  1. Brandon Moore (Holmes) was there and now is playing with them again, but he is the only one I recognized
  2. I Was able to watch them play this past weekend but didnt recognize the kids that were on the team although if memory is right they had at least 10-12 players
  3. Snapp,Donovan and the Andersons no longer play for them
  4. There were 2 separate Hoop Dreams teams in the 17u, both very strong teams!!
  5. The 1st and 3rd were the 2 games I watched, they started out down big in both games and climbed right back in them to make them solid fun games to watch.
  6. Watching them this weekend they are a lot more talented than what their record this weekend showed, Very solid team!
  7. I watched 2 of their games, Friday night and late Saturday afternoon, Both games they started slow and came back to take the lead and were in both games to the end(should have won both) but couldnt pull it off,I believe single digit loses, Kunstek played very well and their Guard play was very impressive for the lack of size, Donovan can see the floor as good as anyone Ive watched, he is able to distribute the ball and make plays out of nowhere. There were a lot of missed layups and turnovers down low in both games that seemed like they were just mental mistakes from the post players, This team has a lot of upside and neither Kameron nor Jason Covington played this weekend, I think had either been there they would have been a big help

  9. Does anyone know much about what to expect from Lloyd Memorial High School in Erlanger for the 2014-15 basketball season? I know this past season didnt go so great but heard there was not one senior on that squad, any chance they will be more competitive this upcoming season?
  10. One of the most overlooked players in my opinion is Ethan Snapp who plays for the 16u Hoop Dreams and at Newport High School, this kid is a lights out shooter that regularly is putting 20+ points on the board and can pull up a jumper from anywhere at anytime, I used to watch him a lot with the NKY Celtics team that was loaded with talent and he has just continued getting better and better every time i've seen him play, both 16u Hoop Dreams game's I watched over the weekend he was lights out shooting the ball and his defense has come a long long way since his Celtics day's. I am not saying he is better than some of the kids that are being talked about as being the "top 5" in the state but he without a doubt deserve to be included in the conversations.
  11. A ton of great basketball played this weekend, I watched a couple Friday night games as well as games all day Saturday and there is so much talent in the state of KY, All these kids no matter win or lose should be proud of themselves as most every team I watched rather it be winning by 30 or losing by 30 had really good talent from top to bottom, I saw a lot of kids "playing up" that not only held their own but looked like they were more than comfortable in doing so. The only negative I saw all weekend was the officiating, it was flat out awful, you would think that KBA would do a better job at making sure tournaments that mean so much to these kids were at least officiated by officials that had a clue, I watched a 17u bracket game that ended with a 5 point win by a team that honestly didnt outplay the other team but when the foul count was 22-2 (yes 22 foul calls to only 2, and one of those 2 were a last second lob from half court at the end of the game) its hard to win, I had no alliance to either team and felt awful for the kids that lost as they were getting hammered every time they came down the floor and couldnt get a call to save their lives, and for a game like that where the officiating is in question the referees shouldnt be giving high fives and talking to the coach and players like they were buddies the entire game,it was very suspect in my opinion as an onlooker and i can only hope that KBA takes a stance to improve the level of officiating as It was bad in 90% of the games I watched, I over heard a lot of chatter after games from people claiming they will not return to KBA to play because of the officiating. But enough of the negatives, Congrats to all the kids and coach's who competed this weekend and I hope to hear some of these teams make noise at nationals!!!
  12. I would assume this is the 17u NKY Celtics (I've seen them playing 17u as both the KY Royals and NKY Celtics) I've seen Donovan,Williams and Moore play with both the 16u and 17u NKY Celtics/ KY Royals teams and I dont see that team listed as playing in the 16u tournament and I've seen this group together playing in 17u tournaments Junior Stockwell (Boone Co) Blake Donovan (Boone Co) Connor Kunstek (St Henry) Jacob Barnes (Conner) Justin Rabe (Conner) Jason Covington (Holmes) Davontay Williams (Dixie) Eric Moore (Ryle) Kameron Covington (Newport)
  13. KBA tournaments this year have by far been the worst when dealing with officials, I've been there for 2 tourny's over the past month or so and every game I've watched it seemed as the officals were completely clueless as to the rules of the game and how they communicate with not just the players but the parents who are watching, no class what so ever
  14. With the talent level of the teams playing in the 16u tournament being as loaded as it is I dont see why Travelers are playing up, would love seeing them vs other KY power house teams within their own grade level.. To be fair I've not seen the 16u Travelers team play so my question is are they just that far above the other teams in the age group (which I find hard to believe is possible) or is there a reason for not trying to make a statement in their home state by becoming state champions in their age group?
  15. Just curious as to what teams will be in Lexington next weekend playing in the AAU State tournament? If you know of the teams please list the team name, grade they are playing in and if possible a roster, With all the talent the state of KY has to offer right now it seem's as next weekend could make for some very exciting basketball at KBA
  16. Also Does anyone know who ended up winning the 16U Gold?
  17. KY is loaded with talent, Between the teams that played in the Bearcat Classic and in this tournament it should make for some great basketball at the state tournaments this year
  18. I actually watched this Royals team play three times this weekend in between our games and was familiar with a handful of the kids as they are 10th graders from the old NKY Celtics team that used to have Moss on it, Williams (dont know his first name but he goes to Dixie) Kam Covington (Newport) Blake Donovan (Boone) and there is another kid that I wasnt familiar with his name but a parent told me he was also a 10th grader that plays at Boone. In the games I watched the Donovan kid started at the G position and was playing extremely well, if not for his lack of size he would/should be getting a lot more attention than what he does as he was handling the ball, playing defense and managing the game very good and can really distribute the ball, I really enjoy watching him play, he is a true PG that you can tell loves the game, I noticed he was out with an injury in the Metro game (Thanks for posting the final to that,we left before it was over and I hope the injury is not too serious). He seems to play very well with Stockwell and Kunstek, Any idea if the group of 10th graders that are playing up with the Royals plan on playing 10th grade division as well?
