Yes you were correct no other fielder had a chance to make a play on the ball. It was hit too hard for 1st ta have a play on it and 2nd would have had to make a diving attempt to even get close. Thanks for the input on clearing up my confusion.....

OK so in fastpitch where the corners are always inside the diamond any ball that is hit in the 3 or 6 hole that hits the runner is a play on and not an out correct? Thanks for all the replies

Need some clarification please Runner on 1st no outs. 1st base playing in to defend bunt. hard ground ball hit between 1st and 2nd basmen glances off baserunner into right field. Ump makes no call and lets play continue. I asked if he seen the ball hit the runner and he told me " as long as a batted ball passes a fielder including the pitcher before it makes contact with the runner its a no call and play continues" I have always thought that a batted ball that hits the runner is a dead ball out and runner goes back to first. Can anyone clear this up for me please. Thanks

Tough one to lose but hats off to Butler they got the hit when they needed it. The 6th inning was where BE had their best chance left the bases loaded. I think East ended up leaving 7 or 8 on base just couldn't get the hit when they needed it. Thought Raymer hit a grand slam in the 6th but Umpire says it hooked foul before it went over. Of course the fans in the OF grass said it was fair, but Ump says foul.... What can you do..... LOL.....

BE has had a great season so far, a couple more wins could make this team special for sure IMO. I have no idea how awards are given or decided on just wanted to see how she compares to others who are having a great season. I think the best thing about Raymer is she is a Junior so still has another year ahead of her that could well be better than this season. I do like to hear about players that are getting it done on both offense and defense, especially those that dont get much attention for various reasons ( coaches, location, etc).

Morgan Raymer very well could be the Player of the Year in the State not just the region. I dont know what alot of the other players around the state have done as a comparison, I do know that she has been vital to the success of the Bullitt East program this season. She may not be the best pitcher or best hitter but the fact she does both very very well has to put her in the running for sure. Id like to know how she stacks up against the rest of the contenders out there. Some of her stats: Pitching 29-4 record 274 Ks .99 ERA Hitting .436 AVG over 136 ABs .770 Slugging % 8 HR and 39 RBI Very impressive but as I said before dont know how that stacks up against the rest. Im sure there are pitchers with better stats and hitters with better but does anyone do both as well?

Never did go to international tie breaker which I thought was odd. Umpire told me that they done away with that at the high school level this year.... Great game to watch we came out on the losing end but still great to watch!!!!

Bullitt East loses heartbreaker on a Downey bloop single to Mercy in the ditrict championship game in the bottom of the 12th.4-3, Both teams played great. Mercy's middle infield with several spectacular diving plays.East hit the ball well but untimely error allows Downey to come in and get the game winning hit. Congrats Mercy and East on a well played game... Extremely entertaining to watch!!!!

Is there a list of players that made the east vs west? I know of a few that made it but would like to see the list if its out there anywhere.

Heavy that was shaping up to be shades of last year when we last to you all in the Mount in maybe the best fast pitch game I have ever seen in High School. Definatly one of the best defensive games I have ever seen in ball at any level. Lot of players laying out and coming up with unbelievable plays in a 1-0 ball game.

Jess is just a great athlete in general, good speed plays a great outfield and her pitching has come a long ways now that she is getting to pitch this season. We faced her Friday and she had us ( Bullitt East) shut down in what was a great pitchers duel. When she cam out of the game in the 4th, not sure of the reasoning, East tied together a few hard hit balls to get the W. A good win for eats but if Jess dont come out they may still be playing.

Our pitcher at Bullitt East is Morgan Raymer she is a Junior with a big future I think.

As the season winds down id like to know who you guys think will be the best pitcher in the state. Our pitcher has been strong all year I just dont know how she compares to some of the best. 24-3 record 1.04 ERA with 228 Ks and 26 Walks Best Wins vs instate comp. in my opinion are Male, Ryle, Assumption, Sacred Heart and Eastern How does this compare to the rest of the field?

I have no idea who pitched, either way the feat itself is impressive even if it was a sub par pitcher.

Shout out to Hailey Szpila from Bullitt Central for breaking the consecutive at bats with a HR last night. She hit her 4th in a row spanning 2 games. Impressive stat line from the Spencer county game where she was 3 for 3 with 3 HR and 9 RBI. Then vs South Oldham last night connects on her first at bat giving her the record of 4 in a row. Congrats Hailey on this great accomplishment.

I dont even think they are enrolled at Ballard any longer. I believe they are now enrolled at Valley. So are they trying to gain eligibility to play at Valley or Ballard..so confusing!!!! If the kids were truly bullied or the coach was out of line like what is portrayed then getting them to out of there was best thing and if that means having to wait to play so be it. It should be about the kids safety more than where they play ball. Shouldnt it!!!!

here in the 6th region we havent seen very many all year long that would deserve any postseason work. So if you have any that are worthy consider yourself lucky. It seems that the umps here either dont want to be here or dont care to be here, just ready to get the game over with. Was at a game this year and seen a ball bounced off the plate and framed for a called 3rd strike. the ump was ducking behind the catcher then looking where she caught it to make a call. Ridiculous only way to describe it.. worst I have ever seen at any level

Has to be a mix of both. You have to play better teams to get better but if you just get beat up by better teams all the time the team will lose any confidence and will think they have lost everytime they get behind. So I think you have to have some games in there that will boost confidence as well as playing the better teams.
