  1. That group? They are about as boring and mundane as you can get. Rob finally got them to loosen up a little... Lol
  2. Of course it's not... It's like me winning a country club golf championship and then people proclaiming that I'm the best golfer in Northern KY. But I will say this. I'm a pretty smart "grasshopper". Rather than sending my kid to a school that I can see from my back deck, I sacrificed for her and sent her to the best public academic school in KY to earn a great education and play for the best coach in Northern KY. Seems to have paid off so far. Nearly a full academic ride to Denison University and playing softball for them. Just to add... We have a pretty good record against Alexandria teams... See Ya in Owensboro... Oh wait... Nevermind
  3. Love Joe Stephenson and Kennedy Baugh but really... I guess three region finals and two championships in the last three years mean nothing... No validity in this at all
  4. Rachel had an awesome game... 3 for 4 with an RBI. She has really turned it on this second half, especially in the post season
  5. It's tough to beat a quality team three times but the Ladybirds did just that tonight at Bartlett Field, home of the Newport Central Catholic Thoroughbreds. 1st Inning Ryle's Branson singled on an infield single to the pitcher, Spencer then stole second. Spencer then struck out the next batter. Branson moved to third on a sac fly to right but thats as far as she would get as Spencer added another K to end the half inning. The Birds sent 6 hitters to the plate in the bottom of one. H Coffey reached on an error. M Coffey singled to the pitcher. Graybill HBP. Dutcher pops one foul off third but the umpires confer and call Coffey out at third to offensive interference. (poor call in my judgement) Dutcher reaches on a FC-5 forcing M Coffey at third. Gabbard gets a line drive single to right loading the bases. Then Daley gets HBP to force in the first run of the game. The inning ended with a K. Score 1-0 Birds 2nd Inning Ryle goes down in order GO-6, FO-5 (Great over the shoulder catch by Barth) Then another FO-3 in foul ground with another back to the plate catch by Dutcher (Reminiscent of her Region Final catch against NDA a couple years ago) The Birds return the favor going down in order in the bottom, GO-6, FO-1, FO-8. 3rd Inning Ryle knots the game at 1 with a FO-5, Morgan BB then advancing to second on a Passed ball. Branson singles to left moving Morgan to third, Irons get an rbi go-1-3. Dickerson BB, K In the Birds half, M Coffey go-6, Graybill BB, Dutcher FC-4, GO-6 Score 1-1 4th Inning Ryle gets one on but none in in a FO-5, Couch 1B Center, Jessup running for Couch advances to 2nd on a passed ball, FO-6, FO-8 Birds basically do the same in the bottom half. FO-3, FO-4 Pinch hitter Rust 1B to Center, K. 5th Inning Ryle FO-4, GO-6 Irons Single to Right, FO-8 This is when the Birds take over... With the top of the order up Haley Coffey singles to left, Morgan Coffey puts down a beautiful sac bunt that causes an errant throw allowing her to reach, H Coffey to 3rd. M Coffey steal second and opens up first base... Ryle intentionally walks Graybill to get to Dutcher... DUH bad mistake as after hitting a bomb just foul down the left field line, the Highlands top hitter then triples to RC clearing the bases. Gabbard then singles to score Dutcher. Pinch runner Johnson for Gabbard. Ella Grimm reaches on an error moving Johnson to 2nd. Zoie Barth then puts down another perfect sac bunt and reaches on an error allowing Johnson and Grimm to score on a throw down the line. Barth advanced to third. Rust then grounds out to second scoring Barth. FO-8 H Coffey singled to the pitcher. K to end the inning. Score HHS 8 Ryle 1 6th Inning Ryle goes down in order FO-4, LO-6, FO-6 The Birds go FO-3, Dutcher single to left, Gabbard single to Left, FO-3, FC-1-5 7th Inning The Birds close the Lady Raiders out in order GO-5, K, GO-3 The Ladybirds match their brothers bringing home the Regional Title. First time in HHS history that Softball and Baseball have won Region the same year. This had to be a tough call for the coaches to pick All-Tournament members with all four seniors contributing to the Region Crown. Haley Coffey MVP Region Stats 6 for 12 2-2bs 3 runs scored at least 6 web gems as LB calls them Bailey Spencer 16 Ks 4 Earned Runs Shelby Graybill 5 for 8 3-2Bs, HR 5 rbis Our other Senior Brennah Dutcher 6 for 12 2B, 3B, 4 RBIs two of them of the Game Winning variety (Holy Cross and Ryle) As Fox19 says "Dutcher is Clutcher" whatever that means
  6. I have said it earlier that NCC could not have done a better job putting this on. They may be our rival but great neighbors as well. There wasn't a moment where anything was lacking. The team above can't get enough praise from this Bird. Couldn't think of a better venue for my DD to play her last NKY game.... Well maybe one. Thanks LB and crew... Off to Owensboro
  7. Details shortly Internet issues after I typed the whole thing... Ughhhh
  8. Brennah "Clutch" Dutcher with the Game winning Rbi. So proud of this kid. We've been saying it all year don't pitch to Shelby... Brennah will make you pay!!!
  9. Interesting thing is... I think this pic is during pre game infield. This kid is dirty before the game even starts...
  10. Much better venue than NKU. And light which is nice. Kudos to the NCC staff who worked tirelessly pre game and in between games. I must say it was nice seeing LB13 working his tail off. And yes the Pompilios sausages were awesome. Just a couple things and this is not to put down the place at all. A warning track would be nice. Irons from Ryle smacked the fence pretty good on Baughs drive to center. She was still a little shaky an inning or two later. Adding some clay in the batters box would maybe help the deep holes. Both not something that is a quick fix and more of a next year thing. But other than that, much nicer place. Great job by all the volunteers who have put this together on such short notice!!!
  11. I think I got Carpel Tunnel reading this thread!!!
  12. The draw is today right? What time? Would love to be a fly on the wall in that meeting...lol
  13. There was a hangover last night for the birds bats for sure and Meyers took advantage of it. Just a couple hard hit balls. The second basemen (help me lawnboy) for the Breds was outstanding, couldn't get anything past her. The regular season games in this rivalry this year were uncharacteristic.during the four years I have been around, I believe every game has been a one run affair. You can throw the records out the window.
  14. Thanks LB for the recap. Pretty exciting game on both sides. DLG 2.0 had the Hardest hit of the night. She smoked the ball. Zimmerman did a nice job beating a pulled in left fielder and was flying around the pads on a slow track. I must say though, kudos to the city who did a nice job building that field as I would say most fields in NKY could not have taken that much water and been playable. Hats off to Bailey Spencer. Worked out of a couple jams and was dealing. On a night where the bats just were not on the ball for the Birds, she took it on herself to earn the win. Rachel Gabbard has been in a hot streak recently and the timing couldn't be more perfect. That helps the boppers in front of her who, outside of graybills sharp single to rc were unusually quiet last night.
  15. The Birds/Breds rivaly got back to normal with a one run affair. More details to come...
  16. Bailey Spencer and she pitched a gem. 11 Ks. MVP... Well earned!
  17. Not too many regs. Fence minimum is 185. Definitely no problem here. Re intended max is 235. They say it's 230 but it seems further but probably right. The only thing that may be an issue is you have to have a minimum of seating for 200 between the dugouts
  18. It's cause you intercepted the cake before it could make it to the dugout... There are certain things we just can't hide....
  19. In a game such as last night, there are also reasons for the winning team to wan to end it. Maybe you want your hitters to see as few pitches as possible from a particular type of pitcher that you know you won't see for the rest of the season. The interesting part is, HHS did not wait until 15 to start trying to end it. JV hitters were starting to come in before then. As stated, they just hit the ball. Just as you would want any kid to do. Tried it that way. Didn't end anything and stepped off. Nothing embarrassing about it at all. Ten pitches later... Ballgame.
  20. I might add that Spencer continues her run against Northern KY teams with Zero earned runs over 78 innings with 85 Ks against 14 walks. I'm not great at math but that ERA is pretty darn low. Add to the fact that she wasn't used in a few games where she wasn't needed, that K total possibly could have been over 100. All-Star performance so far. Keep it up Spike!!!
  21. Congrats Mac on a great tournament!!! And to all the rest of the tournament team with a shout out to Olivia, Jayda, Kenady and Maclay (all summer ball teammates of my DD at some point)
  22. My other two cents on this and I believe this would put an end to all this about who plays with the voting and remove any doubt of impropriety. Just publish the votes. As it was stated at the event, each coach assigns a number to the players 19 thru 1 and the rest are honorable mention in the coaches eyes. Who ever receives the most points is POY. It's been mentioned to drop the highest and the lowest score and that could help but if the votes were published and a Maddy Moran type player received a 1 or 0, it's pretty obvious that coach has an issue with that player for whatever reason or wanted to lower Maddys total to give their kid a better chance. If coaches feel that their votes were the best based on what they know, they shouldn't have an issue with publishing them.
