Let me sum up this whole thread, last night was a baseball game. There were two teams playing with one winner, nothing more, nothing less. Congrats to Highlands on a great game.

Who pitched?

Really well played game by both teams. Good defense and pitching by both teams.

I'm not sure what's wrong with Cooper, but they almost beat Boone last week. They had really good pitching from their starter and they played really well on defense. Now they beat Ryle 12-7. I'd say their coach is doing a good job and it looks like they are turning the corner. If playing the younger more talented players is the key then they should probably continue with that approach. Congrats to Cooper!

I've been to two of their games and it looks to me like the new coach is trying to turn the program around and one of the ways to do that is by playing the younger guys to see what you have for the future. If you have some seniors and/or juniors who aren't very good then there's no reason to play them if they are leaving the program. From what I've heard the last couple of years it sounds more like the previous coaching staff really didn't do anything to get the program up and running when the school started a few years ago and now the new coach is basically starting over and doesn't have much upper class talent.

They do seem to have some interesting games. Seems like a pretty intense rivalry. Should be a good one.

I'm sure this will be a good game. The last few games the last couple of years have been really good.

From what I've heard it was a good game but both teams left alot of runners on base.

Anyone have any details on the Boone offense for either game?

I agree it's rare that a catcher at the high school level determines the fate of a pitcher. I don't think anyone is saying that the Roedersheimer kid is determining anyone's fate but he can flat out pick em behind the plate. He helps his pitchers a lot with his blocking and throwing not to mention his receiving. He steals more strikes than anyone I've seen in a long time.

The top four catchers in the 9th are all Seniors and are all very good at what they do. Any team would be happy to have anyone of them behind the plate. Theses guys are all very solid behind the plate on defense, blocking, throwing and they can all hit. 1) Blake Roedersheimer - Boone 2) Luke Hennigan - Highlands 3) Jake Schmidt - Beechwood 4) Marshall Rich - Ryle

The Boone catcher, Roedersheimer (sp?) should be mentioned with Purnell and Teegarden. Best catcher in the 9th region.

Coach Huff does a fantastic job at Boone. He should be mentioned when there are 9th region coaching discussions. The man can flat out coach.

Will they still be sharing the field with Holy Cross? I thought Holy Cross had put some money in the park the last couple of years to help up grade it.

Totally Agree! They are loaded on the mound!

I agree Highlands and Beechwood are the early 9th region favorites. They are both loaded. Just remember it's a long season with many ups and downs and a lot can change over the course of a couple of months as the season progresses.

Both are great kids with a lot of potential to help out on the mound this year.

I agree that Boone usually fields a good team every year but it's going to be hard to replace Ganns on the mound and at the plate. They will definitely need some players to step up.

What about Conner, they won the 33rd district, the 9th region and had a really nice showing in the state tourney. I thought they were bringing back most of their starters.
