players. But we said the same thing the year before, when we graduated 20+ that year also. Our classes have been very good. It's next man up philosophy. with 90+ players we have the luxury of having that " next man up" I have no problems putting Mayfield ahead of us. We need to keep that chip on our shoulder. I would rather be # 2 all year long, until after that last game of the season.

Well....I knew it was only a matter of time. As one poster above said, I do think they Colts would have been about a 2 TD favorite over Mayfield last year. This year I think it's a toss up. Game is down there if we both make it (which I believe we both will.) It could go either way. I do think the winner of that game will win State. Ohh and Bardstown moved to 3A.

Same question marks are going to surround this team as last years team. We lost 20+ seniors off our 2013 championship team, as we again lose 20+ seniors off this years championship team. One thing that has helped the Colts is a strong Freshman, and JV program. Winning breeds success, with new facilities going up, kids are really responding. They want to be Colts. As far as this coming year, we lose a lot, and we return a lot. Johnson will be back at QB, and punter. The offense will run through him. I don't expect much if any drop off on that side. Defensively anytime you lose a kid like Pirtle, he's going to be tough to replace. I think the D will be fine too. At DeSales defense is an attitude, they have prided themselves on it. Hard nosed, disciplined, and aggressive. I think the season will play just like last year. Not trying to disrespect the teams in the East, but I see the West being dominate again this year. I'm going to go out on a limb, and say CAL will not beat us this year, in regular season or the playoffs. Mayfield will slide into Caldwell's place, and actually show up in the playoffs. I think it comes down to Mayfield, and DeSales. Whoever wins that matchup will win State. Game would be at Mayfield, which will be tough. BUT.....Don't take the Colts lightly. They are Road Warriors. Not having a home field has helped this team in the playoffs.

Give me a break. We're not going to bow down to the alter of Mayfield. Just stop, acting like your a victim. We'll know in the next 4 years how it goes.

It was a response to your post #52. No one said you wouldn't get any trophies. Keep manufacturing that. All I said, and will continue to say is, you think your going to roll in, and dominate. I'm saying it ain't going to happen. Your going to find that 2A is going to be a little tougher than 1A.

There's that typical Mayfield fan coming out. I knew it wouldn't take long. Your going to teach us huh? We can't wait to see how this works out for you. lol

There's a lot of work to be done before that. We both have to make it there.

Good thing is all the talk can end. Next year, you get the chance to back up what you say. Again, this isn't the 2A that you guys played in before. We were playing in 4A then, and CAL wasn't around. Your road is a lot tougher now.

CAL was better, and Warren Central would have given you problems. You guys would have struggled to put up points against us. We beat Mayfield this year, and last. We did play the last 2 games against Murray, and NCC without our top back. I saw Mayfield play. We are bigger, faster, and more disciplined. You would not have beaten us this year, nor CAL for that matter.

Can't we just enjoy our title. You can't compare how team A beats Team B to decide if Team C can beat Team F. It's all about match ups. IMO we beat Mayfield. It's easy to say how balanced you are, but our defense dominated offenses all year long.
