WOW. Holy Cross made a statement with this game. Take a look at the video and it will tell you all you need to know. Holy Cross played what looked to be a very nice match up zone defense. NCC made NO adjustments to counter the entire night. Holy Cross attacked NCC every time down the floor and had no problem scoring for most of the game. While watching the game in person and now the video it is very clear to see how well of a nice job the Holy Cross coaching staff made adjustments from the previous game in the All A Regional. For most of the night NCC was one shot and done, while Holy Cross did a very good job of forcing bad shots and limiting possesions. It seemed the coach from NCC was sending his starters a message early in the game, but is this the time of year to be doing so? The districts are just around the corner and a move such as this would have been better served earlier in the season. If you look at the body language of the players, this move had an adverse effect. There are games that players have to learn how to grind thru and this would have been a very good one to do so if they are to make a nice run in the districts and regionals. It was hard to notice last night but if you watch this video it seems easy to see. While I am all for the disclipline of players and sending messages, there is a time and place for that and this late in the season just seemed to be a bad move IMO. While Holy Cross did a very nice job on defense, NCC still needs to run their offense thru Keirnan!! Some may agrue this point, but I would have to say that Nikki is one of the best players in the region if not the state, so getting her the ball may not be a bad idea. She can hit from about anywhere on the court, so allow her to do what she does best, play the game. Hopefully this game provided lessons learned for all and things get put in the right direction for the Lady Breds. Good Luck to both teams in the post season, and again Congrats to Holy Cross on a very well excuted game plan in this game.

I agree with the 5 games in 6 days. Games of that much of importance will take a lot out of players and a bit of a emotional let down should be expected and with another important game on Friday, I think the boys should be able to get a mulligan on this one with Coach Brannen:). Honestly, this was a perfect game to play after the weekend. A game that should be won and was, but won ugly. Winning ugly is all part of a good team and also this will help with the focus on the upcoming game on Friday. So all things being said, I wouldnt put to much worry into last nights game. A win is a win doesn't matter what the spread is.

I said they were working toward a team championship. Why not leave it at that? You're worried about an all tourney team.

Lawnboy, since when did you start promoting just ONE of NewCath's players? Every player has their role. Jake plays his very well. As does the other members. Why start tearing a great TEAM apart with posts like this? Correct me if I'm wrong but that team is working toward a state championship, not all-tourney selections, aren't they?

I think what everyone is trying to say, is that it is more for "state recognition". What that means is at the end of the year when acknowledgement is given the stats play a part in the final decisoins. If you are a team that is not seen throughout the state, one of the ways players can be acknowleged is via the state stats. As for college coaches counting on the stats for recruiting..... well I have yet to see a player offered a scholarship just by what is on paper. They very seldom go by numbers, but to receive anytype of state wide awards I would think most look at stats to help with the 1st, 2nd..... end of the year individual and team awards.

That is a very good statement!! When some of the schools reporting have less than .500 records and they can report, why are some of the top teams not reporting? Take the 9th region for example. I notice one of the top teams in the region not reporting stats....why?? I think your statement Dawgs states it very well. "Great recognition for your players thoroughout the state". Also, that team would be one of the top 5-7 teams in defensive average, not to mention possible other player recognition. I assume that it would not take that long to input the information??:idunno:

Regardless of Clyde's assessment, tonight many feel McDonald proved himself to be one of the BEST bigmen in N KY and by some of the comments made by the Trinity people one of the top post players in the state. Drew was a warrior tonight on both ends of the floor, I think the blood on his jersey proved that! Most need to remember the young man is only a SOPH and with 2 more years ahead of him there will be great things to come!! Points and rebounds are one thing, but to watch the way this young man battled tonight was a pleasure and those that choose to attempt to find faults in the young mans game..... well there are not many if any. As for Trinity, it is very easy to see why they are one of the top teams in the state and this was a great test for the YOUNG Breds. There are great things ahead for this team and the future is extremely bright for not only this year but for a few years to come.

I would have to disagree with you Clyde on Drews low post play. The games I have seen he does a GREAT job of keeping the ball high and I really like his moves around the basket, one of the problems I have noticed at times are the angles of the entry passes from the wings to the post which in turn does make it hard at times for him to score, but to say he doesnt have a low post game.... I would have to disagree. Not only does he have good hands around the basket, his footwork continues to impress me. I do agree about his high post play also and I think that the Schulte kid would agree. He and Drew make a very good hi/lo combo. To me this has the making of a complete player. So I guess we will have to agree to disagree on his big man skills. There is one part of his game that people keep forgetting to mention. Drew does not only move well around the basket, he also is a very unselfish player who does a very good job is distributing the ball to the open man. The part that impressed me also this year was the job he does on defense!! Not many big men in the area are going to hold Campbell to single digits!! The game that I wittinessed against Holy Cross this season was one of the best jobs on defense guarding Campbell that I have seen to this point. Drew's defense seems to go unnoticed at times and when a kid is working this hard on both ends of the court.... well it should be noted. The Holy Cross game is not the only time Drew's defense has made an impact. This young man is developing a solid all around game and as only a soph his future is going to be very bright!! The Breds are going to be a very good team for years to come and McDonald and cast will continue to work very hard to make sure success will continue to happen!! As far as the type of kid Drew is, you are correct, Drew is not only a very good kid, from what I hear he is also a very good student athlete. If you put all of those tools together, he is going to be a very attractive prospect to the college coaches in the future, if not already. I wish the best of luck to this young man and the Breds.

Very good question. Would it not make sense that if the number of candidates is that high of a number for a program that has very little success, that if bosting on the number of candidates some names would be shared? Is this an issue of quanity over quality?? I could see if it were a coach under contract at another school names would not be released, but I would assume that most coaches still under contract would be very careful before applying for this position.

Was that for a JV and Varsity game? Seems like a valid price for 2 games. I am not sure what basketball is, but I think it is close to that also, but that includes admission for JV and Varsity games.

Isn't that normally a big game anytime these 2 schools play, boys or girls? I would assume that the coach and AD from Brossart should have known this a while ago by looking at the scheudle. Was this change made a few weeks ago or just recently? I would think the administration at NewCath is not very happy losing the possible gate. Girls games are usually not very well attended but I would assume this one usually is. By looking at NewCaths school website it looks as if this was to be a tripleheader. I would assume also that exams at Brossart are usually this time each year, so this kind of smells a bit??:deadhorse: It will be interesting to get some additional information on this one

BlueKrush, I could not agree more. While being new to BGP I would think that the final score could have been avoided. If I am not mistaken at the 35 point difference mark it becomes a running clock, so with that in mind I would think that enought cuts out of the offense could be ran to keep the score from being such a wide difference. Aren't scores such as this the reason the running clock was put into effect? As for the initial post of the game score of this game, I would also agree that whomever the person was that made the post could have approached this in a different manner.:idunno:
