  1. A coach with proven winning credentials tied to the area somehow is needed for Mercer right now imo.
  2. Someone get on the phone to bring back the guy to win your only state championship!
  3. They might not but is Warren East going to? Rumor is that he has applied at Warren East? Any one have any info on that?
  4. This old saying applies well at Danville currently: "Don't know what you got 'til it's gone".
  5. I have heard there is a coach that used to coach in the area that has been pretty successful that is very interested if they open it up.
  6. Why don't somebody call him up and get him back. He is available.
  7. I've heard Harrison County is open? Anyone know if that is correct?
  8. Will Josh take it back if asked? Seems like a coach in Eastern Kentucky had this happen last year. I can't remember where it was. Board members forced the Admin to ask the guy back. Anyone know the school that I'm talking about? Also, you would think the super. would realize the ramifications that letting go (forcing out) a coach as popular as Josh Jaggers. If the talent is down how is a coaching change going to really make a difference. It's just ridiculous how school leadership preaches all this virtue and character message to kids and communities but typically have no loyalty to anyone but themselves and their job. I have encountered both good and Bad administrators over the years. It's obvious and almost shocking when you work for one that is both honest, fair and supportive during good and bad times. The vast majority of these admins. are not on their coaches side due to their own lack of self confidence and inability to not listen to a minority of naysayers or complainers who every HC deals with at some point in there career. If truth be told JJ probably ticked off someone or some little Johny's mom or dad not ever intending to. Probably a position or playing time issue. So those folks most likely had enough influence to use the win loss record against Josh. He will be better off in the long haul from this situation. Maybe not immediately but eventually. Keep your head up and be proud Josh. You are a football coach; the most important person in many young men's lives. In the coaching community we need to support these young coaches and let them know we appreciate them! Thanks Josh for all that you do for kids!
  9. Did Ashland lose much? Also, did North Oldham lose much? Once i know this information I can rank 'em. Any help?
  10. Not really in basketball. Completely different sport in terms of numbers and collision sport vs. a contact sport etc.
  11. Graveyard jobs IMO. Stay away young coaches. Heck stay away all coaches. Just my opinion.
  12. I'm not doubting anything you say here. I can give you a little insight on his hiring. First, the AD told a very close friend of mine that when they hired this coach he was chosen over another very successful head coach (finalist) for the following reasons: The other coach rubbed the current principal the wrong way because after his interview ended he asked the AD at that time (who has since stepped down) if he could get his program organization packet returned. The AD at that time also informed the current principal that he had told this coach he would return this packet after the interview ended. For what it is worth the AD also says this coach was only chosen first by two of the committee members with one of those being the principal. This story is right from the former AD. Also, the principal liked the coach they hired because he had a really (yes I'm quoting here) "interesting web page". Nothing against the fellow that was hired and now has stepped down. But, I am not surprised by any of this info. And I agree with others that say going on the field with 60 players and 2 or 3 coaches is a nightmare. The board of ed that let's a situation get that bad should be held accountable for any injury etc. that can be attributed to lack of correct technique etc. being taught imo. My last point is this. Jefferson county pays better than most or everyone in Kentucky for teaching but it also pays worse than most everyone for coaching. That is also a fact. Quitting at this point in the summer for this reason is ridiculous. If it were for family or health I could understand but this sounds like little Johny got mad and wants to take his ball home and not play anymore.
  13. Pretty sure Stepp was the head coach at Harrison County for one year following Ray Graham then he was head coach at Franklin County for a couple of years before Shelby Valley.
  14. I want to point out that I do not know anyone at Sheldon Clark High School so this comment is only about the letter they wrote to ask to move down in class. It is a joke. How about all coaches write a letter about how bad their situation is when they have a down cycle in their program. The request to move down is because they don't have enough players and aren't competing well against schools their size. What is next with football? Don't keep score. Everybody win. We have hit a low in Ky. with some of the things that are going on in letting schools manipulate the class system. I always thought it was the coaches and school's job to get more kids out, teach them to play, promote a strength program, promote a stronger middle school program and feeder system among other things. It just comes off like hey we are down and losing so let us play down. Cry me a River!!! Whoever coaches there get to work and build your program. Plenty of schools suffer through bad years over and over. Maybe I missed it but i don't remember teams playing down because they were bad in the past. The enrollment is what it is. But on the other hand the KHSAA will allow South Warren to continue to play a class down for about 7 years straight (when all is said in done with this alignment and the last) based on the bogus numbers they are using with them. They will play 4A but should be 5A. That is a fact. But they have plenty of players and top notch facilities. Some of this stuff the KHSAA is doing is bad for football imo. Not very consistent with this whole process but they do many things like that. An oh..by the way be careful shaking hands after your games
  15. Josh Jaggers would and should be the top candidate if he is interested. He grew up in Lincoln County, played there. His dad led Lincoln to the state finals. He probably knows a ton of people there.
  16. I wonder if they go back with Paul Columbia? I would not be surprised if Holcomb and Ray Graham show interest.
  17. I wish I knew for sure but either St X or Trinity defeated Bryan Station in the late 90's in overtime. What was wild about it was that Bryan Station was going for the win and the opponent used the old belly flop by the whole d-line to get the Defenders to jump off-sides and back up 5. That won the game.
  18. If memory serves me correct Clark county defeated Male, St. X and Trinity to win the whole thing. One of the great runs in big school history. They were a wing-t team similar to what Scott Co. does now.
  19. Yes. This was a dandy. Probably was the beginning of a drop off for Male. It seems like Male is headed back up lately though.
  20. 2008 State Championship - This one was a thriller and a war. Bell was the dominant team scoring around 50 a game coming in and giving up about 3 per game. Bell had knocked off a fantastic Boyle team the week before. Both Bell and Bullitt East were wishbone teams. BE was the underdog that had started the season 2-4. They took off at some point and began to roll over people. The game came down to the final play for 2 points. Bullitt East failed to get the two and Hilton and son were the heroes once again. Seems like Bell scored late on a 4th down and goal to go ahead.
