Ninth Region predictions
Four King Crazy replied to Playtowin29's topic in KY Softball (High School)
The Unbelievables! I think you could write a movie script about that game and last season (everything from a couple horrific games early to the end of the season with Spencer having emergency surgery then Mason pitching the way she did to beat NCC in District Championship then Spencer coming back so soon in Regionals) beating Boone in the semis to "The Game" the way it went down and Holywood would tell you that's to unbelievable! Rewrite it and make the finale a little more believable. Which is where we add some footage of the show that some of us put on at the moonlight buffet! What a movie it would be! -
What is official gametime this evening

My top 10 I mean top 11! 1: Notre Dame 2: Highlands 3: Conner 4: Boone County 5: Dixie Heights 6: Newport Catholic 7: Ryle 8: Walton Verona 9: St. Henry 10: Brossart 11: Campbell Co This week showed not much separates the top teams and I moved those that are playing good up or won head to head matchups up accordingly. If nothing else this week showed it is going to be a very interesting couple weeks with district tournaments leading up to what are going to be great regional tournaments. It has been said many times anything can happen which is why they play the game. Good Luck to all and may the best team Win!

Walton Verona 10 Bishop Brossart 0
Four King Crazy replied to BiggDaddy's topic in KY Softball (High School)
Kudos to Walton Verona for playing a tough schedule! There are teams that play an easy regular season schedule against weaker opponents which assures wins and better stats which does make for a Great end of season banquet! Then there are teams that plays a tougher schedule which means you might take a few lumps facing better teams and better pitching but get you ready for tournament play! Like somebody already said it's fun and games until the playoffs and seasons are over to soon. -
That's a great team batting average, and you do keep a tight book! If I was doing book they would all be hitting .400 or better! :-). No wonder it seems like the girls are killing it top to bottom! Sorry for putting you on spot didn't realize the policy. I am a TEAM guy before INDIVIDUAL everytime yet I think it is a compliment to the team when any individual has great stats because somebody has to be on base to get to 50 RBIs and somebody has to be hitting good behind you to see enough good pitches to hit 10 Dingers in a season! I hope they all get first or second team tonight! Shelby deserves to be named on state level and that's a tough list to get on especially from Northern Kentucky!

co player of the year last year.
-
With the NKCA thing on horizon play2win29 how about some stats for the regular season! Should be impressive vs one of the toughest schedules in the 9th region. If Graybill doesn't win player of the year this year (last year was a bad deal) they need to scrap a broke system and start over. Yes that's just my opinion we will see who is POY and how many outfielders make first or second team? I think 1 outfielder made honorable mention last year.

Great article about Haylee Smith
Four King Crazy replied to Lawnboy13's topic in KY Softball (High School)
That was a great play! First time I ever saw that defensive rotation with catcher covering 3rd on bunt coverage actually work got the girl out going from first to third. -
How did the 5-4-6 double play work on the bunt. Ball bunted to Quillen at third throws it to first with Gabbard covering for the first out. Was The second out made at third? Or second by Coffey?

Highlands 7 Johnson Central 1
Four King Crazy replied to Meatpuppy's topic in KY Softball (High School)
No doubt birds are looking good! Hitting that stride at the right time of year. 2 impressive Wins yesterday's against good experienced teams with good pitching. Ohh had a chance to talk to a couple Johnson Central people yesterday and it didn't take much to discuss that play last year at state! By far the biggest injustice I have ever witnessed in sports! -

What's the biggest game in 9th week of May 11th?
Four King Crazy replied to dallaslaredo's topic in KY Softball (High School)
Southgate Exit (old Beverly Hills Exit) off I471 of Traveling N on 471 turn right it's about a mile on the right. There is extra parking just past field on right or at Woodfill Elementary. If you haven't seen the progress of this complex come to a game and see what when complete will be one of the best! -

LOL sounds like Bailey got last laugh -
Meat puppy is correct college coaches do not use stats from high school, they may follow kids they are recruiting but IMO not for locating talent. When we were going through the process for my DD they flat out tell you High School are to inconsistent and not worth using as a evaluation. It's not just the pencil whipping its more the competition teams play! Way to many high school teams are more interested in having great end of year banquets than winning championships! You can play a weak schedule and beat the heck out of teams which pads the stats (even if consistent) for hitters and pitchers (which make for a great banquet) but if they were playing better teams (getting better to win championships) would not be doing near as well. If you are wanting to get the attention of a college coach make a skills video put it on YouTube and email the link to the coach. If your a hitter they want to see 10-15 continuos swings not an edited best of the best. It can be the best 10-15 out of 100 swings but they only want to see a couple minutes of your video highlighting your skills if they want to see more they will ask you to come to there camp which if you like a coach or school you should go to there camp to show them your skills in person. Obviously pitchers have there own set of skills the coaches want to see on the skills video. Don't get me wrong if you threw a no hitter against the Louisville sluggers in Colorado put it on the video, but throwing one vs a bad team has no value. Don't believe me go to some of the off season recruiting camps like the one at Kent State usually in early January which is a good one and ask the coaches what they want to see.

I know which team will win the 9th region
Four King Crazy replied to redtruck's topic in KY Softball (High School)
Well Said! It's going to be an interesting couple weeks to see which team(s) comes together and which ones fall apart! -
Best Pitchers have more than a fastball. A good change up is huge but a rise ball or sinker ball makes a good fastball a lot better.
-
Waiting....could be interesting just depends on which 5 and what other teams they have beaten in greater Cincinnati.???
-
IMO. Moonlight BBQ is a must!
-
How hard is it? Why wouldn't all coaches represent there opinion? Is this the same system that is used to name player of the year? Since there were 9 first place votes does that mean only 9 teams were represented with votes?

Bishop Brossart Wins Tenth Region All A Classic
Four King Crazy replied to BigGreenHorse's topic in KY Softball (High School)
The All A is not a KHSAA state sanctioned event even though they use the same regions they have there own state tournament for small schools. It may be ran better than the KHSAA tournament! It was a great concept to give the small schools a tournament to be on a level playing field. It will be interesting to see how many of the 16 representatives are small independent schools like Dayton, Bellevue or Ludlow and how many will be small catholic schools. -
-Shelby Graybill (JR at HIghlands) is going to Bowling Green University - Whitney Quillen (SR. at Highlands) is going to Thomas Moore - Sam Smith (SR. at Dayton) is going to Union College - Felicia Watts (SR at Dayton) is going to Thomas Moore. I figured it was a good Rainy Day topic to give these girls there props. I know there are many more so I will defer to you for updates.
