RE, you are correct Davis is a senior. I don't think continuing in the Hauck offenes is going to be an option. Givin Ryle's success at the JV and Freshman levels, expectation will be elevated. Time for that middle school program to produce!

One of the very interesting decisions on Coach Warner's plate next year. Stick with the status quo of Senior Nathan Davis, or move on with Tanner Morgan. Even Morgan gives Ryle more of a down field threat than Davis. Supported by a solid running game, I can see Morgan doing well, even at the varsity level.

How about we just have 2 classes? One with open enrollments , and one with closed enrollments? IMO, that matters a lot more than, size, coaching or facilities.

So charter buses for varsity football, but no (or limited) training facility???? That is either not credible, or very twisted priorities.

But thier motivation for scheduling NKy teams is improved gate reciepts. Can't claim poverty and then engage in indulgences!

HHS does not have to have its weight room. It is withing walking distance of private facilities!

As Birdsfan would say DING DING DING, we have a winner! Part of the HHS competitive advantage is clearly financial. Why would the other programs in NKy want to contribute to that advantage?

I bet Highlands would be ecstatic to have the classes reduced to four allowing for more COMPULSORY district games. That is of coarse, they learned that T and X were placed in their class!

That is the crux of the matter in 6A. You don't have the opportunity to compete for a title in 6A. The only program that has even a remote shot is Scott Co which has a set of very special circumstances that allows it to accumulate enough talent to compete. Makes it very hard on retention.

But then more schools would just take the Pendleton County route and elect not to play district games.

About as "stupid" as expecting programs you can beat by 50 to line up to schedule dates!

Does HHS have a financial need to schedule NKy teams? If so, could part of the motivation be a conscious attempt to starve HHS of funding????

I think a better subject would be "Why does Highlands need to schedule NKy teams?". NKy teams don't schedule HHS for the same reasons HHS does not fill its non district schedule with GCL teams. I believe the dilution of the talent pool in NKy by the addition of programs like Cooper, Walton Verona and Brossart has reduced the competitiveness of a number of programs in the area. Note two of those programs are on Ryle's borders.

SK plays freshman ball with Cov Cath every year. That is not the point though. With privates and to a lesser extent independents, outside tuition and donation revenue improve with football success. In public programs, they do not. So if the head football coach needs access to the principal, the phone call from the private school gets returned a whole lot quicker than in a public program.

In addition to that fumble that prevented a certain score for Scott Co, there was a pick six and a fumble inside the 15 by Scott. Those three balls bounce differently, and I believe you have a much different game.

In Ryle's defense, no one in NKy 6A could compete with HHS. In fact, Scott Co. is leap years ahead of anybody in this district and HHS handled them easily. I did not see them on the schedule for next year. I believe Scott C. and HHS would be a great series. Potentially competitive, without being overwhelming like a GCL opponent.

Have you attended games involving Catholic Schools? Football is ALL about attracting new enrollments and donations.

I said previously in this thread that schools that have financial drivers from football success, combined with no enrollment boundaries, would be more successful than those that do not, regardless of enrollment. Schools that serve a highly impoverished population simply have bigger things to worry about than football success. It is the difference between a cash cow that funds your existence, and an extra curricular activity. It is the difference between having 6 varsity coaches and 36 varsity coaches.

That's because Ryle wants to run over you. That works at the Frosh level when you consistently have big linemen coming in to your program. At the varsity level, you need athletes that Ryle does not have. Look and some of Ryle's game threads and you will be that their kids are described as small and slow.

Hello PB, welcome to BGP! From what I understand, quite a lot. They seem to do very well developing their own kids.

Just about every 6A program not named T, X or Scott Co would like to move out of 6A!
