I hope to see Ryle win, but I believe Trinity is likely too much. I don't think that it's going to be by as much as others think. I didn't see Ryle play Highlands, but will say that the last two times I saw them, including tonight, they look much improved compared to a time I saw them in an earlier point of the season. Being home could help them some, but I don't believe it will be enough. I'm thinking Trinity in a range between 10 and 17.
-
How did the game progress? Was Ryle forced to throw at all?
Congrats to the Raiders and their staff.
If any, very little. Ryle's running game was big tonight.

I've been saying that I am going to the Beechwood/Mayfield game, but I am heavily thinking about making the drive to see the Bell/Boyle one instead. Both should be excellent games.
As far as my answer to this question, I don't think I would have one until knowing how it goes next week.

The final score sounds like this one was much closer than many expected. Congratulations Boyle.
-
Congratulations, one of the projected playoff games of playoff games of the state is official. Can't wait to see it!!!
-
Sounds like it was a hard fought game for both, congratulations birds.
-
Congratulations Breds, sounds like you guys dominated tonight. Go all the way!!!

The running game of Ryle was on it tonight. With that said, Simon Kenton definitely moved the ball too. SK had two huge interceptions that both turned into points for Ryle, which I believe was a big difference maker in the final score, which is pretty well what I predicted with turnovers. During both picks, SK was moving down the field. Either way, congratulations to both teams on good seasons.
One more thing, from where I sat, the onside kick attempt that SK attempted looked pretty good. Did anyone see anything else different that was maybe closer?
-
I figured Beechwood would get this one, but figured that the whole game would be similar to what the first half was, congratulations tigers!!!

I know he's focused on the team goal of moving forward, but good luck to Coach Hilton this week.
Other active coaches who are close:
Philip Haywood, Belfry, 335 wins
Mike Glaser, St. X, 320 wins
Sam Harp, Danville, 308 wins
Ivan McGlone, Russell, 296 wins
Ironically, all of them are still alive in the playoffs.
I don't believe that anyone will argue that this is a great class of coaches, many others in KY would love to have them.

I had my brother buy 6 for myself and friends. I'd imagine it's going to be packed.
Outside of Trinity and X, I would say this will likely be the most packed game in KY, Highlands and JC will likely draw a pretty big crowd too, but I don't think as big as this one. These crowds will likely be the biggest of the whole KY postseason.

This is what has confused me about HC for years, how they play their talent. Last year you had Walker, who was an exceptional athlete but a below average passer. On the sidelines you have Arlinghaus who would be brought in to change things up. Why? Why not put Walker in space, maybe put him in the WildCat, and use him and Ronaker together out of the backfield? Now you have a QB who can throw and two of the better backs in 2A. Before that, Stone and Armstrong's senior year. They very rarely saw the field at the same time? Why? They were both dynamite. In the playoffs against NewCath, they were down at the half and went to Stone as their QB. He had a much stronger arm than the starting QB, and they even ran the option a couple of times w/ him and Armstrong. Funny thing happened and they made a comeback that fell short. I don't get how their coaches use their players.
I agree, especially with your point about Stone and Armstrong. Both of them were very talented. If it were not for things like not playing them together and other talent that was not utilized in the right positions, HC could have possibly fared better than they have over the past couple of seasons.

I'm glad that I got my presale ticket for this game. I went by SK High School to pick it up just after 11:00 and the secretary said that they have estimated thousands of presale tickets already sold between both schools. With that in mind, I will be there very early too.
-
They can't possibly; they have over 700 schools playing football; KY only has 200+; OH would be playing football until February.
I knew that OH had more high schools than KY overall, but was not aware that it was by this much.
-
I believe you're delusional or just a downright homer. There is no way HC is even close in talent level. Dulder and Big Coach, you two may be as delusional as Ets Factor. HC has never had the talent level of NCC. I'm not a big fan of the offense that NCC runs. With their size up front and their ability to run the football with Kelly and Kane and Hightchew, I can think of a few different offenses that would be much more productive.
NCC 35
HC 14
I believe that NCC is overall more talented, but to say that HC is not even close to them on talent is a bit of a stretch.
-
I'm really surprised the poll results have not tightened on this one. Good luck to both teams tonight on what should be one of the best games of the KY playoffs of the year.
-
If OH ever went to a playoff system like KY currently has, I would be very interested in seeing how many of the lower seeded teams win in what is considered to be upsets in comparison to what happens in KY. Personally, I believe there would be several more upsets if this happened in OH.
-
As far as questioning rather or not it can be done if it is not done in three years, I would say yes. I have seen many teams with major improvements that were at or near rock bottom, but just took more time due to resources and the amounts of students coming out for the teams. Resources and the amount of people coming out makes a huge difference.
-
I believe that this question depends a lot on the school, particularly with the resources, players coming out for the team, and the amount of students enrolled. However, with giving a number, I would assume between four and five years.
-
I think that Boyle should win easily, I'm thinking by at least 30, possibly more.
-
I would take KY over OH the way it is right now. I don't like that a 10-0 or 9-1 team can miss the playoffs.
I totally agree, I don't know of any teams that have went undefeated and missed the playoffs in OH, but there have been many teams deserving of making the playoffs that didn't make it and played very tough schedules. With that in mind, I am much more in favor of the set-up in KY for playoffs. Perfect examples are with Simon Kenton making title game two years ago as a #4 seed, Bullitt East making the title game the same year as a low seed and nearly beating Bell County in what was supposed to be a blowout, and Bourbon County winning 2A as a low seed back in '97.

I'll take Male

Your wrong! SK will win and I don't own any orange and black. Not a Raiders fan and sure not a Bengals fan!
Even though I want to see SK win, I would hope for NKY to get a 6A title which ever way it goes. I'm not a Bengals fan either, if you have a favorite NFL team, who it it?
-
SK was closer last year in playing toe to toe with X, who went on to win the state championship; competing with and sometimes beating X & T should be the ultimate goal for these two programs; Ryle's encounters with the big 2 have been much more lopsided; consistency is the key for both; Dixie has actually done more than both in beating T once and playing them tough in other years.
Very true, a friend of mine had a younger brother who played on the Dixie team that beat Trinity. It was completely electric and a neat moment to never forget in high school sports.

Congratulations, good luck next week against Hazard. Should be a good game.
