Scott was a whole different team today. Not enough defense to help generate good offensive play. Congrats Mustangs. Much deserved victory. Both teams advance on to the 10th region tournament.

Brossart sophomore Dylan Geiman put the Mustangs on top at the 32:04 mark of the first period, and followed up with a classic assist to Jake Jennings from the deep corner, as Jennings headed it in for the Mustangs second goal with 28:07 left in the contest. Both teams advance to the 10th Region Tournament.

For his efforts Dylan Geiman was named to the all-tournament team along with Jennings and Drew Miller from Brossart.

The 10th Region Soccer Tournament brackets will be drawn at a 9am meeting at Bianke's Restaurant in Cynthiana on Friday morning. The tournament will be played at Montgomery County High School. The Indians defeated George Rogers Clark 1-0 Thursday evening.

Early rise time for me. I went to bed. I thought the game between Scott and BBHS was well officiated. Both teams played well. Scot had only three yellow cards, which was a good night for them. Unlike Sports Fan, I thought Scott played pretty good defense. The Mustangs may have lost one player to injury. Jonn Henn, injured in the first half, was suspected to have a broken ankle, but I have received no word on an actual diagnosis. Both teams move on and I suspect that there may be a chance that they see each other again in the regional.

Is Treadway down again? Not having him named to the District team must have been a blow......The two from Scott are quality players...

Treadway was quite prominent.

Very talented young man, plays hard, always looking for an advantage, should have a great college career.

On our broadcast I called him a "player and a half," and that might be underestimating him. Incredible foot skills. Picture Jake Jennings at 6'1" (guessimate).

Having only seen him play in this particular game I merely marveled at his talents, with no predjudice.

He seems to be thie kind of player that you either love or hate. You love him if he is playing on your team, and hate him if he is not.

 

I was also impressed with the play of #5 Blake Schneider who was on the All-Tournament team. I doubt that Treadway's not being on the All-Tournament team was more a matter of wanting to give Schneider and the keeper Seay some recognition, moreso than "punishing" Treadway. He did however, receive a Yellow Card which may have weighed in on his coach's decision.

He certainly plays 6'1", but Luke is not even close to 5'10" .

TAC's take on the game.

I landed at 7:00 and drove straight to the game to catch the action. I wish I could have made it earlier to catch the girls in action. As Hoops 5 can only imagine, my love for the girls version of the game is only superceded by my love of the boys version. :laugh:

Both teams were aggressvie and strong. Very physical and well played. I thought the foot skills of Schnieder (along with his speed) and Treadway were very impressive. I thought Brossart played better as a team, but when the ball was up front for Scott there was always a threat of a score. Miller of Brossart shined at times and his spot on the all tourney team was well deserved. He made some very aggressvie defensive moves that kept the ball heading in Brossart's direction. Jennings played his typical hard nosed game and All A MVP Eli Nienabor stood out as well.

I agree with Mustang that the yellow card on Treadway could have resulted in his miss on the all tourney team. Great player but needs to play the game and not do so much talking. Also thought a few of the Brossart players were trying to help the refs as well. Not of fan of the arms wide open and the big question "what did I do" . Play the game and keep your mouth shut. Anyone who has ever seen me in action knows that it is easier said than done. :lol:

Congrats to both teams for making the Region. I think it was a statement win for Brossart after falling to Scott earlier when Scott was without Treadway. Keep in mind too, that it was Blake Schnieder's first game back since the last time the 2 teams met. Scott is better than their record. I'd like to see the 2 teams meet again, but not sure if my love for soccer will send me to Montgomery County.
