I hope you're not criticizing Miller's Work ethic or commitment. That would be way off, if you are receiving that information. The Varsity Boys went 6 days a week either practice or games. That is except the one time Wera bumped the boys team for the 3rd grade girls.

Sadly, I think you've hit the nail on the head Guru. I say sadly because those issues are about making the AD's life easier, not what is best for the kids (remember them? The one's the administration should be working for.) I know you know Miller well, I think I'm right in saying he would not be the kind of person to be "content with .500 in DII"?He'd want to build a winner? Miller was WELL aware of this. Anyone anywhere near the program in any way would know Miller was very vocal about the schedule being too difficult. Shumate made a ton of two year contracts right before he left that kept Beechwood stuck with murder's row for a schedule the last two years. I assume schedules are just now getting finalized for next season? probably explains the delay in letting Miller go. Wera probably didn't want to be stuck with that task...... And as far as the gym time VOR, do you really think one gym is enough for 6th grade boys, 7th grade boys, 8th grade boys, 9th boys, JV/Varsity boys, 6th grade girls, 7th grade girls, 8th grade girls, 9th grade girls, JV/Varsity girls AND elementary programs to have practice and games? I wouldn't be surprised if that alone wasn't enough of a reason to make any incoming coach pause.

Jimmy was in his first year as a freshman coach and his dad was helping him, not ready for head coach job. He did a fine job with a very thin team.

Hit a nerve!!! Don't upset the Highlands posters! Highlands hasn't won a region in baseball, give him a chance, He MAY have a good season this year. Comparing baseball and basketball is apples to oranges. Basketball is a grueling sport and season. Baseball NOT! Once again Why wouldn't Mike Code want this job?

Most Basketball coaches don't want to deal with a very, very, successful football program. The fact that there are very few basketball supporters and as on this Forum a lot of basketball bashing. It will take an insider, someone who understands the culture and a lot of patience from the administration.. Remember the most hated man in Fort Thomas is the basketball coach. A lot of young coaches have been told to steer clear. They have to question why Mike Code doesn't want it. You reap what you sow.

This is a "Steer Clear" job. A lot of applicants will be applying just to get the experience of the interview process. Number of applicants means nothing. I look for a Highlands grad or someone from out of NKY.

Beechwood has never been in DIV II before the last 2 years. I was answering VOR when pointing out records. Sometimes it pays to read the previous posts. Nothing comical, your post is childish.

Beechwood would have run the tables in Div. III the last two years they have been in Div II and no doubt one of the toughest districts in the states. Look at their schedule. Your "Man Crush" on Noel Rash is a little over the top. Walton people have always, always been "over the top" in sitting in the stand and "coaching the coach" (pre-internet). Now they are on their way to having a very successful football program and it will only get worse! Highlands is in the middle of a very successful Football run and no one wants to point out that their AD is also the football coach, but what do I know! Now with the internet, we have parents and fans, some of whom have never even met the coach and know nothing of what goes on during school/practice saying how terrible of a coach these men are, not just in the stands but to everyone who can read. Those programs that are the most successful seem to have parents and fans who who are more positive than negative! The Holmes fans are great! They also where great when they had a not so good coach. Maybe it is time to show the kids you support them and their coach and stop bashing . I hope Rick Schumate applies for this job because he seems to know how to ignore the parental pressures. Then again Walton doesn't play NKAC DIV. III. One of the best moves I saw this year and I saw "Beetle" numerous times! SENIOR NIGHT: A known poster (BGP) and basher of a coach goes to shake the hand of the coach and the coach walks away!

No doubt it's tough! Was been like that for years, all the way back to when their withdrawal from the NKAC. Let's say 30+ years. This should have been stopped by the "powers that be" a long time ago. The most hated man in Walton, the boys varsity basketball coach, of course that goes for Fort Mitchell and Fort Thomas too. Maybe those schools need to enforce the no parent spectator rule.

He didn't lose them! They made other choices! The last thing a coach wants is a kid who would rather be somewhere else. Those kids need to be doing what is best for them, those are the kids that become problems for the program., not to mention their parents or the parents of their friends who like to get on public forums and bash coaches.

Didn't Mike Herald coach the 6th grade at HMS? I was thinking he would be the 1st in line for the varsity gig.

If you "recruit" from within the student body, what do you owe them! Kids who want to play will play! Coach those who have the guts to practice and show up. Let the others play rec league somewhere and tell everyone how good they are.
