Mason County 2013/2014

Featured Replies

Basketball season for 2013/2014 should provide another exciting year. What should we expect from Mason County ? Remember, please be constructive.

Royals will be among the five or six teams with a realistic shot at the 10th Region title. Senior big man Shawn Johnson will lead the way, and he is one of the top players in the 10th. Love watching him play.

Hearing about transfers to and from?

Mason got a kid from Fleming Co but other than that please let me know.

Who's the kid from Fleming Sumo? I heard rumars that Troy Stewart was moving to Mason but didn't know if it was true.

Have heard they have lost 2+, but don't know for sure. Several on here would surely know

Amonte Thomas transferred in from Fleming Co. Cameron Jones a Soph to be moved to either East or West Jessamine and Daulton Mason transferred back to Lewis Co. Amonte Thomas has already been ruled eligible and is now playing football.

If its the kid from Fleming that I'm thinking of, does that put Mason up there with Montgomery as a favorite?

My thoughts are this..........it does not put us (Mason) anywhere until we can get out of the district. No disrespect intended. Mason will be very talented, but we have not proven anything to date. Last years district loss might be a good thing as crazy as that sounds. Augusta beat us fair an square and should be ranked above Mason in any pre-season poll. Augusta has earned that. But I would not trade Mason's lineup and depth for any other teams in the 10th region. I would look for Amonte Thomas to contribute this year and add depth to the forward position.

MC Farmer you have heard all the things I have except heard Cameron Jones was going to Augusta, With Officer O'Neal now the Police Chief of Augusta, does he have any kids that would be taking their talents to Augusta?

Cameron Jones transferred to East Jessamine.

Royals should be in the thick of things, but a trip to Rupp hinges on guard play.

Guard play will be much improved this year and will be surprised if it becomes an issue this season. Mason Co. will not have the best individual player in the 10th Region, I know. But they will have about ten players who have played together for years (since about 4th grade) and all are about equal with each other talent wise. But........they have not proved anything to date at the Varsity level.

Thanks for you info in this thread. The above will make them hard to rank pre-season, but could see them near the top if they play to their potential.
