Final. Shawn Johnson with yet another double-double.

Pretty sure they said on the radio that this was Coach O'Hearn's 200th win.

^ I saw the same reported on Twitter. Congrats to Coach O'Hearn & the Royals! :thumb:

Boyd County stunk. Plain stunk. Mason put pressure on them and they turned it over 19 times. Not an excuse, but Boyd looked like they have had 5 games in 7 days. Still the defense was porous and although they outrebounded Mason, they couldn't buy a basket from beyond the arc it seemed.

Congratulations to Coach OHearn and the Royals. As for the Boyd County Classic as a whole, what a wonderful 2 days of basketball.

I have the final stat sheet in my pocket.

Mason

Griffith 5pts

Frame 7pts

Greenhill 11pts

Gibbs 4pts

Henry 8pts

Chambers 6pts

#35(no name) 9pts (pretty good for no name)

Johnson 14pts

Boyd

Hunt 19pts

Stacey 7pts

Taylor 6pts

Griffith 7pts

Anderson 2pts

Burgess 6pts

Lowe 2pts

# 35 for Mason County is Jake O'mara. Soph center........had 22 points the other night at Beechwood. Very talented, as well is the entire Soph class at Mason. Future is bright for Royal Nation.

I would love to have been there, but had other obligations. Glad everything went well!

Boyd Co did a great job putting on this tourney. As always Doc, so good to see you. We enjoyed watching the games yesterday, lots of talent. Also good to see Sumoroyal at the game too.

Here are the game stats per the Daily Independent. At least (from the FT numbers) this one wasn't a foul-fest.

The Royals led 30-26 at halftime and built the margin to 14 entering the final period.

Boyd County (4-3) got a game-high 19 points from Austin Hunt.

Yes very nice to meet Gold Sunrise and Spindoc at the game last night. Mason played well at times and a little slugglish at times. Royals have to get much better. Just consider me surprised that Austin Hunt was player of the game instead of Shawn Johnson who had 14 pts, 11 reb and 4 blks. Hunt had 19 and 3 rebs but his team lost by 15. Oh well, East Carter Monday night.

Great to meet sumoroyal last night. Come on sumo, Boyd County showcase and a Boyd County kid. You got home cooked.

I agree, no hard feelings. The kid had a nice game.
