  1. I'm uncertain about this one, but from posts I've been seeing about Hazard, one would think that this is going to be a blowout. However, I do not see it this way. Apparently, LCA is still tough, if they were not, they would not be in the semifinal. Many say that LCA has a good defense, which may indicate that this may be by far the stiffest defense that Hazard has faced from what others have said as well. With that in mind, I say the winner will get this one narrowly and feel that LCA has better chances than some realize.

I will say LCA wins in an upset.

  2. I believe that many are missing the big point of what is going on. When I say this, I'm not talking about parents allowing or not allowing their sons/daughters to wear shirts that they do, aggressive play on the field between opposing teams, rants from students and adult fans, etc. The problem with things such as the students wearing the shirts that they do is that it speaks very negatively of the school that these students represent. The last time I checked, most of these football stadiums are on school property, in which most of these schools used to not allow these kinds of shirts to be worn in school. But, it doesn't take a genius to be aware of how the public school systems are now in comparison to what they used to be.

Keep this in mind, I do not get offended by much. A few weeks ago, I was eating at a restaurant on a late Friday afternoon and a couple of men came in and sat behind me. Some of the things that were discussed indicated that they were well up the leadership ladder within educational careers. Some other things that were being talked about could have been considered as racist, sexist, and were doing so in a fairly loud manner with the restaurant being busy. I didn't know who they were or didn't get a great look at them when they first came in. When I got up after paying, I noticed that they had public high school shirts on representing the school that they worked at. I won't say where, but I will say they worked for a school in NKY.

I am perfectly aware that these things happen, which can cause many to be uncomfortable, but if you are going to do this, at least have enough common sense to not wear your school work shirts in public places when doing this. I guest some people are just plain ignorant.

  3. I think Lickert would be a great coach that would make huge changes, and do what Thompson doesn't do at all, which is gets the community involved. Thats one of many things that need to be changed, you have many alumni from Boone that would be willing to help boosters for Boone, but there is no boosters at Boone, heck Boone's football team isn't even on the school's website when I went to looked up the basketball roster Lickert would bring organization and be someone the kids could actually look up to and help make them men which is what a coach is suppose to do

There would be a great chance of the community becoming more involved if he was there. After Lickert's first season at Dayton, there was more community support for that team since back after I barely played, which is when Skirvin and a lot more talent was there. Lickert will be valuable regardless of whatever school he is involved with.

  4. His cousin said it was going to be Steve Lickert. That would be my choice.

If Lickert becomes coach, I believe that there will be big changes. The changes may not be instant, but he would make things much better than what they have been. I know a lot about him from the time that he coached at Dayton and heard more things about him from others that played football with him. He definitely knows how to inspire and get the best of his players, he has done it at Dayton and Holmes.

  5. Newcath/Beechwood is a rivalry game that is going to be close year in and year out, regardless of which team is better and by how much.

I really wish Mayfield and Newcath were still in the same class. Chris Kelly, Brady Hightchew, Jake Cain, Dylan Hayes, and the Newcath receivers would cause headaches for the Mayfield D-coordinator all night. Keep thinking Beechwood and Newcath aren't in the same class as Mayfield. You're in for a rude awakening, my friend.

Beechwood has a much more diverse offense than you think. They simply run the ball because they don't have to pass against the single a teams to win. Cameron Vocke is every bit as fast and athletic as anyone on your Mayfield squad.

    Can't wait for Friday night.

I completely agree. The winner, regardless of who it is will not win big. Beechwood is very diverse and played a team in Newport Catholic that was much bigger and had much more speed than a lot realize. New Cath has an offensive line as big as I've seen out of NKY in some time now and may be the biggest OL out of NKY, not sure though.

  6. I kind of have to agree with what The Scribe stated. It appears that Bell and Boyle are the most talented in 4A, but the past two title games were very close in which several thought were going to be blowouts. I didn't go last year, but did see the game between Bell and Bullitt East the year before, and it was a great game. Bullitt nearly won and just came up short. So, my answer is that I don't know.

  7. I do have to admit that this is classless, and it makes the schools look like total fools. Go figure, many people really wonder why schools have turned the way they have, it all has to do with the leadership and administration of these schools, which many are a joke. Overall, schools definitely are very different from what they used to be when I went, which had a lot more respect and positive things instilled in them in comparison to now. Rivalries still happened and a few fights may have even taken place here and there, but overall, there was a lot more respect without making the schools like like clowns.

  8. Jeff Marksberry took over a horrid program and made it into a top 10 team in the state, and now it's "fire him"? It's unreal that Uk#1fan is even allowed to post on here anymore. Maybe he and BigZig can get together and moderate his BGP knock-off. Congrats to Ryle on the win, but congrats to SK on a remarkable run. It was fun to watch those kids play.

I totallly agree with this statement. I'm aware that a lot of people for some reason don't want Coach Marksberry there, but I believe that many need to remember where this team was seasons prior to a few years ago. Regardless of what many think, Marksberry has made this program turn a corner drastically from where it had been.

  9. LexCath's qb has definitely grown up. Thinking that we have 2 more years of this.......all of the people talking about how LexCath is down will be changing their thread topics next year. This kid is a stud and should only get better. He carried LexCath with his arms and his legs all night. I think the receiver named Adam Bush made one of the best catches I have seen this year and Letton was very impressive as well. Luckily for us their defense could not stop our rushing attack. Good gut check game for us and it was good to see us bear down and pull out the victory.

That doesn't surprise me, it seemed almost like many were considering Lex Cath duds in earlier parts of the season, but I figured that it wouldn't take long for them to be back in the near future as a good team.
