Lady Eagles bounce back from the Conner loss to take a solid win over a tall and tough Lady Colonels.

You are correct and for the first half it was very effective as they were able to go into halftime with the lead. Scott was able to hold Gambrel in check the whole game, which is not an easy task. She is a heck of a player. But as stated before 2 other players had very good nights and were able to secure the win for the Lady Cougars. As a side note, not sure why Coach Kleete didn't switch or move to a zone, unless it was to take this opportunity to test the limits of the girls against some very good players in an environment of competition that just can't be duplicated. Conner is a tough opponent and the Lady Eagles have many more to come with Brossart making a resurgence and Campbell playing tougher than expected, preparation in every aspect is key. But take nothing away from Conner. They never quit, played above their norms and earned this win.

Must confess I did not see from where I was sitting, but then got there a few minutes late and may have missed it. Talking to the parents after the game they admitted it was not there best shooting night, which but to pull of a big win like this on a bad shooting night is huge. Looking forward to the HC game, but truth be told watching the speed and the way they play defense plus their depth they are going to be really tough to beat. Congrats to the Lady Bulldogs on a solid win over a strong NDA team.

And it was a good win for Conner. I said at the beginning not to fall asleep on them. They have a lot of talent as is evident by the 2 players (Roberts & Jordan) who doubled there season average while Gambrel was held to just 2 3 pointers. The true difference in this game boiled down to rebounding and 3pt. Shooting. Conner won both of those. Congrats to Conner on the win.

OK, that's just really silly. Comparing Ryle then to Ryle now is apples and oranges. Even they Ryle fans were complaining how the coaching staff hadn't figured out how to use their bigs, but hey it is what it is. But to infer that SK was too tired to play Scott tells me, 1st you weren't at the game because what made that game a fun one to watch was the intensity poured out by both teams on the court from opening tip to final buzzer. 2nd, you really didn't look at their schedule and notice that they had an 8 day rest prior and the first of the 3 games was an easy win over Grant Co. And they did the same thing twice in December with out a stumble.

Not a chance. All it proves is that it is necessary to play the game. As HHS fans can attest to. On any given night a team's shooting can go cold while another team can get hot. But please continue to doubt the Lady Eagles. They are happy to fly under every bodies radar.

100% Disagree. Scott jumped out to a 10-4 lead and held the lead through halftime. Not a let down at all. Disappointed in the loss but the girls played the game with just as much intensity as the SK game and were in it till the end missing 2 key free throws and Lay up that would have flipped the score. Lastly, to Conner's credit and in spite of to many blocks to count, Conner had the best shooting night of the season.

Lady Eagles are definitely feeling good about where they are at this point in the season and that confidence should transfer to continuous improvement on the court. That said, Conner is not a team you can sleep on by any means. They are playing tough basketball right now and while not having a dominate scorer, much like Scott, they have a balanced scoring attack. Conner is also playing tough defensively, holding almost half their opponents to under or near 50pts. This could prove to be a tough game for the Lady Eagles but I do think they take the win, +10. Good Luck Lady Eagles, keep working hard!!!

I speculated at the beginning of the season (thread is buried on here somewhere, LOL) that this years Lady Eagles would be better defensively than last years. The increased speed and length of Clephane and Meyer and the physicality and strength of Dant have taken pressure off Kallmeyer, Trempe and Stapleton to play all over defensively. I also speculated that the points per game lost with the transfer would be made up for as each girl on the team picked up an increased share of scoring. Bottom line at the mid point of the season and sitting at 12-5, the girls are having fun and in the end that is probably the most important thing.

As a side note: During the game there was a loose ball "scrum" that saw bodies flying everywhere and #22 for the Lady Neers went down. Didnt see it at full speed, but Seeing on film looked pretty bad. Saw her walking around later on the sideline but in the heat of the game lost track of her. I think I can speak for all in attendance that we hope she is OK.

Agreed that this game has no effect on regional rankings and zero impact on on seeding or qualification for region/districts. But after watching the game film if you think this game was about rankings then you missed the best part of this game and its story!!! This game was an old fashion grudge match. Between off the court friendships, AAU teammates, county rivalries, past histories, bragging rights and an undefeated season on the line there were more plot lines to follow than a season of The Bachelor. And the best part is the intensity of the game matched that from the opening tip off to the final buzzer. The top players for both teams brought it for this game and to the refs credit they controlled the game but also let them play. Fouls broke down almost evenly but what made the difference was where the fouls took place on the court.

Congrats Lady Eagles on the win. Take nothing away from SK. They are one heck of a team and Bosse is a machine around the boards. In the end this was about a selfless team effort by the Lady Eagles, distributing the ball, playing solid defense and dominating the boards (Tori Dant was an absolute beast tonight). Hopefully this finally puts to rest all the preseason comments about how one individual leaving hurt one program more than it benefitted another. Best of luck to the girls at SK for the rest of the season.

Scott jumped out to a 26-6 lead early on and never surrendered the lead. Flemming was able to close it down to 8 late in the 4th but could not get any closer. Lady Eagles played fast and loose early forcing multiple turnovers or contested difficult shots on the defensive side while successfully hitting from the perimeter at the other end. Congrats Lady Eagles on a good win. Keep working hard!

This is a tough call. On one hand you have the shooting prowess of Cummins on the other hand and on the other hand and in My mind the deciding factor is Bishop Brossart has figured out how to get the ball to their bigs and more importantly how to overcome adversity when one of the bigs is down or out. That said I'll take Brossart in a 1to 2 point victory. Best of luck to all the teams hopefully I get to stop and see a couple of the games.

Scott's defense was able to pressure BC's guards into turnovers and reduce Cummins' ability to score. Combined with multiple 3's Scott was able to steadily pull away.

Agreed. As the parent of all girls I find myself in the unusually dilemma of not really being interested in boys basketball....sorry. Back on Topic, I know Scott now has one in Senior Jenna Trempe and SK has one in Freshman Ally Neace, but I am sure there are others.

LOL.....and this should be a lesson to all out there to not post comments on public forums after midnight on New Years Eve.....LOL That said and to the topic at hand I did feel the Gallatin game was one of the better called games I have seen. The Bowen girl is an excellent player. I have enjoyed watching her play with the Shining Stars during the past couple of AAU seasons and knew that if Scott was able to keep the ball out of her hands or challenge her every step that they had a chance to win. Foul counts were pretty even going into the last minute plus and most importantly they let the girls play up top while safely controlling the banging underneath. Was it a perfectly called game? Not by any means but then the players aren't perfect either. In the end all you can ask for is consistency and in a tournament like this it should be from game to game as well. Best of Luck to the Lady Wildcats the rest of the season.

Agreed but then 2 of them were intentional bumps toward the end of the game.....that said this had to be the weirdest called game I have ever seen. I say weird because it was called in a fashion I have never seen before. One half of the court was called tight while the other was called very loosely. This created a very controversial first half as Scott was saddled with a virtual olay style defense with 2 of the starters with 3 fouls and several others with 2. Foul count for the first half i believe was Scott committing 13 infractions and Williamstown 6. And Coach was handed a Technical for trying to call a timeout. Sticking with the "consistently inconsistent" model they called the second half the same way but this time Scott was in the looser end and Williamstown was in the tighter end. Foul count for the 2nd half was something like Scott 7, Williamstown 12or 13. In the end it balanced out but I think everyone left the game feeling like the refs impacted the outcome in one way or another. By contrast the finals were called much more consistently and definitely less controversial.

Tonight in the finals of the NAS Holiday Classic Jenna Trempe scored her 1,000th point. Congrats Jenna!!!
