Mason County 2013
I am pretty sure UK has reached out to talk with O'Mara. I cannot remember if it was before or after Coach Stoops was hired. I am thinking after........but not certain. Mason should be good.......lots of key players returning and Nelson is a beast at running back. Coach Buchanan an his staff do an excellent job and his teams only get better as the season goes on. I h ave lots of respect for what the coaches do.....not only on the field, but off.

Refs were not calling for the home team tonight. Omar touches the ball in the 4th qtr.......foul. Omar gets bumped......foul. Now dont get me wrong......Omar is a great player....the main reason Montgomery Co is where they are. But, if the Royals learned one thing tonight..........it is the Indians are beatable. Mason shots less than 50 percent from the FT line and the Indians shoot 90 percent. Omar himself made more free throws than Mason shot. So not sure how you can say "HOMERED". In fact you cant honestly. Royals were up 1 point with about 3 min left.......Indians end game on 11-0 run. I wouldn't book my hotel rooms in Lexington yet, if I'm an Indian faithful.- Boone County 55 Mason County 50
Royals guards not to blame for losses. Read the same comment in couple other threads..... None of Mason's guards, young or old, starters or reserves played any significant minutes on varsity last year. Say what you want......but there are several things that could have changed outcome of last two games.......and guard play isn't sole reason for losses, nor the turnovers. But we do agree on one thing......Mason's talent much better than Boone and Campbell Co. And please remember.......players do read the site!!!- Boone County 55 Mason County 50
ROYALS WIN BOTH GAMES IF O'MARA PLAYS. NO QUESTION ABOUT IT. O'MARA IS A BIG STRONG KID WHO CAN MOVE PEOPLE AROUND IN THE PAINT. HE IS FUNDAMENTALLY SOUND AND HIS REBOUNDING AND SCORING WILL BE MISSED UNTIL SOMEONE FILLS THE VOID ON A REGULAR BASIS. ROYALS ARE YOUNG TEAM NOW, BUT WILL ONLY GET BETTER.- Campbell County 67 Mason County 62
I would have to say that is probably correct. I am guessing Campbell shot above 50% from beyond the arc.- Campbell County 67 Mason County 62
Campbell County shot lights out tonight. Not sure what the final percentage numbers were.......but Campbell Co shot it well from 3 pt line. Mason Co was without starter Jake O'Mara tonight. He is possibly out for season due to knee surgery from football. Mason did miss him tonight, especially rebounding. Mason travels to Boone Co tomorrow night for a match up in Florence.- Mason County 64 Boyd County 49
# 35 for Mason County is Jake O'mara. Soph center........had 22 points the other night at Beechwood. Very talented, as well is the entire Soph class at Mason. Future is bright for Royal Nation.- Scott 62 Mason County 51
Thanks- Scott 62 Mason County 51
Mason Co had 6 soph get playing time in this game. At one point Mason had 4 soph and a Jr playing in 2nd half. 26 turnovers is a lot to overcome, especially for a young group, on the road against a Scott High team who returned all their starters from last year. Scott High is good, but give the young Royals some time, along with Steven Chambers in the next match up....the outcome could be different. Coach Carr does a good job with Scott High......he is very intense on the sidelines, and his teams always play hard. 10th Region will be interesting come March. - Montgomery County 64 Mason County 52
