You can't lump private and independent programs in with the publics. Schools whose have revenue drivers that are derived from sports success completely dwarf enrollment size as a success factor.

I think you have to eliminate T and X from this analysis because they have stronger factors than enrollment size that factor into their success. Potentially, every Catholic High age athlete in metropolitan Louisville is included in their enrollment pool. And I agree with PPride that once you get past the first 3 6A programs, many schools from 1A - 5A could compete and even dominate this class.

CC was 3-7 last year, with all of their wins coming in district. Not to take anything away from CC, but that just illustrates the weakness of this district. Furthermore, CC had the district title opportunity because of the injury to Travis Elliot. If he had not gone down, no way CC wins the district.

The problem is not capacity. The problem is with Scott specifically.

Open enrollment in Kenton County is coming to an end. SK is already closed enrollment and the other schools will follow. Its easier than fixing the problems in the school!!!!

Because kids want to compete for state titles and in 6A nobody but T or X is ever going to win in 6A. Scott Co. has everything a public school program could want to compete in 6A, but T and X are still 4 td better than SC.

To be honest with you, all of NKy 6A should be 5A. Scott Co. does not have to compete for athletes and has higher enrollment. And T and X, well, they should playing NCAA teams!

Not true. Dixie and Boone enrollments are bare barely over 700, yet they compete in the same class as T, X and Scott Co that have enrollment >1300.

I agree that male enrollment is not the most dominant predictor of football program success. Certainly not enough to use as a sole criteria for assigning a program to a class. I would say that the number one criteria would be whether the school district in question has financial drivers that result from success of a football program. While at the Moeller /Trinity game yesterday, every other announcement it seemed was oriented towards inviting middle school kids to visit the enrollment desk to find out how Arch Bishop Moeller High School could mold your future. Never was the link of Football success to enrollment success so obvious. I'm not sure this has been studied at the High School level, but it certainly has a the NCAA level. Location and proximity to employment centers also factors in.

Coach Thompson's wife is my eldest son's aide. It is sad that she has to sit with the fans of the opposition. I admire them both as people, but the Boone kids are getting left behind at a moment when they have the talent to compete.

I saw the Scott Co. HHS tape. SC gave HHS a lot of turnovers leading to cheap easy scores. I'd like to see a SC HHS game with no turnovers.

Name for me one successful NKy 6A program whose success was not dependent upon an single individual skill player that elevated the performance of the entire team? A player who upon departure, reduced the program to mediocrity? From Durham to Simpson to Elliot to Ferris. VOR, if you want to see what a 6A program can be without having to compete for talent, take a look at Scott County some time.

You are being too hard on Warner. If you want to criticize them, you can criticize the scheduling or maybe the lack of a balanced offense. Some years you just don't have the horses in the stable and there is not much a coaching staff can do when the opposition has superior athletes up and down the roster. All of the NKy 6A programs, with the exception of CC, lacked an offensive stud that can carry a team. It will be interesting to see the fruits of the middle school program next year.
