  1. Well he didn't guard Monroe against Pendelton? And Monroe got his...7 point game at home. The committee guarded Bolden and they couldn't stop him. Nick's D at the next level is most certainly his biggest weakness and that translates to size. He simply struggles with bigger, faster, stronger guards both on offense and defensive end. Holmes and HC in districts last year. Struggled at NCC on offensive end against Bueter, and Pangallo arguably had the best game outside of McDonald, NCC's point guard. So did Ruthsatz guard Pangallo or not?
  2. Which yes Nick can hit those shots, however he does have the green light to stroke it whenever. When Listerman coached at CCH, you think all of those guards had the green light to pull whenever they wanted? The only person mentioned in those guards that comes close to averaging 14 shots a game is TJ. The rest, no way they shot on average more than 10 times per game. The scoring was much more balanced throughout where there were several guys averaging around 10 ppg. That is why I alluded to what do you think those players would have averaged if they were taking 14 shots a game? My point being, nick is averaging 20 ppg from the PG position, when is the last player to average 20 ppg at CCH? It hasn't happened in years but to say that players within the last 10 years weren't capable isn't true, it's just they didn't take as many shots nor have a green light like Ruthsatz does. As for AAU he plays with the Ohio Phenoms. The few games I saw he didn't play as a natural point gaurd. His same game translated over however he didn't nearly take as many shots. Goes back to my green light, point. I personally, wasn't very impressed in the few games I saw him on the AAU circuit.
  3. Gabbard walked on at WKU. I should have said played D1 with success meaning stayed at the school and played valuable minutes.
  4. I agree with 4pointplay on Ruthsatz committing more on the defensive side of the play. Every time I have watched him play all he does is gamble, reach, and look for steals. He usually guards the other teams weakest guard. I can't recall a time Ruthsatz has ever locked someone up on the defensive end. With the way CCH plays and Ruthsatz averaging 20 a game it purely shows that he is relied upon to score the basketball, thats it.
  5. I'm not saying colleges are recruiting based off points but when you look at Ruthsatz stats or watch him in person his biggest attribute is scoring. In fact, I am showing that scoring the ball from a PG perspective, at the next level, shows us very little as far as what division the kid can play. Thing such as size, quickness, ability to pass, and ability to defend are much more important. When comparing these skills ruthsatz, IMO, is no better than any of the kids mentioned in the last several posts. That being older players from CCH, Hester, Smith, or Gabbard. None of them played D1....therefore I don't see Ruthsatz playing D1.
  6. My biggest question is....CCH has had some phenomenal guards over the years...yet not 1 comes to mind for shooting as much as Ruthsatz does. Granted over the years the talent level was pretty darn good and the CCH teams had depth and made Regional runs year in and year out. Some of the names that come to mind are: Nestheide Tierney Shover Combo Guards Bain Jacobs Bovard If these guys were taking as many shots as Ruthsatz does night in and night out would they average just as many? Keep in mind every one of these players played at the collegiate level.
  7. Hester was a much better all around player than Ruthsatz, IMO. He didn't go D1...Union and then NKU when they were D2.
  8. TJ was more of a SG, he wasn't a PG and in college at TMC was set up to play SG. Todd's best skill was putting the ball in the basketb, not defense or passing the ball. Similar to Ruthsatz, however they played different positions.
  9. Bolden will need to show consistency with a jumper but that is something that will only improve the more he works on his game. Which by the way he is a complete gym rat. Also, he has been very efficient this year with his shooting percentages from waht I have heard. Bolden has all of the things you can't teach. So much with recruiting these days has to do with potential and upside. For example, Bolden is around 6 foot still has time to grow, can play above the rim at a little under 6 ft point guard, has the quickness, and is very long. Ruthsatz has flat lined already. I don't see him growing anymore, he won't ever play above the rim, and although he is a great scorer at the high school level it has been shown that he is very stoppable. It would be interesting to see him in a role as a pass first point guard but I have yet to see that at High School level or the AAU level. His go to is his scoring and if he ever plays D1 scoring will be last in line. If he can't guard at that level, he will simply never see the floor. Who is recruiting Ruthsatz Clyde? I have heard Wofford which a player by the name of Brad Loesing, played at Cincy St. X, 6ft 190 pounds had a very successful career. But if you compare the games of him and ruthsatz they are completely different players. Brad was never a volume scorer, was he capable? Definitely. But his defense and passing ability was off the charts. His motor was great as well. Another comparable player at the PG position would be Ethan Faulkner currently playing at NKU. 6'1'' 185 lbs a pass first, high motor, defenive type of player. Since the move to D1 his shooting percentages have struggled but assists have been solid as usual. Nick Ruthsatz is listed at 5'10'' 160lbs. That is a bit generous he is probably 5'8'' and it would be pushing to say 5'9''.
  10. Bolden, hatton, Campbell will all play D1 for sure. Ruthsatz is not a D1 player. His limited size will be the biggest factor. Second he has struggled against quicker stronger guards. Also, he doesn't play much defense, everytime I have watched him play he is just gambling all over the place. Great player at the high school level but don't think he has the capability of playing D1.
  11. Clyde your simply wrong point blank. You go back and forth with your assessment non stop. Always picking certain things and leaving out others. I'm not the only one who thinks that as you can see others on this thread agree with the majority of my points and I'm clearly not the only one thinking your way off on your views regarding this subject. Do me a favor and ask Walter about your rankings. I like how you add then maybe Drew...starting to think your judgement is being affected by the pure fact your incorrect and can't admit it. You even witnessed it with your own eyes....very stubborn....expected better from a veteran bgp member. Finally, I have no relation to Drew, not sure why you are stuck on that? The back and forth posting has went on for so long is because when your wrong about one point you try to pick another one out.
  12. Yes a nice player and is starting to come into his own at Dixie. Has stepped up nicely this year for the Colonels. Hatton, Schreck, Rabe, and Daria could be the deepest set of guards in the 9th next year.
  13. Another Jr. is Zach McNeil he has solid game and can really stroke the 3.
  14. There are two Moeves. Tanner Moeves is the junior, broke his nose this year. Grant Moeves is the sophomore.
  15. Bolden is the best point guard followed by Ruthsatz. Pangallo is right on their heels. If he keeps having games like he did against CCH he will be in the Ruthsatz discussion.
  16. Juniors Ruthsatz Hatton - Holbrook - Moeves Hemmerich Trentman Schulte I know I'm forgetting some good players...any help?
  17. As we can agree on the shooter's mentality, if there is anyone on CCH I want taking shots down the stretch it's most certainly Ruthsatz no question about it. I personally would just like to see him, at those times, distribute to his teammates and get some easy scores. I know he is capable. I'm glad your adding fun to the heavy weight match going on because I know there has to be some viewers out there that may be tired of reading the back and forth comments. As for the match I see more 10's on my side than Clyde...I must say I am a fan of your grading system....not so sure Clyde is going to agree...but then again do we ever?:thumb:
  18. I do like Hathorn's game. High motor and really hustles. He's going to be a good one for Cooper over the next couple years.
  19. Actually neither, just believe Clyde is all over the place with his posts regarding this subject. Too much back and forth for me...but I think we all know Clyde would never admit he is wrong with his assessment :ohbrother:
  20. Certainly not, as Clyde is all over with his assesment. Plus, he deserves a thorough response after he took the time to re-watch the game and chart McDonald's shots....don't ya think?
  21. Moken if you refer to my post #63...Difference was Ruthsatz at the end of the game with an assist to Tobler, And-1, and a steal to seal it. I agree you definitely want your best player with the ball in his hands at the end of the game but I would like to see Ruthsatz, when struggling shooting, look to penetrate and create for others. He is definitely capable as we have all seen his ability to pass the ball however I think he gets a little too carried away with pulling the trigger even when he isn't having a great shooting night.
  22. Again, your claiming he was able to score on the smaller Schult, but there wasn't a mismatch? :confused:Did they double Drew in the paint? Who on CCH was able to guard him? How many of those possessions did he get fouled, because that is almost as good as a lay up with him at the free throw line? Clyde I just don't understand your back and forthness (if that's even a word). First, you say height doesn't play a factor in guarding the post, then you go on to say he scored on the SMALLER Schult alluding to why Drew was able to score. Then u discredit size such as weight doesn't matter in guarding the post. It was clear that no one on CCH could handle him he nearly had half their points and was in foul trouble in the first half. He scored around 75% of their points in the second half.... I would love to hear your take on where Drew ranks on the list of top big men in the 9th region. I respect the fact you went back and watched the game and charted shots however, please find me someone better than him whether its in the post, back to the basket or face up in the post outside of Campbell. Your comments in previous posts about how he is limited and has raw post moves....do you stand corrected? If not, well then it seems to me your being awfully critical of a top player. Drew can certainly shoot the ball he has a solid midrange game and excellent free throw shooter. He showed his ability to hit midrange jumpers and threes on the AAU circuit this summer. I believe his reluctant to shoot them at NCC because there are other players that take majority of midrange jumpers and threes. It seems to me they believe he is most effective on the block and they focus on getting him the ball down there. As he gets older I believe he will begin to extend his range outside of just the paint at NCC.
  23. Also, this has been a very critical point of ruthsatz's game. He tends to force way too much as shown by his poor shooting performance. I first notcied this last year in the districts. He had poor shooting performances against Holmes and HC but it didn't stop him from hoisting them up there.
  24. I'm speaking in terms of on paper, such as a scouting report or comparison of the two guards overall, not this specific game only. Pangallo other than McDonald was the best player on the floor last night.
