  1. At this point in time I will pick Boyd. Blair is back for Russell but I doubt he is 100%. However, if Vanhoose shoots it like he did against Letcher Co. everything changes.
  2. Along the same lines who has Elliott or Ashland beat this year. The 16th region really only has two really good out of region victories that I can think of, West Carter over Bryan Station, and Russell over I believe Fern Creek.
  3. This is a perfect example of why a person shouldn't drink out of the same cup as AT41.
  4. For the first time in a long time there is no "bye" come tournament time in the 6th.
  5. I think shooterx3 makes a very good point. McDavid is 1, 2 or 3 being asked to guard the opponents 5 man. I think the fact that he even has a prayer speaks volumes for his ability but Black is a post monster. He may not have scored 43 but he did have 18 points and 19 rebounds against a big team in Rose Hill. I think the most understated factor in this game is Fairview's ability to shot free throws. Outside of Bayless they are excellent free throw shooters and their guards are very good with the ball. If they have the lead late it is curtains so Ashland has to get off to a good start.
  6. Please remember I was blasted by Onetoya for saying the Tomcats were not EXTREMELY talanted after they lost by 50. Even in this case I don't feel like I have been critical of Ashland. I just don't see how they can be included in the head and shoulders crowd until they beat someone. By the way I would rank Ashland and Russell 5th and 6th based on their potential. I just can't see ranking them ahead of Elliott and Fairview both of whom have gotten it done on the floor at this time. If Ashland wins Friday I will be one of the first to move them up in the rankings.
  7. One - He has Morgan, Boyd, and Ashland lumped together. There are no numbers by their names. I read that as these three are the cream of the crop and then there is everyone else. If I interpreted his post incorrectly then I appologize. Of course, in his recent post he clarified my origional thought. Second - He is certainly biased toward Ashland which is fine and for the sake of charity I'm biased toward Rose Hill not against Ashland. Go back and read the football boards and tell me if I am biased against Ashland. This is a typicall response from an Ashland fan. Their record is below .500 win wins over Knox Central, Letcher Co., Pulaski Co., West Carter, and Lewis Co. Not exactly the 1927 Yankees now is it. So I'm anti Ashland because I can't see ranking them ahead of a team (Russell) that has a similar record, or ahead of two teams with better records (Fairview and Elliott). Ashland may very well beat Fairview on Friday and if so I would be the first to tell you that they deserve to be ranked ahead of them. Until then they deseve to be ranked in the middle of the region. The difference between me and AT41 is this. I see Rose Hill's short comings. Based on Rose Hill's results on the floor I think they sould be ranked 10th to 14th in the region below your Tomcats.
  8. And I doubt that AT has seen Fairview or Elliott. I have seen them all and there is not reason to put Ashland ahead of either at this point. I cannot argue that AT is entitled to his opinion no matter how biased it is. On thing is certian, he has Ashland ranked right there with a team that beat them in their own gym by 20. I know that Wilcox was hurt at the time but Blair is less than 100% for Russell. If anyone has ever had mono then they know it takes quit a will to get back to full strength.
  9. Hey AT, you need to make up a new conspiracy theory poster that features you and Frances. I never said the refree in question cheats. I will say that it seems he officiates a large number of Ashland games. Like scooterbob stated maybe it is because he gets the "high profile games" and Ashland is involved in a lot of those. Frances, are you sure he now the rule book "backwards and forwards" or is that just a guess? AT, I will give you that McDavid is better overall than Black but not in the post. Black is 2 inches taller and has a bigger body. McDavid is an excellent player but he nor can any of his teammates handle Black in the post and if Ashland has to double down or play zone Fairview has several good outside shooters. On the other hand I think Thomas is a tough matchup for Fairview. But so far this year Ashland has struggled against teams with a good post presence. These veiws are just my opinion, I have no hard evidence to back them up.
  10. I think Fairview overcomes ?????? and wins this one. I base this on several things, Ashland has no answer for Black. He is a 6'4" strong post player. This is the week spot for this particular Ashland team. Barker and Hutchinson can handle any pressure that Ashland applies and Black will have his way. If Fairview has the lead late it is curtains. The simply don't miss from the foul line. I don't understand the overwhelming confidence that I sense from the Ashland posters on this board. I think the Tomcats are capable of winning this one but it will take their best effort. Fairview is for real they have size, quickness and are full of shooters.
  11. AT, I appreciate your loyalty toward Ashland but please tell me how you justify including them with Morgan and Boyd at this point. To rank them ahead of Fairview, Elliott, and even Russell at this point is a reach. I think you will become a Fairview believer on Friday. That game will be a war.
  12. I'm not sure of the final score but Fairview won by 12. The game was tied after 1, and Rose Hill shot very poorly in the second quarter and Fairview took a 10 point half time lead. Rose Hill then scored the first 8 points of the second half but Fairview responded with a 10-2 run to basically put Rose Hill away.
  13. I like Cubster's poll it seems fair and as acurate as possible to me. Having watched Greenup, Raceland, Fairview, Elliott, Rowan, Lewis, and Rose Hill quite a bit over the past couple of weeks I think it is fair to say that there isn't a great deal of separation amoungst those teams. For my money I like both Fairview and Elliott. It is interesting that Ashland beats Letcher Co. and West Carter and all their supporters are predicting a rise to the top.
  14. Good win for Rose Hill, most likely their biggest in 3 years. I asked one of the coached before the game what the key was and he said David Chinn, and Caleb Snyder and both rose to the occassion. The difficulty level increase tomorrow against Fairview who was very impressive against Beal this evening.
  15. Fairview was over the limit on games for the season. In order to comply with the rules Rose Hill played Fairview's first round game against the David School. Tonights matchup should be very entertaining. HB Beal vs. Fairview and Rose Hill vs. Lawrence. For those of you who have not seen Beal play they are very athletic and would be a favorite in the 16th region. Fairview will have their hands full tonight.
  16. Free throw shooting was a problem again for the Royals. After two years of constant butt kickings it is nice to see Rose Hill compete. After this week I think they have to feel they can hang with most everyone in the region.
  17. Rose Hill lead by 8 to 12 most of the second half.
  18. Rose Hill just executed much better than they have at any other time this year. I think they have gotten more comfortable as the tournament has progressed. Their scoring was balanced outside of Euton. The big thing I noticed is how much more confortable Chase Jackson and Caleb Snyder appeared to be in this game. Both seem to be settling in, so to speak. Breathitt obviously is down this year but has been competitive in this tournament. They played Raceland to the wire on Tuesday.
  19. Rose Hill has won 5 games in 2 years. It is a big win and the first of many over the next few years.
  20. Dakotah Euton led Rose Hill with 25. Johnny Bush made several big plays down the stretch. Rose Hill's best win in a couple of years.
  21. I agree about the FT's. No question that killed the Royals.
  22. Tim, has been nothing but a fine representitive for Rose Hill since he signed on 3 years ago.
  23. Apparently Bush didn't move enough on the screen he set seeing as how Euton got his shot blocked. Eagle, did you think Bush got fouled on the layup when Rose Hill was down by 2? Did you think that Raceland called timeout before the held ball in the final seconds? Just curious, since you seem to be very objective.
  24. You know spindoc that's a good point. Listen, officiating didn't cost Rose Hill this game, it didn't help them but it wasn't the deciding factor. The younger official didn't make one call against Raceland the entire 4th quarter. Johnson had him scared to death. But like I said, make free throws and it's all academic. For Raceland I thought Osborne(?) was just fantastic. Rose Hill defector Jacob Sparks also played very well, he is going to be a fine player.
  25. If Rose Hill converts their free throws in the 4th quarter then officiating doesn't matter. I thought the younger official was intimidated by Johnson, he blew his whistle everytime Johnson hollered. But RH had a 10 point lead and missed too many free throws. I guess that should be expected from such a young team.
