  1. I will politely disagree and let the outcomes speak for themselves.
  2. Just stop. You think hatton can keep up with quickness of Bolden? If so, your crazy. No one in the 9th region can. Hatton is strictly a scorer. Why hasn't hatton increased his offers other than Winthrop, Samford, and Jacksonville st.? All of your points are trying to sell him on the fact he can score. We as fans already know that as well as college coaches. That facet of his game isn't in question nor have I questioned it. It's his versatility and his quickness on defensive end. If you can't guard in college the likelihood of you playing is minimal. If he plays shooting guard at d1 level I would say he is going to be slower than about 80% of the opponents he is guarding. Bolden is a pure point guard and hatton is an undersized 2 guard who lacks the quickness to defend at the high D1 level. Hatton can't play point guard at D1 level. Also, Bolden may not be done growing and even with his current frame he is still one of the most athletic guards in the state. Not to mention he is only going to get stronger. Athleticism and quickness is something you can't teach. Bolden is going to be the most highly recruited kid out of Nky in a long time. Xavier and UC are already on him. I'm not seeing the same for Hatton.... And again this is not meant to take away from Hatton at all. The kid is one of the best hoopers we have seen in the 9th region ever but in comparison to Bolden those are just my opinions.
  3. Hence why I said Campbell and Bolden are the better total package than Hatton. I'm not taking anything away from him but all around game isn't as effective as the other 2. Hatton may be able to score with anyone but that wasn't my argument Walter. There is more to playing college basketball than just scoring.
  4. I believe the order this year for the 9th should have finished: 1.Campbell 2. Bolden 3. Hatton Campbell is simply the most dominant player in the 9th region. He has all the tools and skills, upside is exceptional. Has lots of intangibles you can't teach. Also, he is a senior and he is more than deserving. Not taking anything away from Hatton but I personally think Bolden had the better year overall. Dixie has went through ups and downs all season long and they never seemed to get "clicking" together for more than a couple stretch of games. If Hatton stays in the 9th I'm not sold he will get POY over Bolden next year. Bolden is really hitting the scene and by high school season next year his recruiting is going to sky rocket. Hatton has seemed to flat line in the recruiting world as of now. I could be wrong and maybe this upcoming AAU season he will generate some more interest/offers. But when you consider the total package in regards to these three players Hatton is third behind the other two, IMO.
  5. Can also, see this game being closer than most think.
  6. I'm just using that to show Dupont and Devoto had to play in crunch time and the outcome wasn't so good for NCC. I'm not sayin that I think or plan on that happening again to Pangallo, Bueter, and Seibert....I'm simply saying that Devoto and Dupont aren't near the level of the other guards on the floor for either team and therefore I wouldn't expect them to be a big factor in this game. Pangallo, Bueter, and Seibert have to be huge factors in this game in order for NCC to win.
  7. Exactly, when they have to, it's definitely not preferred especially against Holmes guards. Take a look at the CCH game and the result. Pangallo cramps up, Bueter apparently has the flu and doesn't do anything on the offensive end, 4 points maybe? You can consider Siebert somewhat of a guard for NCC, goes down with a sprained ankle. NCC made critical turn overs down the stretch and neither Dupont or Devoto was a factor in the game. If I remember correctly, they had a couple turnovers late in the 4th quarter. McDonald and Schulte carried the Breds in that game. NCC will have to get production out of their 3 guards Pangallo, Bueter, and Siebert in order to win this game. I don't look for Devoto or Dupont to be much of a factor in a game like this. Spot minutes and hopefully take care of the ball, maybe hit a shot or two. If the Breds are relying on them for anything more than that, they are in trouble.
  8. I agree with the high ball screens. Regardless who guards Bolden, they aren't going to consistently keep him in front of him. If Holmes spreads the floor out correctly and penetrates and kicks I belive NCC will have a tough time guarding them man to man. As clyde mentioned, Cooper did a great job of forcing him down the side of the lane. That allowed them to get some help from the wing. The wing was able to help and still stay on his man (somewhat) because of pushing him away from the middle., NCC must force Bolden to the side of the lane rather than letting him attack the middle of the floor/paint area. If Bolden can consisntely get into the paint, it's going to be tough for the Breds to stop his scoring and passing ability and a very good chance it will lead to NCC big's in foul trouble. You have to realize Bolden is going to get his but you can't let him beat you with his passing ability which makes every person on Holmes team that much better. NCC must force tough angles while attacking the basket. I believe the key for the bulldogs is to really force the tempo of the game. NCC isn't very deep and doesn't have much guard play after Pangallo and Bueter. I would like to see Holmes press and keep constant pressure on the NCC guards making it tought for them to enter the ball to the post. The key for NCC is to utilize their bigs and establish a successful inside threat allowing them to get wide open kick outs for threes because Holmes is committing so may defenders to stop the post play. Although I do think the quickness of Holmes guards can have a serious effect on double downs if NCC isn't hitting from 3. Ultimately, if the score gets into the 60's or above I like Holmes, but if it's in the 40's or low 50's I like NCC.
  9. Very interesting comment. I agree, there is a very good chance these two teams are going to meet again in the region. Hopefully the finals, because I believe they are the two best teams this year, but maybe before. From a coaching standpoint I would be more interested in mixing up defenses to see how the other responds in order to get a better game plan for a future meeting. I wouldn't play entirely m2m or zone if I was either team. I would definitely mix it up.
  10. I realize that the game is "meaningless" however I was surprised by the lack of rivalry or intensity on both teams. CCH jumped out to a huge lead but never extended the lead. 15 was the biggest lead and from that point on HC kept getting closer and closer. Simply shocked Campbell took only 5 two point shots. Every time he touched the ball down low something good happened. HC fell in love with the 3. Campbell was 1-7. I know the kid can shoot the 3 but I mean 7 attempts to 5 two point attempts? I'm confused on that logic? Obviously neither team wanted to "show" anything but I was not impressed by HC. Also, I wasn't impressed with CCH letting them hang around. I thought HC played terrible outside of C. Mclendon. I know the game will be much different in districts, however, after seeing the play by both teams this late in the season against each other I would have to say Holmes and NCC become heavy favorites to win the 9th.
  11. I don't think it was the D as I was not impressed with HC defense at all. All of Ruthsatz 3's were uncontested. If there is one person on CCH that you don't want taking uncontested shots, its Ruthsatz. Fred took one 3 that was at least 5 ft behind 3 point line. Some of his other shots seemed forced, never really got going or in rhythm. Pauly was the difference in the game by far. His 16 is what won CCH the game.
  12. HC literally left him wide open. Every mid range jumper he took there wasn't a defender within 2 or 3 ft it seemed like. HC defense, IMO, was abysmal. Wichman got 2 or 3 uncontested wide open lay ups late in the game as well.
  13. If you would read my posts you would see that I stated that it doesn't make Holmes inferior to CCH and NCC because they haven't played the same schedule Walter. The fact is Holmes has not played the schedule that NCC, CCH, HC, or Dixie has played. I'm not taking anything away from Holmes, as I do think they are the best team in the 9th with NCC but your going to sit here and say if Holmes played Bullit East, Moeller, Withrow, Scott County, Trinity, Montgomery County that they would be sitting at 23-0? My point being is that the 9th, as I stated earlier, is very top heavy. Outside of the top 3 with 20 wins, HC, Dixie, and Cooper, it's not that strong. Cooper is in the top 5 but their schedule as I have laid out for you isn't all that tough compared to HC and Dixie. If you switched schedules I think you would see very similar results by HC, Dixie, and Cooper. It all relates back to the significance of 20 wins by 3 9th region teams. I am saying that its great for the 9th region for 3 teams to have 20 wins already but like you said none of them are likely to be in or beat a top 5 team in the state. So I'm confused on your logic because you say that yet, do you firmly believe that if Holmes played Trinity, Scott County, or Bullit East they are undefeated? NCC and CCH with 20 wins is more impressive to me than Holmes 23-0 record because of the competition they are going up against. And I am not taking anything away from the kids, none of my posts are inferring that. I am just explaining the significance of the 3 particular teams having 20 wins. If the 11th, 7th, or 6th region top teams were playing 9th region competition about 80% of their games, like the majority of 9th region teams do, I believe you would see more schools in those regions with 20 wins. The reason that the 11th, 7th, and 6th region don't have 3 teams with 20 wins is because their regions have more competition year in and year out. They beat up on each other whereas in the 9th like this year...Holmes, NCC, and CCH are dominating pretty much all 9th region teams besides when they play each other.
  14. Agree with Clyde on this. When evaluating and voting for POY that stuff needs to be left out. The fact of the matter is that Campbell has represented HC the past two years and has earned/deserves the respect of the coaches in the 9th region. He is a high school kid and a lot of surrounding factors are out of his control. He is a great young man who has earned himself an impressive D1 scholarship.
  15. I will disagree with you. Cooper has 4 losses, correct? 1. O'Connell, Va 57-43 2. Clinton County 48-46 3. NCC 44-42 4. Holmes 50-44 2 of their losses come from the 9th region. Clinton county was hammered by CCH. The only loss that comes out of the 9th region is to O'Connell, VA? Who I honestly don't know a thing about. Played them at Scott, so for your sake I will say that is a good loss to a rly good team. Now for their 16 wins. 4 wins in the 10th region 11 wins in the 9th region 1 win in the 8th region Their remaining games 1 8th region SK 4 9th region CCH, Newport, Boone, Dixie 1 10th region Scott Now for Newport 15-6 Losses 1. Holmes 2. Dixie 3. Brossart 4. NCC 5. NCC 6. Boone All of their losses are to 9th region teams. Wins Beat Carroll County by 1, not sure what region they are in. For the rest of their opponents, all within 8th and 10th regions. So both Cooper and Newport are both beating inferior 10th and 8th region teams and that makes their schedule hard? Give me a break. HC and Dixie have tougher schedules. If HC and Dixie had these identical Schedules they wouldn't have a 11-9 and 12-11 record. You can say what you want about holmes, naturally your biased but to compare common opponents based off who CCH, Holmes, and NCC have played doesn't do much for me. High School outcomes has a lot to do with math ups. Theory is proven by Clinton County, CCH hammers them by 30 and then Cooper wins by 2. Doesn't mean CCH is 28 points better than Cooper, which was also proven. I'm stating the facts and the facts are that Holmes has not played the schedule that CCH, NCC, HC, or Dixie has played this year. Hence while they are 23-0. HC, NCC, Dixie, and CCH have played the teams in the 6th, 7th, or 11th regions as well as ohio opponents that are top tier. Does that mean Holmes is inferior to CCCh and NCC because they haven't played those teams? No, certainly not, however the record 23-0 is what it is because of that schedule. Change schedules and its a little different.
  16. May I ask, exactly what team has a brutal schedule in the 9th outside of CCH, HC, NCC? Not even Holmes has a tough schedule.
  17. It's a good thing for any team to have 20 wins in Feb. but realistically the 9th region is top heavy. Top 3 teams all have 20 wins however 4-7 are just above .500 and 8-10 have losing records. And all of the 9th region teams schedules are primarily loaded with 9th region games. Teams in the 11th and 6th, by far the best two regions, constantly beat up on each other and that is primarily the reason I would think there isn't more 20 win teams out of those regions. 9th region is deinitely one of the top 5 regions in the state year and year out but the reason for 3 teams with 20 wins has a lot to do with the rest of the 9th region being pretty weak.
  18. Yes they still are. However, your not making a very good arguement for why Bolden should win it over Campbell. Your point is proving that Campbell is much more valuable to his team than Bolden is to Holmes. Which is very true Campbell is HC and without him they are very mediocre. Holmes is better player for player outside of Campbell and Bolden. HC has some good role players but IMO not the same effectiveness as Holmes supporting cast. Now if Chames was still at HC this would be a different story. IMO, I think Bolden deserves it more than anyone being a sophomore, posting the stat line he is, and of course being undefeated. However, with that being said lets be fair to HC, their schedule is ten times tougher than Holmes. So that throws a wrinkle in the mix because I can guarantee you Campbell's numbers are about as good as anyone's in the state. Also, Campbell is very efficient! I honestly think these next two weeks and district play will play a pivitol role in the selection because it is so close and with that being said I give the nod to Bolden because I don't see Holmes losing before regional and play. How is a kid with Bolden's age, numbers, impact, and team record not get POY?
  19. This game is virtually meaningless. Either team can beat the other in district play and get to the region. If either coach has a particular game plan to beat the other I wouldn't show it, rather just play straight up.
  20. I think the top two candidates this year have to be Bolden and Campbell. Right behind those two is Hatton. I'd give the favorite to Campbell as of right now, being a sr, but depending on the next couple weeks it could likely change. If holmes goes undefeated into the regional, it would be hard for Bolden to not get it with the way he has taken over the 9th this year. But then again Capmbell is as dominant as they come all around wise.
  21. First, your the one who is clearly upset and feel the need to go on a rant about this particular issue. I don't have a dog in the fight nor do I know beechwood personnel top to bottom to know what kid did or didn't get to play. Second, I'm just stating my opinion that Booher shouldn't be concerned whether Beechwood's starting 5 or their last 5 on jv are in the game. The reason I say that is bc Palmer and Coston started the 4th and played at least 3 or 4 minutes and Bolden re-entered with a little under 5 minutes maybe....regardless if the jv for Holmes or the starters played for Holmes in the 4th quarter the outcome was going to be a 20 point Victory. Therefore that makes me question more why Booher even checked Bolden back in? This doesn't mean I'm saying what Miller did was ok however I couldn't even tell you who didn't get to play. If he is a senior and didn't get to play last night then yes I do agree he definitely should have got some sort of minutes at the end. But I guess my point is that it's not like Holmes cleared their entire bench for more than 5 minutes. Some of the starters were in until about 3 minutes or so left in the game.
  22. I disagree with playing a pack it in zone and hope Holmes miss outside shots. Yes, Beechwood must force outside jump shots however, Beechwood's strength is not in the half court. If they slow the game down how are they ever going to get an opportunity to score on the other end? Beechwood couldn't run a play last night until Huff got 3 late 3's on Holmes JV team. The thing you have to realize is that whether beechwood plays zone or man Holmes is going to get theirs regardless, they are that much more talented top to bottom. It also didn't help that Holmes played very well last night and shot a high percentage from everywhere including the free throw line. Once Beechwood broke Holmes press they had success getting to the rim, some put backs, and hitting some open jump shots. IMO, that is the best way beechwood can play. They are hard to watch in the half court on offense. Scoring 62 against Holmes is very good for beechwood. All things considered I was pleased by the effort on Beechwood's part. There were several times where They could have put their heads down and quit resulting in a running clock but I don't believe it ever got to that point.
  23. Clyde, do you think Fredrick is more productive than heppler? Seems to me heppler needs more shot attempts...Montgomery and with row 5 threes in each game...:someone needs to get that shooter the ball!
  24. Booher had coston and Palmer in to start the fourth quarter and bolden came back in with about 5 minutes to play? Not so sure why Booher would be super concerned about who is on the floor for Beechwood when he is up 30 points. If anything it should be his last concern, obviously beechwood can't hang with Holmes so why is it necessary for Booher to care?
  25. I'm not so sure what game you were watching because beechwood scored in transition better than they did in the half court. Nussbaum, Shover, maus, and huff got the majority of their buckets in transition. The only points they didn't get in transition was late in the game when huff made three 3's off set plays. Holmes full court pressure honestly isn't that great, they gamble an awful lot and constantly reach. Good teams that can break their press will get easy lay ups. Bolden is the real deal best player in the region hands down. Very efficient and makes very good decisions with the ball. His euro step tonight was enough to let me know he is D1 no question. Good to see him really stroking it from three as well.
