  1. Was there all week and never had my ticket checked. As a matter of fact I got 3 tickets for the title game and then my daughter got into town Sunday morning and wanted to go so we got her a ticket online through ticketmaster and it was in a different section than the rest of us but she still was able to sit with us because no one ever checked our tickets. It was a huge difference at Rupp than it is at Great American or Paul Borwn Stadium or even at NKU where they always check tickets before going into a section. Rupp they never once asked and we moved around a lot.
  2. Price isn't bad. Best seats go for $13-$19 depending on where you get them or you can get them through your school for around $11
  3. I love it how it is, it is what seperates Basketball from Football in my opinion. Football would be unfair to have 1 championship simply due to the number of athletes needed to compete on the field at one time. Basketball although there are some things I would still love to see changed, overall when you are just going heads up with 5 athletes vs 5 there can be a dominate team due to only having 1 player who is head and shoulders above the rest. Doesn't matter if that player is from a small school or a big school. I love how it is now and should never change. If changes were to be made it would be in the rules, not the classification.
  4. Cooper didn't disappear. They only lost by 2 to CCH this year during the season without the McNeil brothers due to injury so I wouldn't say it's by a large margin at all. Cooper still has C McNeil, Brayden Runion, Adam Kunkel and T Ollier returning. I'm not saying Cooper will win the 9th region, but I'm definitely not saying Cov Cath is a big favorite as you think they are.

  6. I don't look too much into attendance numbers for the finals. The game was the same time that UL and UK were playing if I am correct so unless you're a fan of one of the teams in the finals it's hard to draw basketball fans today when the NCAA tournament and two in state college teams are playing.
  7. That's awesome then! That's why I stated I have no idea if what was said was true or not. Just passing on what I was told was all.
  8. I think BGP had a hiccup. We posted those in not only a different thread but a different forum.
  9. Arkansas has no one but themselves to blame for that loss even though UNC got help from the officials at the end. Arkansas offense was offensive the last 2 mins when they had a 5 pt lead. Tossing up shots near half court and not running any offensive plays. Mike Anderson was clueless as he stood in the sidelines and his only coaching was pointing to his heart thinking that would inspire his team. Clueless.
  10. Here is what I heard today but who knows what the truth is. I heard he is going to a prep school because if he didn't he wouldn't be able to play all 4 years in HS either in KY or TN due to age.
  11. You are 100% right. But it helps add to it.
  12. I would have loved wherever they were playing as long as they were playing. My point was simply the venue added to the tournament. I understand Jim's side of the argument that he wants modern buildings etc. but Rupp isn't falling apart. Didn't see any rats, didn't see plaster falling off the walls. Didn't see beams falling down or the ceiling falling. It's for basketball games and the arena itself is just fine. Seats were great, had no problems with the building at all. Jim may like seeing glass walls or moving sidewalks etc to help get around but I don't go to sporting events to walk around the hallways, I go to watch the game(s). So the actual field/court and seats and visibility is what is important to me. Not what the janitors closets look like. With that, the history of the place for me is the icing on the cake.
  13. Starting after each game I think from elite 8 on they gave out the awards to the members of the losing team. I like it because they didn't have to come all the way back after the title game was played.
  14. Just showing that venue does add a little to the tournament that helps make it even better was my point.
  15. It just all comes down to personal preference I guess. To me the tournament adds excitement to me for where it's played. Football for instance doesn't excite me to go to the games because where the championships are played. Being a lifelong UK fan however makes the sweet 16 awesome of I were in HS playing because of where it's held. Same as I'm sure UL fans felt when they got to play at Freedom Hall. Just my take is all.
  16. I see what you're saying. I'm just too much of a history buff myself. I wouldnt ever ever want to tear down Wrigley Field or Fenway park but I know others would because they don't like old buildings etc. I'm about the history myself. That's where we differ.
  17. I respectfully disagree. I think the venue only adds to the entire event. I think if you asked the kids who play in it if they'd rather play at Rupp or at Trinity HS, the overwhelming majority would pick Rupp. It adds to the entire tournament.
  18. It's the Mecca of College Basketball and has everything to do with UK and their history. Can't help the haters. If I lived in NC then I would love to have the state tourney at Cameron Indoor. Its the team that plays there that makes it so special. These kids grow up watching their heros play at Rupp and they want to play where their heros play. So it has everything to do with the building and the team that plays there.
  19. I've already decided that when I retire in 2023 (Hopefully) I want to take 4 days every year and stay at the sweet 16
  20. Dont agree at all. Dickie Beal was the smallest UK player but the best defender they had back then.
  21. Being the first time I ever attended after all these years, all I can say is WOW. It truly is something special. What makes it as special as it is, is where it is played. I don't think it would be quite as special if it was held anywhere else but someplace as historical as Rupp Arena. That is the icing on the cake. No offense Louisville, but playing at the Yum Center just isn't the same if they ever moved it there. Keep it at Rupp until it no longer stands period.
  22. you forgot who should have been tournament MVP "The Jake"
  23. Yes, they have a pre selected number of slots for each team depending on where they finish. Personally I would have gave those 3 kids and Brayden Runion if it wasn't ore determined with how many slots they got. All 4 very well deserving.
  24. It's the ALL TOURNAMENT team, not the finals team.
