Baby Birds have 5 8th graders playing Frosh. There is a total of 19-20 players on the Frosh. I believe they kept 17 9th graders with 3 playing JV.

Baby Birds win 7-2 over Brossart. Birds start off slow down 2-0 after 3. Bats woke up in bottom of 4th. Plate 2 runs in 4th, 3 runs in 5th, and 2 more in 6th. Adam Uhlenbrock started on the hump and lasted 3 innings. Grady Kramer comes in relief and gets the win. He pitched shutout ball and only gave up 2 hits. Grady has bright future in pitching and hits good too. Bryce Ziegler had the hot bat going 3-4, 3 doubles, and 3 RBI's. His one out was a shot to the warning track in centerfield. Sam Hennigan 1-3 with 2 out 2 RBI single. Jackson Daly with 2 doubles. Brossart started #15 on the bump and finished with #5 or #7 . S/O to #11 Trent Parker. His 1st start at shortstop with 5 very smooth put outs and no errors.

That's same report that I received. Ump must had a hot date!!

I'm not sure JV needs him! IMO he will stay with the Frosh squad.

Who pitched and hitting leaders for Campbell County Camels?

I missed the game due to work issues but this is what was reported to me. Griffin Huber is the lefty who came in relief. He pitched 3 strong innings. Cooper Schwalbach came in to close the game. This game is a good example on why you play 7 innings. The Birds only score came from Sam Hennigan's hit up the middle. Advanced to 2nd and 3rd on wild pitch/passed balls. Nick Deal got the RBI on soft hit to 3rd. Aaron Verst hit a bomb to left center and was robbed by Beechwoods center fielder. S/O to Bwd's Ian Meyer for being a smart pitcher and to the CF who made a diving ESPN style catch to strand a runner. S/O to Baby Birds defense for not having one error until bottom of the 7th inning. Their defense has played extremely well for being early in the year.

Baby Birds 7-1 over SK on a cold miserable day at SK. Sam Hennigan, freshman, started on the hump and went 3 full innings and gave up 1 run in the 1st inning. Griffin Leighty came in relief and pitched 4 shutout innings. Efficient outing for both pitchers. Hitting leaders for the Birds were Rob Gabbard ,freshman, 2-4 double and 2 RBI's. Cooper Schwalbach, 8th grader, went 3-3 with triple, 2 doubles, and 2 RBI's. I don't have any info on SK since I wasn't at the game. Spent my time at another cold baseball game.

Highlands Frosh is 2-0 also with victories over NewCath and Boone County. I believe they face each other Monday at SK.

Drew Rom, 8th grader, was the starting pitcher for Highlands. He pitched a complete game against Brossart. He's the real deal and has a bright future. Brady Gosney, freshman, is #6 and starting shortstop. He's hit the balll hard all year long and also has a bright future. Kudos to all of the freshman for leading this team to victory in the championship game. They knew what they wanted and worked hard to get it. Congrats!

I agree C1. Kudos to St Henry for fighting back and never giving up. They play hard and hate to lose which makes them a dangerous team and mainly why they made it to the finals.

#4 is Matt Carl Schoellman. #33 is Rob Gabbard. Both are 8th graders.

Highland Bluebirds vs Brossart Mustangs on Sat at 3pm at Highland Park. Anybody have any details on other games in frosh regional tournament?

Dixie beat Ludlow 5-4 today. St Henry over SK is an upset in my book. I have to admit that I really liked SK.

CovCath beat Beechwood 9-3. Brossart beat Holy Cross 4-2. NewCath beat Campbell County 10-6. This info was passed on to me. Hopefully it's correct.

I don't know the answer. My guess would be that we were missing 6 players on 8th grade field trip so they didn't want to play two powerhouses without our full roster. I do know that the 2 games on Sat were scheduled at the last minute. We do play CovCath today at CovCath.

It was nice seeing the Baby Birds play a complete 7 innings. First time in long time that they stayed ahead in the whole game. They have a bad habit of falling apart in one inning. Hopefully after this weekend it builds their confidence. Baby Birds had a good weekend. Friday night they were leading Ryle 4-2 after 5 innings. Baby Birds gave up 4 runs in bottom of the 6th to lose 6-4. Nice pitching effort by Sam Hennigan. We left bases loaded twice. We couldn't get a timely hit. Ryle has a real nice squad. Top half of their lineup can rake. Kudos to Ryles catcher #8. He's a work horse on the dish. Baby Birds played 2 on Sat. We beat Holy Cross 16-4. Andy Field pitched a good game. Finished up with Dixie 4-1 in a well played game. The wind was in our favor. The ball would hang up in the air and let our outfielders run it down. S/O to Cam Johnston for closing the Dixie game. 2nd time he has pitched this year. We played 3 games without 6 players who were on a field trip to Washington DC. This weekend the Baby Birds were mostly all freshman team.

I was told the game was called in the top of 5th while Birds were batting. I might have bad info thou. I believe game has to go 4 1/2 innings to be a complete game.

Highlands and Ryle go at it again on Friday at Ryle. The 2nd game was called due to rain so it was not a complete game BUT Ryle was dominating and in complete control from the 1st pitch. I agree with CPU. It's a crap shoot. The Baby Birds have used 10 or more different pitchers through out the year. I believe the draw is tonight for the frosh regional tournament.
