Chris O'Brien and Zane Ross of Cooper, playing for OE's U-17 squad won the premier white division. They beat Lower Merion (PA) 2-1, New York FC 3-0, tied Florida FC 4-4, and beat FC Dallas 2-1 (OT) in the finals. Luke Treadway of Scott and Cup Gold played the No.1 ranked team in the country, Smithtown, losing 3-1, but still qualified for nationals. It was a nice performance at the U-17 age group for the kids from KY. Congratulations to all who played.

Having seen Conner, there doesn't seem too much to contain other than Barker. He has basically one receiver. He's a fine player, but Conner hasn't really done anything to overly impress this year. I'm really not sure what makes them so superior in your mind. I think it will be a very close game.

At this point, we know some of the all region members, some of the all state members.... why is it so difficult to find this information, has it even been officially released?

I saw last year's game between these two. Cooper played about as well as you could play and was definitely the superior team. I expect the same result this year....the only difference is Anderson will be the superior team this time around.

I agree that the strategy will be interesting. At this point of the season, as a fan, I really hope Highlands plays to win and takes calculated risks when possible and just lays it on the line. They have already had an outstanding season. To play for nothing more than a respectable score would be pointless and unfair to those kids. I say go for it... and good luck.

Everyone seems to think that Trinity and Dunbar are already in the state finals. Dunbar hasn't even made the regional finals yet. If they beat Woodford county, they will face Henry Clay most likely, a team that has already tied them. Trinity has to face St. X again. Beating them 1-0 earlier hardly makes them a heavy favorite.... just saying that there's a lot of soccer to play yet. Who knows, it may all play out to Trinity and Dunbar, but I just can't see Henry Clay and St. X rolling over at this point of the season.

That is a valid point,and it will never be perfect, nor will everyone be happy I suppose.

You would have to define " everyone ". If you have have a two team district, both teams go period, regardless of record. While Highlands and NCC are both very deserving of being in the regional tournament, there is potential for that not being the case some years. In a three team district, two teams go. Geography is geography, and there is no perfect system. The sport doesn't really matter, a two team district renders the district tournament moot in every way except seeding in the regional tournament. There are sixteen regions no matter what, so I don't really see how this makes for a more legitimate sweet sixteen.

I would certainly agree with what you say. But, unless there is is some sort of realignment within districts, it will continue to play out this way to an extent. There are too many free rides into the regionals
