Mason led 17-11 after 1st, 25-23 at the half, & 42-38 after 3 quarters...according to Danny Weddle's twitter.

Important to note that the Royals have lost one of their top performers in sophomore forward Jake O'Mara. He is out for the season. I don't know if his presence turns the Boone and Campbell games into wins, but he would make a difference. Of course, in the case of Campbell County, McGovney makes a huge difference as well.

This isn't a good loss for Mason County. Boone County is a team they should beat.

Did the kid from Boone County that was ejected in the Bracken County Tournament play in this game?

Boone's Brendan Stanley is putting up some nice numbers.

ROYALS WIN BOTH GAMES IF O'MARA PLAYS. NO QUESTION ABOUT IT. O'MARA IS A BIG STRONG KID WHO CAN MOVE PEOPLE AROUND IN THE PAINT. HE IS FUNDAMENTALLY SOUND AND HIS REBOUNDING AND SCORING WILL BE MISSED UNTIL SOMEONE FILLS THE VOID ON A REGULAR BASIS. ROYALS ARE YOUNG TEAM NOW, BUT WILL ONLY GET BETTER.

Senior guard Jesse Schulze scored all five of his points in the closing minutes to lift Boone County to a 55-50 win over Mason County on Thursday. Schulze drained a pair of free throws to tie the score at 48, and Rebels junior center Brennen McDonald hit two foul shots to give Boone County the lead, 50-48. Schulze stole the ball and converted a three-point play to give the Rebels the lead for good.

Sophomore Brenden Stanley led Boone County with 21 points, and McDonald added 13 as the Rebels won their fifth straight game.

Junior center Shawn Johnson finished with a team-best 16 points for the Royals.

Good info, McFarmer.

However, when you do do so with the caps lock button off.

Mason has to get improved guard play to beat anybody decent. Royals talent was much better than Boone but Boone wins because they hit their FT and took care of the ball down the stretch. Mason missed two FT's with about minute and a half to go and then proceded to turn the ball over the next four possessions. Royals must learn to take care of the ball and finish games better. Mason should have won both of these games.

Royals guards not to blame for losses. Read the same comment in couple other threads..... None of Mason's guards, young or old, starters or reserves played any significant minutes on varsity last year. Say what you want......but there are several things that could have changed outcome of last two games.......and guard play isn't sole reason for losses, nor the turnovers. But we do agree on one thing......Mason's talent much better than Boone and Campbell Co. And please remember.......players do read the site!!!

So are you saying that Campbell and Boone were just lucky to defeat a superior Mason County Team? I thought the Camels did all they could to give the game to the Royals, they just couldn't.

If anybody watches Mason's games and don't think the guards need to step up must not be watching the same game as I am. I did not mention names I said guards. Mason has several that plays. Against Campbell, Mason was down three and a guard throws a no look pass straight out of bounds, against Boone Mason had four straight turnovers on the last possessions, all guards or players playing guard spot. In Campbellsville, Mason played two straight games when no guards scored. A guard needs to take a leadership role on this team for them to be sucessful. As far as players reading the site, I know they do. I am sure I was not hurtful to any players. If not poor guard play, then what is the reason Mason is losing games they should win?
