Definitely have my eye on Du Bois for when they play Danville later in the season, that's for sure!

And it is a big problem. The lack of local journalism means that fewer people will be held accountable, whether they are in schools or elsewhere. Just ask Danville folks how the decline of the Advocate Messenger probably facilitated what happened within our school system over the past decade when few people were held to account. There are other ways to get information but these places tend to not check sources, are poorly written/constructed, or the people writing them do not have the time to actually put depth into what they are doing. I'm glad we have this board to communicate what is going on in KY high school sports because without it, I'd be relatively clueless.

I'm hoping this defense gets better with time. The Ads soft schedule will let them pile up wins, aided by the explosive offense, but LCA will eat this team alive if the defense keeps this up over the next 2 months.

I'd have to think it'd be from turnovers or something because yeah, getting to that number when you opponent is putting up a bagel is not easy.

The Danville Admirals (3-0) stay at home for the second week in a row, hosting the Lincoln County Patriots (1-2). The game will be "First Responder Night" as it is happening on the anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Both teams have a lot of young talent with head coaches that are in their second year at the helm. Last week the Admirals stumbled out of the gate against Anderson County. They have shown some struggles defensively over their last two games against teams with bigger linemen and runners. However, the Admirals explosive offense courtesy of quarterback Dillon Cruver, running back Jayvian Meaux, and other pieces like Cam and Mylan Peters kept Anderson off balance and Anderson failed to keep up with their grindy-like drives down the field. The Bearcats did claw back late to cut into the Admiral lead but Danville got a late touchdown to ice the game and win 48-29. Cruver threw for two touchdowns on 13-for-16 passing attempts, Meaux ran for four touchdowns after gaining 145 yards on the ground in 16 carries, and Cam Peters and Gavin Baker earned receiving touchdowns. Lincoln enters this game on a two-game losing streak. They were shut out at home against West Jessamine last week, dropping a 38-0 decision. In post-game interviews with WPBK-FM, Lincoln's players discussed the need to get better at catching passes from quarterback Tucker Foster so that their offensive drives do not stall out. Some untimely turnovers also caused Lincoln to get shut out as they moved the ball into West Jessamine territory on several occassions but gave it away. Had that not happened, the game could have been closer. Last year the Admirals brought a 3-0 record into Death Valley to face the Patriots but lost a game that went down to the wire. Lincoln completed a touchdown pass with less than a minute on the clock and won 35-32. Do the Ads get revenge this year or do the Patriots get back to .500?

Wow, that pass was a thing of beauty to extend Somerset's lead.

Looking ahead: -Danville improves to 3-0. They will host Lincoln County (1-2) next week. -Anderson County falls to 1-2. They will visit Harrison County (0-2 going into tonight) next week.

Anderson fumbles the kickoff return for the second time tonight and the Admirals recover on Anderson's 43. Meaux runs for five yards on first down. 2:15 is left on the clock. Cruver drops back to pass but then scrambles and slides for no gain. That keeps the clock moving. On 3rd down, Cruver floats a pass to Baker. Baker gets a first down and now the Ads can kneel it out. Instead of going into victory formation, Ads give the ball to Jatayvion Beasley (senior) for a few yards. Then they go into victory formation and the clock expires. Final Score: Danville 48, Anderson County 29

Ball now on the Anderson 13 yard line. Ads are starting to work clock with 4:05 to play in the game. Cruver hands to Meaux on first down and that moves the ball seven yards. Clock now down to 3:25. Meaux runs up the middle and pushes the pile, earning a fourth touchdown to probably put the game away. Garcia gets the extra point. Danville now leads 48-29 with about 3:00 to go in the game

1st down sees a fumbled snap but Cruver falls down on it. That results in a 2nd & 14, Meaux gets a swing pass and gets a 9 yard gain. On 3rd & 5 Meaux rushes up the middle for a first down.

Anderson tries yet another onside kick but the Admirals recover again. Cruver does a screen pass to Mylan Peters that gets past the Anderson 25 yard line.

Fullback goes for four yards to the Danville 44 yard line. Pitch play gets a 40+ yard touchdown by Anderson, drawing them closer. Ads are getting tired and their tackling is getting worse. Anderson is moved up closer after a penalty on the extra point so they opt for a two-point conversion. They run it in via Hatfield. Danville's lead is cut down further to 41-29 with 6:21 left in the game

Anderson gets a big run up the middle and there is an apparent fumble but the officials say that the runner was already down when he fumbled. Ads announcers disagree as there is 7:00 left.

Anderson wastes no time moving the chains with another big run.

Anderson's run up the middle only gets two yards but the next play advances them to their own 26 for a first down.

Ads punter Eli Dilbeck (sophomore) goes to the Anderson 15.

On 2nd and 16, Cruver throws a screen pass to Sellers but there are too many players swarming him and he gets nothing. Cruver throws a pass for six yards to Zane Knott (junior). Ads are on their own 46 but it is really trying to get Anderson to jump. Anderson does not so the Ads call timeout. Admirals still lead 41-21 in the fourth quarter

Anderson tries another onside kick but the Admirals' Sellers recovers. Screen pass to Baker to start the drive results in a loss of one yard. On 2nd down Danville goes into shotgun and Cruver rushes for a first down to the Anderson 30. However, Sellers is flagged for a helmet-to-helmet block and it comes back.

Ads have some poor tackling and Henry Cooper (junior) runs the ball into the end zone for a touchdown. Extra point is good. Danville's lead is reduced to 41-21 very early in the fourth quarter

Anderson runs a pitch and Hatfield takes it for another first down.

The final quarter begins with the Bearcats busting a run to the Danville 31 for a first down.

Fullback run by the Bearcats nets a few yards and that ends the third quarter. Third Quarter: Danville 41, Anderson County 14

1:10 is left in the third quarter before the kickoff. Anderson brings the kickoff to their own 40 yard line. Anderson runs for two six yard gains to push the ball past the 50 for a first down.

Anderson tries to onside it but Baker picks it up and runs all the way to the house for a touchdown. So that backfires on the Bearcats. It is yet another quick score for the Admirals this evening. A bad snap hurts the extra point attempt. Danville pushes the lead back out to 41-14 late in the third quarter
